Joining and or starting a clan

Question

I've been playing a lot with my buddy. He has been wanting a Kavat along with some weapons that can only be researched through a dojo. He keeps saying "we need to start a clan" and I keep reminding him of the costs that I read somewhere. We are almost done with Uranus. We are having some difficultly with the boss but will figure it out. When is a good time to join a clan. I figured once the map is complete. Or should we invest in our own? I think we are about to reach rank 8.

Clans can be a bit grindy, but are a good investment as they are needed for some higher tier stuff.  Joining a clan with research already done is easier, but you'll also have to work with the unfamiliar people in the clan.  If you start your own, it's more work but you'll be able to manage it with just your friend.  My clan was started with me and two other people, so I know that the costs can be rough but pay off eventually.

There is zero reason to not join a clan immediately when you start playing.

Building your own ghost clan is a viable option depending on what you want to get out of the clan and how much you play warframe.  The material costs are minimal for research (in a ghost clan), but where it hurts the most for a new player is the forma cost in the building of rooms.  That and time.  It'll take a long while to build the dojo and do all the research.  If that type of "project" doesn't interest you then don't build your own.

If you can throw formas in it, theres no real reason not to built a ghost clan. Its way easier to complete things in ghost clan than in some bloated ones that arent interested in researches or events.

But that also means its up to you to be active or not.

My advice is for you both to join a clan with everything researched. That way you don't have to worry much. Try to contribute and participate as much as you possibly can, because that can also lead to improving yourselves within the game. If someday, when you're somewhat a veteran-ish position (with large resource stockpiles) and when you know the ropes of managing a clan you can always create your own and make it completely yours.

As for the costs, I was one of the leaders of a mountain clan and I made several decorated rooms for it. It was great but very expensive. Now that I have my own Ghost clan I can say, damn it's so cheap compared to a mountain clan. Dirt cheap. At least for my stockpiles, that is, since I had to farm quite a few resources again after depleting them for the old clan.

Cheers!

Thank you for all your responses! I have said this before this game is massive. It doesnt really say when is a good time to clan up or not. I didnt wanna be a complete newbie and be the weakest link in a clan.

Anyway where can I find clans that are looking for people on the playstation?

Joining a clan because the research is 100% is not a reason to join. Working to complete research is part of the adventure. The point is to find others to play with and help each other. Look for an active clan and most likely they will have most or all the research as a side-effect. Personal I don't let anyone who up front ask for 100% research. That's just selfish and says you will be gone once you are able to buy it all.

My son and I started a small clan, very casual and most research done. You are welcome to join us; about 5-10 playing and a couple of us (myself for one) are on every day. No requirements, honestly I don't even care if you grab the research and go but some company would be nice. No stress if not!

I'll be home in a few hours after a week out of town. Plan on pretty much playing until Wed morning non stop; message me on PS if interested.

If you decide to do a clan yourself I can give you some tips to get going; built ours from scratch.
