companions and abominations: their future ?

Recommended Posts

DE Sheldon has made comments of coming changes to companions in a few recent dev streams

one is the no more tamagatchi death [yay], another thing was expansion into companions as a whole , as well as possible changes to their features

So I wanted to bring up a concept some may remember and some may not , with the changes coming to kubrows , kavats

we also have a rarer 3rd type that was coined as abominations  that should be taken into account

Abominations

Spoiler

these are the glitched mixed offspring of kubrows and kavats as a hybrid

while one can sell imprints of normal kavats or kubrows, one cannot make abominations since it was patched

im wondering if as things progress will the next update to companion pose a risk to the abominations and /or possible buff the kavats/kubrows and if so how will this affect abominations

I have one such creature, who has been a dear companion and hope de takes them into account, when they do these changes .

he was born of my main bulky  omega kubro and my 1st kavat , his only difference to other kavats is ..well he is very small. about the size of a house cat and when I pet him, im way above his head , like petting a bulky kubrow

hes a very good companion and has helped me for whats been years now . i just dont want anything bad to happy to my little kitty to be honest, but also want him to be as capable as his fellow companion counterparts and hope de can clarify that there isnt a risk to them

Xerxy the smallest kavat [some old pics of him]

Abominations are only different cosmetically. I don't see how a rework of their abilities would affect them differently from any other cat/dog.

some are cosmetically different but i have seen a few how are mixed in abilities also

one would be a kubrow who can use the kavat luck augment

I doubt they will make any updates specifically related to "abominations" as they are a bug turned into "unintended feature" for those that made them when they could be made.

As they still take kubrow or kavat mods and they don't have a separate class, they'll likely be updated when kubrows and kavats are.

Mind linking me to a single case of this? I've never seen or heard of it occuring, ever.

To my understanding, it's Kavat skeleton = Kavat sounds/animations/abilities, and Kubrow skeleton = Kubrow sounds/animations/abilities. Abominations cause the model and texture to be all messed up (e.g. a Kavat trying to use a Kubrow model) but never blend sounds/animations/abilities between the two.

Plus the fact that they weren't supposed to exist in the first place.  They were a cosmetic glitch (because I think pet Kavats were copy-and-pasted from Kubrows, and someone forgot to disable the code to allow them to be used for breeding.)  It's just that when DE fixed the underlying glitch to prevent any more, they left the ones that already existed because some people found them amusing.

I would guess that "preserving abominations" is probably pretty close to the bottom of any list of priorities during a pet rework.  It's only because they didn't really break anything that DE let them keep existing in the first place.  I can think of a couple of other devs that would have "fixed" them because they look silly and broken, and wouldn't want people to assume that an inside-out muppet made of post-it notes and with it's limbs on upside down was representative of the quality of the game.
