Which Plague Kripath grip for a pure CO build?

Question

Hi guys,

For my Plague Kripath polearm with my riven and Primed Fury should I go with Plague Bokwin (2.264 attack speed and 86.1 total damage), Shtung (2.038 attack speed and 110.9 total damage), Seekala (2.529 attack speed and 73.2 total damage) or Kroostra (2.189 attack speed and 94.4 total damage)? Building for pure CO since my riven is -puncture. Thanks!

Good question. In terms of grip, there are three affecting factors to consider: damage, speed and weapon type.

More base damage means that you'll

  1.  have higher base damage,
  2. have better scaling from CO's 60% boost per Status type, and
  3. benefit with more raw damage from your melee combo counter.

More speed means that you'll

  1. Hit faster to reduplicate damage on a target,
  2. Apply more Status types faster to get more 60% boosts from CO, and
  3. stack your combo counter faster.

Weapon type can affect

  1. other stats based on the weapon, most notably the range
  2. the specific benefits of certain stances.

I have no idea what the best answer is, but I'd personally go with Speed over raw damage. For what it's worth, I also don't use a Kripath polearm, instead opting for the Kripath as a rapier with the Infested short grip. This is specifically for Vulpine Mask stance: since every combo in VM forces a Slash proc, I am constantly getting that Slash/Viral combo with every hit and ensuring CO gets multiple stacks with minimum hits.

For the grips I'd recommend going with the extremes, either Shtung for damage or Seekalla for speed. The slower grips in general give you better DPS but obviously build less combo and have fewer chances for status procs, so both are viable but what is best for you depends on your overall build. Example of a Kripath that I use for CO: Plague Kripath / Seekalla / Ekwana II Jai

To recommend a build it would be very useful to know if you have Maiming Strike, Blood Rush, and Beserker available. What about Primed Reach? And what are the full stats of your riven? Just because it is -punc doesn't mean CO is your only option.

Thanks guys! This is the pure status build that I will use with my riven. I'm also going to make a second Plague Kripath that is better suited for this hybrid build with the Ekwana Jai II link. So you think I should go Seekalla for status, and Shtung for hybrid? What I'm wondering is since both are extremely fast all being over 2.0 speed with this build, if the polearm would be hard to control at those speeds or if there are dimishing returns that would favor more damage than speed at that point. Which is why I was thinking Plague Bokwin or Kroostra would be a good balance between damage and speed.
