Arbitration Rewards

This could just be intentional, in which case excuse the post. 

I was doing an excavation arbitration with a couple friends, one of them had to go afk before we even started the second excavator and didn't return until the 17th excavator, but we decided to leave right then so didn't revive him. We revived him once while he was still afk just to get rid of the resurgence beacons we had on us but he went right down again obviously. At the end of the mission though he got all the rewards the rest of us did, while being afk the entire mission. It didn't show up if you checked your mission progress while still in the arb, but on the mission summary screen afterwards he got everything. Since he's my friend I'm glad he got the stuff, but obviously if someone can just go into an arbitration, die immediately, then watch his teammates earn rewards for him, that's not healthy game design at all. 

Can anyone else confirm this? And if so is this intentional or a bug?
