Uroboral
We all know scythes have been underrepresented. No one uses them. Their stats aren't very good and their stances don't help. The new Tatsu has comparable stats to scythes like the caustacyst or hate, but is actually usable because of the stance multipliers. And that got me thinking: Wise Razor, Stalking Fan and Reaping Spiral all have moves that I'd enjoy using on either an extra-long katana or a scythe. Letting scythes use Wise Razor would improve their usability. I'd rather not merge them into heavy blades because then they'd feel underwhelming compared to the epic heavy blades we get, but Wise Razor with Caustacyst could be a viable off-meta pick. There's a precedent in other games too - some "longswords" in Monster Hunter are actually scythes, and the katana style moveset looks okay on them. Pros of merging scythes and Tatsu into "long blades": Scythes are anime AF. Wise Razor is also anime AF. Putting them together lets me be the space ninja I always wanted to be. Lets scythes be viable. Wise Razor is a bit of a bandaid fix, but it could be a starting point until melee 3.0. I'd like to see more multipliers on traditional scythe stances, or buff their animation speed. Streamlines weapon types. We have only 1 Tatsu in the two handed nikana category. I know the Paracesis was also supposed to be a two handed nikana, but its stats are way too high and they'd be broken with Wise Razor. I'd recommend keeping it as a heavy blade. Cons of merging scythes and Tatsu into "long blades": Reaping Spiral has some moves where you throw the scythe. I'm not sure if throwing the Tatsu will look weird. The Keewar "scythe" is tiny and doesn't really fit in with how the other weapons in this category look. Maybe it can be balanced as being the shortest ranged "long blade" but with much higher stats to balance to give a different feel to the same stance combos. What do you guys think? There's so many staves that look like they should be polearms, and some polearms that should've been staves. I feel that the difference should be that a polearm stance gives slash procs while a staff stance gives impact procs. Although both polearms and staves are currently so meta I don't think they really need the help. This would be more for cleaning up the mess than incentivising people to use them. Exactly my thoughts. Yet I see both impact and slash in both categories. If the category doesn't dictate the weapon type as far as damage goes, and it's just for style, then why have them? I main Guandao, a polearm, yet I was disappointed to find out Tipedo Prime was a staff and not a polearm, since I only saw the slash damage and assumed it was a polearm. I could have researched it, yes. But it still makes no sense to have a polearm category (bladed staffs) and a staff category (blunt staffs) if the damage types are just mixed. Same logic goes for all other weapon types too, even though I can't really talk about it because I play little more that Tatsu and Polearms. Some moves here and there are fine, but every combo has parts which just wouldn't make sense with a scythe.

I had the impression all the wise razor moves are solid, measured sweeps other than that one spinning flip. They don't make sense for a real world scythe, but they make sense for an anime scythe, and the current scythe stance moves feel like faster flashier versions of wise razor. Simply put, I would't hold and swing a scythe like a two-handed sword. (even in anime) Cutting Thrice is leaning more towards a nah for scythes. The spin in Threshing Grain is ok I guess, the strikes after it are too sword-like. Calling Thunder can maybe work...except for the slam at the end.
