I will be harsh, blunt, and honest in this rework, and I must appolgize and I need to tread with care. Nyx isn't just some warframe DE has created. Nyx was a staple and historical warframe for them and I want to respect that and attempt to keep her as close to the origonal as possible. I can't just rework her and call it done, she's the chidl of nemesis.... which is weird becuase it's the reverse but whatever. Please, know that I do this out of love for nyx, thank you. I may get some heat saying this but no, her rework wasn't all that good, it was only decent. There was alot of good but she still doesn't meet viability in my eyes. I could easily say this is becuase raids don't exist, but thats only half true. Nyx and her kit are outdated. There are better abilities in the game and the changes since her release have had her stolen from again and again. First lets go over her already existing kit and what I think about the rework. -Mind Control, it's changes are only good and I can't argue with it. Though it falls off later and the AI is still as dumb as it used to be. -Psychic Bolts, No. You need to build for power strength to strip armor and shields? but hildryn, mag, nekros, and so many other frames can affect far more than 6 units. But lets compare it to something similar that many youtubers have compared it to. Ash can throw multiple shuriken which can strip armor by 100% with the same build, but can do so permenantly. Nyx has just disguised his shuriken as party streamers. No, spores is even better. It deals scaling damage and strips armor and apples a status for condition overload in a massive area. -Chaos, really just unchanged. Not much to say other than hey it's still an ok ability. it's what she's mostly known for but hey, it works. Her augment is good but to be honest it never actually feels like it does anything because it shrinks faster than enemies can walk into it. Enemies also will still shoot you if you're too close, so it's not 100% reliable. -Absorb, I mean, yeah it's passable but not really anything important. the issue with the ability is that we become invincible and are slow while doing it. If we wanted invincibility then lets play valkyr, who is terrible in her own right. or maybe we can play someone who comes close to invincible such as nekros, or rhino who can literally get 1 million armor and take 0 damage in sorties. Maybe nerf the other immortal frames to make absorb fair, but why nerf them when you can just bring absorb into line. It takes us an augment to move around in absorb, a full mod slot. why? If thats what you want us to do make it worth it to move around. To clarify something else, her 1 is her best damage ability and it's a single unit that takes away focus from you. Nekros and others can create better copies which preform the task better while also providing far more to teams such as armor strip, cc, and farming. The new wu kong is now the PERFECT representation of how bad nyx and her first ability now are. He has a better mind control because the specter AI is better and it synergizes with abilities. The only saving grace is that she could mind control eximus and ancients. But with specters and recent nekros buffs, that's also gone. Another thing we must talk about before we begin, we have something I must clarify no matter what. Nyx is a CC warframe and wasn't geared towards damage. To rework her to today's standards we either buff CC to high hell, or give her a secondary job. These jobs are as follows. CC Tank- Would be hard to keep the original kit due to her abilities not making sense gaining armor etc etc. She would be taking more inspiration from nemesis of dark sector with a reworked kit. CC Damage- Not what she was meant to be, but this would be by far the easiest way to buff/rework her. CC Support- Would be easier to do with her current kit via debuff and curse mechanics. Pure CC- Nyx becomes full on CC like Vauban and other frames, but in her own unique way. For this route I'll be going for CC Support with some damage of her own. But she isn't meant to do damage. This rework was also inspired by well, her being terrible and this awesome picture. I'd like it if the mind control effect or her abilities were similar to this. because this looks creepy and cool rather than a glowing grid. Yes some extra stuff would be nice but honestly we already got an audio overhaul, lets get a visual overhaul too. To explain the passive change it's meant to be more like her dark sector variant. She caught a rocket and threw it back at hayden. If anyone thinks this is overpowered it really isn't. stand infront of a heavy gunner and she will shred you. This is mostly meant to protect vs stuff like stray bullets and bombard rockets, one shot stuff. Plus this won't deal too much damage back to enemies unless you're using a shield with the amalgam javlok mod. which is also what nemesis uses, a shield. It gives you a build for her passive, cool right? Also this helps way WAY more than some small enemy aim reduction. The name change is not only a reference to the dark sector nemesis, but also fits the concept of her passive. By shooting her she gets revenge by throwing damage back at you. Also the changes to her energy are because she is more focused on being a spell caster. Spreading her abilities is how she does her damage, granted minimal, but some damage. She is still primarily focused on CC but now comes with more debuffs and buffs. Rather than a classic support, Nyx will grant power strength, strip armor, slow and disarm enemies, and making enemies more vulnerable. Her abilities also mix in some unique augments that focus her into a special and flexible support with more choice in her abilities. Also her theme is going to be split in two. We need to clarify her theme as she seems to be torn between psychic, or psionic. put simply she will be both for this rework. Exilus Passive Augment: Bolting Retaliation 50% chance that damage reflected back is damaging psychic bolt. {{{{{ABILITY 1}}}}} Mind Control Drain 25 energy / Duration 28s / Held Charge Time 2s Nyx invades the psyche of a target, confusing enemies and making them fight for the Tenno cause. Targets then fired upon by Nyx receive a damage multiplier. Nyx can control up to 2 people at once.-Nyx can hold her 1 ability to recast mindcontrol on all mind controlled targets. -Recasting mind control like this doubles damage output of her minions -Recasting mind control like this summons all mind controlled targets to nyx -Damage conversion rate capped at 10k% -Mind Controlled enemies will have a higher threat level than nyx -Mind Controlled enemies are hyper aggressive to other enemies. -Mind Controlled enemies will follow Nyx's marker S = Increases or Decreases Mind Control Target's Damage D = Increases or Decreases Mind Control DurationE = Lowers or Increases Mind Control energy cost R = N/A Mind Control Augment: Mind Freak -Mind Controlled Targets deal 1% extra damage per 10 armor or shield on their target. -If a mind controlled target dies, a miniture chaos is cast from that position for free. 50% the size of normal chaos. -This chaos is not affected by mods, however it can be modified with Crippling Chaos. -Mind Controlled Target gains 50% attack speed and movement speed -Mind Control Can be cast on allied minions -Venari, Operatives, Specters, Spawnable Minions, Etc Etc {{{{{ABILITY 2}}}}} PsychicA small array of abilities where Nyx can use her psyonic abilities to crush her opponents. Psychic Wave 5 drain per attack / 18m radius / Wall knockdown time 3s / Debuff 25% / Wall Knockdown Debuff 75% Nyx Charge attacks send out a wave of psionic wave that throws enemies backwards. Upon colliding with walls they are knocked unconscious. -Enemies lose 25% armor and 25% shields -Enemies lose 60% armor and 60% shields if knocked against a wall -All shields and armor lost is turned into shrapnel to damage nearby enemies. like mag's abilities. -Enemies are knocked unconscious for 3 seconds before starting to get back up. -Psionic wave is a cone shaped wave much like banshee's sound blast but larger and has more force. -This ability is passive like Psychic Dash and can be enabled and disabled. -Consumes 10 energy per charge attack. -Chaining charge attacks makes it cost 5 energy -Enemies are pushed 5m away from the end of Psychic Wave. -if you have an 18m wave, enemies caught at 4m will be blasted to 23m. S = Increases or Decreases Armor and Shield Strip D = Increases or Decreases Range *like nova's mo prime*E = Lowers or Increases Psychic Wave Energy Cost R = N/A Psychic Sphere 50 Drain / 10m Radius / Enchanted 13m Radius Nyx creates a protective bubble that grant's Nyx's allies her passive as well as bolstering their strength and duration. -Allies include mind controlled targets, specters, companions, and other allies -Nyx grants 20% power strength and duration to all allies in Psychic Sphere -If Neuro Feedback is cast within the Sphere, it grows by 3m baseline.S = N/A D = Increases or Decreases duration of Psychic Sphere / Increases or Decreases Duration BuffE = Lowers or Increases Psychic Sphere Energy Cost R = Increases or Decreases Size of Psychic Sphere Psychic Bolts 50 Drain / 10 Held Drain / 8 bolts / Duration 10s Nyx throws a cluster of seeking bolts that disables enemy weapons and strips enemies of their armor and shields. With extra focus Nyx can throw them around, knocking them unconscious. -Psychic bolts disarms enemy weapons after 2.5 seconds after being affected. -Psychic Bolts strips 75% armor and 75% shields -Can be recast to strip all enemies of their affliction, but the affects are not permanent. so choose if you want to remove it or not. -Psychic Bolts will not target enemies that had the psychic bolt effect on them. -Holding down Psychic Bolts will force enemies affected by Psychic Bolts to explode and be thrown towards the closest wall. -Knocks enemies unconscious for 4 seconds.S = Increases or Decreases Armor Strip D = Increases or Decreases Duration of Psychic BoltsE = Increases or Decreases Energy Cost of Psychic Bolts // Increases or Decreases chance to disarm enemies R = N/A Psychic Dash 5 drain / 10m dash / 2X damage Nyx connects to the void with her psychic powers, dashing through another plane of existence allowing hert to shift through walls and enemies alike. Enemies she passes through become more vulnerable to her psychic powers. -Ability can be toggled on and off, can remain active while rotated to another one of Psychics abilities. -Psychic Dash can only be used twice every 5 seconds. -Enemies that have been void dashed through take 2X extra damage from anyone under the effects of nyx's abilities. -If used properly allows for nyx controlled targets to deal 20000% of their damage to a dashed target. Which is alot but requires you to have already built 10000% -Psychic Dash allows Nyx to go through walls.S = Increases or Decreases Damage Boost to Dashed Enemies D = N/AE = Increases or Decreases Energy Cost of Psychic Dash R = Increases or Decreases Distance of Psychic Dash Psychic Augment: Ardent PsionArdent psion grants nyx modifications to her abilities making them ever more powerful. Chaotic Wave- Psychic Wave has increased knockback and afflicts enemies with chaos Ardent Sphere- While in Ardent Sphere, shields lost is equal to armor while inside the sphere. Pacifying Bolts- Psychic Bolts now releases 10 bolts. Enemies hit by Psychic bolts falls into deep sleep. Focused Dash- Psychic Dash now carries over operator effects from selected focus tree. -Void Dash Arcanes do not transfer over, that would be too powerful {{{{{ABILITY 3}}}}} Chaos 75 Drain / 23m radius / 20s Duration / Status Chance 30% / Psychic Chain 75%With a powerful psychic blast, Nyx causes mass hysteria on the battlefield by confusing all enemies to attack random factions.-Enemies affected by chaos attack at random-Enemies under the effect of chaos will have a 75% chance to chain their psychic bolt to another enemy. -May only chain once -Going over 100% allows for a bounce to turn into a split. two bolts are produced from the chaos enemy rather than one. -Enemies have a 30% increased chance to deal status procs to other enemies.S = Increases chance that enemies will hit each other with status D = Increases or Decreases Duration of Chaos AfflictionE = Increases or Decreases Energy Cost of Chaos R = Increases or Decreases Range of Chaos Chaos Augment: Crippling ChaosNyx combines her Chaos with crippling effects further increasing her potential to disable enemies. -Chaos slows enemies by 1% up to 50% over 8 seconds while under chaos. -The longer enemies are affected by chaos the slower they become. -Slow is not affected by mods. -Natural Talent increases rate at which enemies are slowed. -Chaos makes enemies suffer status for 75% longer than normal {{{{{ABILITY 4}}}}} Neuro Feedback 80 drain / 5X Neural Detonation Damage / 350% Increased ReflectionNyx becomes stationary and boosts HER passive to 100%. All damage dealt to enemies with her abilities active on them, is absorbed into Nyx's Neuro Feedback. Nyx then releases a powerful explosion equal to 5X the damaged gathered. This explosion only effects those under the influence of her abilities.While she is in Neuro Feedback, Nyx can move around and cast abilities as an intangible holographic figure like an invulnerable ghost.-Abilities can be cast while in Neuro Feedback. -Gear used during the ability will drop in the warframe's position, not the holographic position. -Neuro Feedback will increase reflection damage by 350% -While in Neuro Feedback, Nyx can Mind Control one additional enemy. -This enemy mind control can be kept, but not increased, while out of Neuro Feedback. If it dies then you must go back to Neuro Feedback to regain that minion via mind control. -Energy is not drained based off damage taken, but is a duration based power that can be refreshed. -Ability can be refreshed by holding the ability down for 2 seconds it will then shoot out all the damage absorbed and the duration of the ability will reset. -Neuro Feedback can be ended early by pressing the ability again. -Prevents the storing of damage to Equinox lvls of damage. -If Neuro Feedback is cast within Psychic Sphere, base range is increased by 3mS = Increases or Decreases Reflection Damage % From Nyx Passive // Increases or Decreases Explosion Damage Multiplier D = Increases or Decreases Duration of Neuro Feedback DurationE = Increases or Decreases Energy Cost of Neuro Feedback R = N/A Neuro Feedback Augment: Assimilating RiftNyx creates a massive rift of psychic energy to confuse and indoctrinate enemy forces before sending out a tidal wave of psychic power. Losing the ability to become wisplike, nyx now fights with her own weapons and moves at half speed. -Upon Casting, Nyx opens a massive rift with a 22m radius. All enemies in the area become Rift Controlled. -Rift Controlled Enemies can be attacked by tenno, but will not fight back. -Rift Controlled Enemies recieve benefits from Mind Freak and the current damage boost. -If nobody else is around, Rift controlled enemies will instantly kill themselves. -no combat for 10 seconds = instant death for normal enemies -Will not effect bosses and assassins. -Mind Control turns into Rift Control if 5 enemies are already controlled. -Causes Neuro Feedback detonation to send out a radial Psychic Wave equal to the Rift's Range -Can be modified with Ardent Psion -If assimilating rift is cast while inside Psychic Sphere, allies share all passives. -Umbra strain will not transfer over to warframes. that is special to umbras. -Nidus and Baruuk passives will also not transfer over due to it requiring warframes to have mutation stacks -Khora passive requires Venari to be alive, and only applies movement speed boost. -Shield Energize isn't a passive and just a gimmick, that does not transfer over from Hildryn -Chroma being the first of the gimmick warframe passives, cannot transfer his passive over. *so DE doesn't have to make over 200 different abilities* -Nyx cannot share the 100% passive buff with her team, they will still only recieve the baseline benefit of her passive. -------------------Reasons Why I Changed What I Changed------------------- Nemesis, The passive. I already went over this, long story short it's a better alternative to her accuracy debuff and I can play with it as if it were an ability. It's flexible yet won't make her unkillable to melee units and flamethrowers. Nyx also cannot rely on the passive to keep her alive. Shotguns and machine guns still will erase her because it's not 100%. Butchers and infested will be an obvious weakness. the deflect increase is also a silent nod to dark sector nemesis using a sword and shield. the new Amalgam Javlok shield build is a good way to build her. Her energy changes are due to her abilities such as Neuro Feedback where she becomes a spell caster, and her psychic ability. Nyx will be spreading her abilities more often and casts spells more frequently while granting extra protection via lethal energy draining. Nyx is still an energy heavy warframe and requires energy orbs and arcanes to be used to her full potential. The exilus mod is for people who build for Psychic Bolts. This exilus will apply to everyone who has your passive on them, meaning a psychic bolt can be thrown out on everyone within Psychic Sphere, disarming enemies. It's useful against people that use rapidfire guns such as corpus and heavy gunners because it will rapidly shoot out psychic bolts. Mind Control really isn't good bad or good. The changes made were all positive but it still doesn't feel up to par. To alter that I've given the minions a way to have refreshed mind control and a way to build damage by recasting mind control. Then I added more functionality because sometimes minions don't follow you, so you can not only recall them, but command them with your marker. Also DE can we make it so Mind Controlled enemies aren't considered enemies? if one is still alive during a defense then it stalls until that enemy is released and killed which can be annoying. Mind Freak was now changed because there's just no reason to get an extra 400% when you can get 1000% easily. With the new changes it's not like an extra 400% will matter all too much. So to make Mind Freak still viable, if you want mind controlled minions to deal damage Mind Freak scales based off armor. They deal more damage to enemies that have armor meaning their issue with less damage is now lessened. Upon death they can spread chaos and this augment can combine with others for cool effects. Primarily Assimilating Rift can apply a mind controlled effect to enemies, but they can still be attacked. This means you have thralls that deal more damage, scaling your Feedback further than it would normally would go. My reasoning for not making the scaling built into her kit is simply because she shouldn't be focused on damage for this rework. Psychic is the new ability and is what I did for Vauban's Mechanic rework. I made this a spread out utility ability set like Vauban. What seperates this is the two toggleable abilities so you have to decide which ones you want on and off. Two are toggleable and two aren't. These will not prevent energy being gained as she is pretty energy hungry and it doesn't make sense for these abilities to prevent energy gain when they aren't the super stars of the kit. To start we have her Psychic Wave, the first "support" ability yet still CC. Nyx can strip armor and shields while knocking away enemies into walls, stunning them. Much like banshee's sonic boom, Nyx will push them away but with more force. this can be annoying, but used in smaller corridors could become devastating, or combined with certain abilities like magnetize, nyx could demolish enemies. This can be used not only to be a support, but can be used to push enemies away quickly in case you're in trouble. The idea for this came from HoTS where diablo needed to look for angels, slamming enemies into walls to apply increased debuffs The augment turns this ability into a way to also spread chaos while inflicting armor and shield reduction. After being pushed away they target their allies where they were pushed away, and not target the tenno. Psychic Sphere is her most unique support ability. Psychic Sphere isn't like any other bubble before, rather it's a bubble to grant a buff to people inside it. Nyx sharing her passive makes her one of the most special support warframes, however it also means she won't work with some warframes. Warfames such as Nezha, Chroma, and others who want to damage themselves would have some difficulty making use of rage and health globes. Nekros being the only exception to desecration. In specific this makes her useful in the index and defense missions again because she not only brings CC, but has a buff in a small area where people are likely to stay around. Also while I did nerf her armor stripping, if you stand in the sphere and cast it with an intensify on, the armor is completly stripped meaning you want to be in the sphere more often for maximum effect. With the Augment, we have a special way for Nyx to support her squishy allies. However this doesn't take effect immediately. As shields are equal to the current amount of shields lost, your armor would fluctuate rapidly. Warframes such as harrow, my reworked ember, and hildryn would love this ability becuase they would be losing shields always. even at times they could be gaining equal to over 1000 armor. While this seems powerful, the armor will only be taking effect if your shields arelost. If a sniper decides toshoot you, if Nyx can't deflect it then you're dead. This is meant to make defense vs rapid fire units such as crewman, lancers, and gunners who don't deal damage in burst. this augment effectivly counters her weakness, but only if you're inside the bubble. The Idea came from my "Mechanic" Vauban Rework and his Barrier Mine. Psychic Bolts... Lord why did this thing get changed the way it did. Yes it's an improvement over what she had before in many ways, but Ash just simply does what this does better. It's worse than before in the sense that it's a re skinned ability. Obviously DE wants it to be a choice, recast it and lose the debuff or not. If that's the case at least make it significantly better than Ash's because it means we need to recast a more expensive shuriken more frequently. What I gave it was disarming potential, which is always nice and is an old reference to dark sector infestation and her old passive. This on top of armor strip is good for her bolts. But to make this feel like a Choice we need it to affect more than just 6 enemies, so I made it 8. I did nerf however the ability to make an intensify a complete armor strip. This is to compensate for the increase in bolts and forces builds in a different direction. you need more than just an intensify to make this ability worth it. It's not it's own ability anymore it's 1 of 4. Combined with her chaos, this ability can affect a great amount of people, but only if used right, and if used right it becomes more of a choice than a routine. Pacifying Bolts is cool because you have two augments when building for bolts. Her exilus and this one. Using Ardent Bolts enables you to sleep enemies and also increases the amount of enemies effected. This makes it more meaningful when you decide to recast the ability because you already have more of an effect on the field. would it be worth it to resleep the enemies and reapply it or not? Also I'm aware that Pacifying bolts was good, buty post rework it doesn't feel as powerful, even if it got a buff. The reason for this to me at least is because it feels like if you're stripping the armor, then whats the point of also making them not attack you because they're doomed to die in the next few seconds anyways. Psychic Dash allows nyx to use her operator as a power source. This not only makes newer players instantly more familiar with operators when they are introduced to them during the new war, but also makes nyx feel more agile and unique. The void is described as chaos more than once, and I'd like to tie that to nyx. Psychic Dash serves as a way to provide your own minions a damage boost, a way for you to quickly escape, and a way for you to move around that's different from other warframes. dash into the air and aim glide, only to void dash again. It's worth noting she can dash through walls as well. This makes her one of the best spy warframes, and also great at traversing through certain tiles.The Augment turns this into a much much more flexible ability that players with focus trees can appreciate. By using focus into this ability, nyx can generate energy via zenurik. with vazarin she can heal and grant immunity to allies. Naramon boosting finishers. Madurai spreading flames and damage for condition overload, and Unairu reducing armor and damage. Unfortunately I did think about it a bit but adding arcanes as well would be a tiny bit too powerful for this ability. Now that were done with the "quiver" we can move onto Chaos. Honestly it's just really good as it is but seeing as it's somewhat unreliable compared to say nova slowing everything by 90% or something, we need some way to make an unreliable ability something we want to use more. My solution to this is to make it affect other abilities. chaos affected enemies will spread psychic bolts liek a virus, making both abilities more meaningful. They also can proc status on their allies, increasing condition overload lovers and making her charge her ultimate faster in turn. I had a concept for an endless Chaos but it felt a bit lackluster so I rewrote it to a more support feeling ability while still retaining CC. she has some added support value in the new chaos augment. By slowing enemies, it makes you want to focus on spreading chaos to nto only control your enemies, but also increase your teams status. For warframes such as Ember, Saryn, Equinox, Ash, Garuda, and condition overload users, this ability is invaluable. Hopefully this makes her more useful to parties and makes the augment more tempting for people to use. The idea for this came from HoTS actually where Stukov could apply a slow that increases over time and after poping the ability it applied a debuff. Finally we come to Neuro Feedback, the coolest and most fun ability I created for her. or at least modified. Rather than becoming invincible she boosts her passive to 100% for her and her alone. This doesn't make her immune to melee units and flamethrowers making her easy to kill if left in a bad position. However becoming a reflecting stationary target if you built for that reflection definitely has it's perks. While this is active, nyx herself leaves her body and floats around as a wispy ghost casting her abilities. This allows for nyx to pay attention to multiple places of the battle and wander around without fear of being killed by casting chaos in the middle of an enemy group. Her ultimate becoming a cast rather than a toggle helps because you won't have the issue of supports not being able to give you energy. I have a giant post about Nyx and her absorb which will be a response below this one. In case you don't want to read that here's an example of how bad the absorb is. Equinox can deal several dozen times more damage with maim, in a much larger area, apply slash to everyone, and can do it without having an energy drain based off her damage number stored. She can not only do this but heal her allies with the same ability. The "absorn" mechanic is no longer applied to you. Instead it takes in damage enemies under any of your abilities take. In other words your team won't be taking away the effectiveness of your ability by killing enemies, rather they help you charge it by killing enemies. This is the opposite of how absorbing type abilities scale. I did want to give her some form of damage but I needed a limit to it, so her map nuke takes time to set up and charge, yet cannot be abused and there are better frames for nuking. After all she is a CC warframe with support aspects in this rework. The cap I added means if you want to nuke you need to really think about when to use it, otherwise your team kills everything, but you need your team to charge the ability fast. She isn't a warframe focused on damage, so i feel it's justified to make her damage locked behind such a large energy gate. This Augment is now viable for all builds and unlike before, you lost something for this augment. You can no longer move about freely, instead nyx herself has to move. depending on playstyle it's a buff or nerf. It's a large CC area which can indoctrinate enemies into fighting for you. By doing this we have an ability that can give Nyx an army of her own and a more controllable chaos. Next we have Rift Control which applies to Mind Freak, spawning chaos everywhere. By combining Mind Freak and Assimilating Rift, Nyx can charge her battery stupidly fast between her team and her minions. Lastly I wanted nyx to have the ability to combine all passives, but I wanted it to have some work behind it for that to work. Hence, we have nyx needing this augment and another ability to accomplish this. At the end of the ability you could also build it for a quick spam of Ardent Wave to clear the room of all armor and shields with ease. I hope I succeeded in making Nyx into a strange type of support that pushes the limit on what supports can be. She doesn't provide healing or energy, but has tons of other things to bring to the table that can assist some warframes in their jobs. Whether it's through mobility buffs, sharing passives, controlling crowds, disarming and sleeping enemies, buffing abilities, or boosting status, she's capable and flexible of just about everything in the game. This is definitely a complex rework, but she honestly deserves some attention to her and even if some of this can be looked at when she is touched up again, i'd be happy. In the end these are all suggestions that DE can pull from if they ever care to revisit her. I just hope that it's sometime soon because her absorb is just terrible. ------------------- Anyways what do you guys think about this rework suggestion? There are definitely more ways to take nyx than just this. Her abilities can fit in damage and tank too if we take inspiration from a few other sources. But because I don't feel like DE wanted her to do damage I did have to limit her damage potential to a large setup. Also I'm sort of lost on her mind control I found several ideas to make her minion scale vs armor. which do you guys think is the best? 10 armor = 1% damage increase -This would be giving heavy enemy scaling and gives 500% damage vs a lvl 80 heavy gunner Chaos targets deals 100% corrosive damage to other enemies -Chaos enemies strip their own allies armor so it doubles as a support ability and a way for your minions to get around armor scaling. Mind Controlled Targets use holographic versions of nyx's weapons using her mods -Enemies now carry your weapons, giving even low lvl enemies the ability to kill high lvl enemies Enemies affected by Psychic Bolts take true damage from mind controlled targets -Mind Controlled enemies no longer have to deal with armor if you spread psychic bolts meaning power strength would only be needed if you wanted to deal damage yourself. Psychic Dash causes chaos enemies to be stripped of armor -Gives incentive to use Psychic Dash before killing enemies. If anyone has any other cool ideas for how to make these abilities work for nyx it'd be cool to share. I like hearing new ideas whether they are new augment ideas or new abilities in general. I'd also like to see if this feels enough like nyx to be classified as nyx rework rather than creating a new warframe. Share what you think Nyx should be. Damage is the only redeeming factor for it becuase it lacks any utility other than survival, and even then you need an augment to make that survival worth while. You can skip this if you don't wanna read how laughable absorb is compared to a variety of other abilities in both uniqueness and effectiveness. Or read it if you wanna laugh at the ability. Spoilers, Hydroid's puddle is a better absorb. ABSORB SUCKS I did some testing in the simulacrum out of curiosity to see how bad nyx absorb actually is. Equinox is better. With less than 50 energy I can get a 130 power strength equinox to deal over 4X the damage than a Nyx with 190% power strength and 430 energy to her absorb. Keep in mind my equinox had less energy efficency than my nyx, yet used less to deal more damage against a warframe who had more power strength. Equinox also deals her damage in a massive aoe that can cover an entire tile. Nyx gets an explosion radius of... 8 meters... WHY!? We have ultimates that deal so much damage in such a large area and you kept absorb the way it is? no you know what's better? Equinox not only can deal that massive amount of damage, but SHE CAN HEAL TOO. Nyx and Equinox are obviously not the best to compare but their ultimates both focus on dishing out damage to enemies via a charged aoe nuke. There's a hidden stat to absorb I doubt many people know nor care about. Absorb takes 0.03% damage taken and turns it into damage for your weapons for 8 seconds. I tried to build for this but in order to even get double damage, I needed to use over 300 energy over 13 seconds in absorb. You know who does this better? Harrow. A support who can increase critical damage up the wazu and increase critical chance at the same time. he can do this for I guarantee you less than 100. This stat to absorb is just useless and does nothing. Nobody builds for it, and I doubt anyone except nyx mains even know about it. My friend who played nyx didn't even know about this. DE the point of your energy drain on absorb was to keep us from being in the absorb yes? So why give us a weapon buff after our absorb is finished? that makes no sense. Even if it did at least make the buff worth it. Absorb, an energy eating scaling ability, so it's gotta be good when compared to the other damage eating abilities right? lets find out together. Revenant can deal vast amounts of damage in an aoe constantly. enemies at lvl 80 die instantly to revenant built properly with 50 energy spent within 5 seconds, how does nyx compare? She can deal a whopping... 400 damage... in an 8m radius. That's giving it the benefit of the doubt that you have 9 heavy gunners around you and that your team won't kill the enemies before you're done charging. Soooooo that obviously sucks, how bout wisp? My wisp isn't max lvl and yet her damage laser can deal over 1000 damage to a fully armored gunner. That's right, a nyx built for absorb can't even dish out the damage that a not maxed out not laser focused wisp can. Now what happens if I add in her reservoirs to make wisps laser more powerful... oh... 10k damage with corrosive... Alrighty then. What's next, right hysteria. Sadly I can't test this myself but GHS showed numbers of insane damage in his valkyr showcase doing 2k redcrits to lvl 218 enemies. That's stupid. Nyx's ultimate is by far THE WORST ultimate that consumes energy. And you need an augment to even make the ability function. When most people hear absorb now, they think assimilate. Even WoF can deal more damage with accelerant on them. full energy Ember can deal way way more than a full energy nyx absorb. And i'm comparing them because yes, this is a DAMAGE ultimate. Here is the real kicker, want to know what does absorbs job better? Mallet. A 25 energy ability that can deal over 10k damage in a stupid radius. It takes incoming damage and dishes it out repeatedly over and over again, oh and it attracts enemy fire in a larger area than the nyx AI. Mallet is absorb, just better. oh oh wait, no that's not fair, she's a newer warframe. Octavia is way higher on the pecking order. Plus it distracts enemies like a mind controlled target. Compare her to someone who was released years ago. ok ok fine. Mag. yeah Mag can place down an absorb, multiple of them in fact. lvl 80 enemies will shred themselves in her magnetize bubble. Without any armor strip, they did over 9k damage to themselves by shooting, and blew up for over 11k damage each. over 10X what absorb can do for 400 energy. That's giving you Nyx the benefit that you don't stip their armor with polarize first to increase that damage. There's also another absorb in the game and it's hilarious. Nyx is beaten by a puddle. shoot into it and it'll do more and more damage with no scaling energy cost. You can move around in puddle form which nyx needs an augment to do, he can reposition with a wave, AND have control over who gets into the puddle by grabbing enemies in a radius that's larger than 8m. But wait there's more. Hydroid can deal over 11k dps to everyone per second... without any extra outside help or his corrosive barrage. the joke of warframe is better than nyx. Not to mention you can move while in the puddle form. Something nyx needs an augment to do. Oh yeah and hydroid can be used to farm materials which is what this game's core is. His absorb also doesn't scale in energy cost the more dmg you do. Remember, that other stat I talked about? how absorb will take some damage and give it back to you. yeah. did that sound at all familiar to anyone who hunts eidolons? oh right chroma. You can get upwards of 1000% damage boosts and be next to unkillable for the small price of 150 energy. and he isn't slowed down by his "absorb". Guess what, Harrow also has a better absorb in this sense. He can grant so SO much critical damage and chance buffs by becoming invulnerable and moving into enemy fire. That sounds very very useful because it gives you a buff rather than doing flat non critical damage with no meaningful status. This one is being added at the last second but her absorb is actually garbage. yeah yeah I'm repeating myself but hear me out her kit was made to fight itself. Her first and third abilities focus on taking the heat off her by increasing enemy threat levels and turning them on one another. but the way absorb is meant to work is to take in damage to shoot it back out. For many warframes this style works perfectly because they can't distract enemies with threat level CC. However nyx's absorb suffers from this power making this a nyx specific weakness. Her 1 and 3 will constantly work against her 4 ability because it actively prevents enemies from focusing you. and before you even try, I already tested it her absorb doesn't make her threat level higher. this means her 4 has no way of being focused. But the thing is, absorb is meant to take in damage, she needs to be focused but theres a problem there as well. If she gets focused her energy eats itself faster than you could go to youtube and look up your favorite youtuber. DE has made a damage dealing ability deal poor damage, have no scaling potential, made it impossible tobe focused to do it's job, and make it useless if it does get focused. that's an acomplishment and a half. And if you think it can be used to avoid damage quickly, just use your operator. But it has assimilate. abilities should not require an augment to become baseline viable for content. even then remember what I said earlier, rhino can literally become invincibile for no speed reduction by getting 1M armor. Now this is where you're thinking no duh it sucks, Nyx isn't a damage warframe, you said so yourself! but... really? DE's changes to nyx have been damage focused. Absorb deals more redirect dmg, absorb reflects damage types taken, psychic bolts strips armor which lets you deal more damage. I'll ignore all of those changes. Absorb's only other use than damage is survival and it's pitiful. even more with the new jupiter units. nullifiers run at you. nullifiers now will leap to you and erase nyx absorbs. let me repeat a nullifier can outrun a nyx with her augment. If it's focus isn't damage, then it's survivability... but why let her keep that poor survival ability when you could replace it with an actual survival ability. or maybe give her some reliable CC on her fourth ability, which could guarantee her safety. Even then tho it still would need utility of some kind that interacts with mind controlled enemies to make it more worthwhile D: The concept is so so but they just outright flogged the pooch on executing it.
