Mag, The pull and Magnetize

After watching the new cinematic trailer, I thought it would be nice if mag's pull works like that, basically without the uncontrollable violent ragdoll, but more like titania lantern floating kind of thing where they're pulled into your direction in a less abrupt manner. As for the magnetize, being able to use it as a charge up ability or a not target only cast seems to be a nice change to have considering then you can fire the magnetize bubble to a surface to have it block bullets coming from that direction if no enemy are present in feasible position.

As someone who actually loves to fling stuff around with Pull, that wouldn't make my day. However I think there's a way for those two methods to coexist.

  • Simple tap for soft pulling as described in the OP.
  • Hold for savage pull of death as it currently is.

As for the suggested magnetize changes, being able to lay a magnetize bubble anywhere could be cool.

However, if Mag is in need of any kind of changes, I don't think the priority should be made on Pull or Magnetize who are two powers who work extremely well (pull as a CC, Magnetize as a cheap Nuke ability). I'd more bring changes to Polarize and Crush who just simply doesn't seem to work that well alone without augments and quite overlap each other in some ways.

I feel like there's a significant bias towards Mag among DE in general. Sure, Mag has been in a bad place, but they made her viable. I don't see the point in making more changes to her when she doesn't need them.

the only way they made her viable is by adding counter pulse. if that wasnt there, she still be in a very hard spot.

i still would love her though

I like D20's Idea.

tap for regular pull
hold for slow floating pull.

That could even work well with the extra function of spawning energy orbs from enemies using that ability.
Hold for the slow floating pull, shoot the enemies out of the air as the float towards you and get the (default) 25% change for an energy orb on kill.

sigh Mag isn't really in a bad place but she is a super caster frame. By super caster frame I mean that she must use her abilities non-stop to just stay alive, thus she's very energy dependent. Perhaps I will make a vid of how good mag is at some point, just tired of seeing all these "mag sucks" comments...

As the poster boy, Excal also has a significant bias. I am pretty sure he has the most alt skins and helmets

'Mag sucks!" is a meme. it's more to get exactly the reaction your give it - your effort for their trivial amusement. If someone actually believes mag sucks, then they just lack the understanding of how good she actually is, or the skill to capitalize on her strengths.

I like the varied pull press duration affecting the power - maybe set it as tap for full rip, hold for slower chargeup to a more controlled CCing pull and ending in a channel, with the full channel being a controlled pull as well as trapping projectiles and hitscan as the  video indicates? releasing a full channel expels whatever it grabbed shotgun style. Sounds super cool, but also kinda OP.
