The Two Heks

So my friend wants to know which of the two Heks is better?  He wants to buy the new skin for it but he does not know which version does more damage and I am a bit of a casual so does anyone with experience know lol.

The normal Hek can equip a syndicate exclusive mod which gives it +200% multishot and a syndicate effect.

The Vaykor Hek cannot equip this mod, but has the same effect, innate, and better stats overall (crit).

 

Using the normal Hek forces you to use a mod slot to be on the same level as the Vaykor hek. That said, I believe the Vaykor is slightly better, but finding that much multishot (200%) on a shotgun, can consume a lot of mods, too.

 

While there is a difference between the two about this specific syndicate mod, they both can equip the same riven. If you have a Hek riven with multishot, the riven won't be as strong on a normal hek but quite mandatory for a Vaykor hek.

Hek Vaykor is a straight upgrade from normal Hek.

Depends on the build (doesn't it always? 😉). From my research and the different opinions I've absorbed I've come to see it this way:

Vaykor Hek is a better Crit build if you have Primed Ravage, etc. Regular Hek can outperform it in raw damage if you do not have those mods. Both are good, and both depend on what build. Before I sold my regular Hek it was at about 20,000 in mixed damages per shot. 

TLDR

Vaykor Hek+Primed Mods >or= Regular Hek with a lot of raw damage.

Hek can be powerful but stats wise Vaykor Hek outdoes the normal one (by little or a lot depends on the build).. but the syndicate proc makes Vaykor even more worth

Its very Simple.... Hek with scattered Justice is better than V.Hek.... UNTIL  you pick up Primed Ravage and Primed Point Blank...

V.Hek also gets alot more mileage from Rivens than regular Hek despite the rubbish disposition.

Sadly it was not. You want the Vaykor Hek.

Skins can be applied on any weapon version, IIRC. So, tell your friend to not worry and try both of them. Skin should be there for each of two.

Heks 4 shot magazine really brings down its effectiveness. 

I would suggest Vaykor Hek for just this reason alone. 

The syndicate mod will give more bullets to the Hek, but primed ravage will give a lot more damage per bullet to the Vaykor.

er, you could put the same Skins on both surely, so i don't see quite the connection there.

but anyways, Vaykor Hek will generally outperform Hek. and even has a longer upgrade path than vanilla Hek does (being able to use Crit Mods vs getting poor results from Crits).
Vaykor Hek ultimately deals significantly higher Damage per Shot than Hek, while also having a larger Magazine, higher Fire Rate, and higher effective Range.

Vaykor Hek is something of a 'Sniper Shotgun' FWIW, as all Crit Weapons are encouraged to shoot Weakpoints as much as possible for stacked Bonus Damage.
