Lord_Drod
Soo I didn't realize the gas city rework completely got rid of the old tiles. I'm kinda sad now...I miss Elara and Io and really all the old Jupiter tiles. The new tiles are too dark and depressing and boring because there's just too much stuff you get lost (like the new index map). I was happy when I first saw them, because I thought they were additional and had some new parkour things, but replacing the old tiles? I don't really see them as better. (XBOX)ShadowBlood89
The old tileset has some of it still in other corpus missions but as jupiter tileset always have been idealized as a gas city the rework to it was made to be more like how a gas city would look like. So they did that an changed how various thing in it would look too as warframe is evolving to have each planets tilesets be differnt from each other an will keep changing
Rathalio
Most of the old tiles have been upgraded not replaced. But for specific missions like Io and index I understand your feeling since it also changes a bit your gameplay.
Chewarette
They are awesome. Now these Jupiter bases feel real, old ones were maybe pretty but you didn't feel like this base served a purpose. Everything feels alive in Gas City. And in terms of design, they're a lot better than previously. That's a neat evolution. Regarding Io, old tileset had to be upgraded because in terms of gameplay, it sucks. There was literally one point with an open LoS on ALL the spawns and ALL the interception points (for Callisto). I expect the Grineer def/interceptions to be reworked the same way - Hydron/Helene-like are acceptable but could be increased in size, while Rhea (I think ? The one with a big thinggy in the middle and nothing all around)-like are completely bland Edited July 12, 2019 by Chewarette
Lord_Drod
The old tile was a lot more fun to play. It's a low level mission, great for learning/practicing the game/cracking relics. Now its just a dark maze except where the defense target is. You can still nuke it just as easily w warframe abilities. I guess the biggest issue is the terrible lighting. The changes would be easier to adjust to, if it wasn't so dark. The index map is too big as well. If they rework Uranus defense/interception I probably wouldn't care. How could it be worse? At least IO was fun to play. The cerberus tile (huge square map w defense in corner), reactor defense, kuva defense, pluto defense, uranus defense are all tiles I liked less than Jupiters. evilChair
the only legit problem the new gas city has is that the defence/interception tile is pretty horrible, since you have pillars and crates blocking your LoS (thereby reducing the inter-wave looting efficiency that the old "pyramid" tile had) and that the amalgams might be something that a new player can not beat and will have to run from, unlike ceres prosecutors, which are beatable even when you're a newbie. SirTobe
I like the new Gas City tiles, a lot more aesthetic, and the outsides are cool. The new index map is a bit broken though, both for spawns and some very dark rooms. I'm sure it will be fixed at some point. May just as well get used to darker maps though, since judging by the Tennocon videos we're moving over to more dynamic lighting and shadows with the upcoming engine update. A much needed change imo. Io in particular is a sad thing because in the new version enemies sometimes get stuck in the underground section. The is common issue with most defense map reworks. Maybe there is a checkbox "make enemies stuck". The old Io was the only map where you really felt powerful because enemies had to climb up the hill. I also miss aimgliding on old Io and then crash into a mob. The new Index map is just wrong for an arena map. Arena maps - for my taste - need to be more open. This one has too many tunnels and not enough line of sight. It would be a great map for interception though
(PSN)robotwars7
I think you just need time to get used to it. my only real peeve is I can never find those secret rooms they added...
MSEP1
I agree that the index Map is pretty annoying. I really liked the old one and didn’t even realize that was part of the gas city tile set. The other tiles I do like, though. Sure they are a little dark, but they are really fun to explore. I also like how they actually require parkour. I’ve only done interception maybe once, but it seemed all right. The defense mission seemed fine. It is at least more interesting now.
Fallen77
If you don't like it, that's your taste, all's well that ends well, can't argue with taste. Now, I've seen many complain about it because IO is no longer the lootcave it once was for relic grind. That is completely unacceptable complaint, oh so biased for all the wrong reasons. Don't know where OP stands between those two, seems the former, hope so
BDMblue
I honestly just like the new tiles more. Like a lot more.
Lord_Drod
Is the old music gone too? i liked the corpus music. I really did enjoy Aim gliding all around IO. Now its just not as connected. Kind of easier to get lost and not be w your teammates bashing some dudes. Jupiter isn't something I play often, or defense either, its just weird to come back to these levels and the connection to them is gone. The new levels just remind me of the disruption event. Yes, the textures are better, there's more to explore and things in them(including awesome parkour), but I'm not sure I like them as a full replacement. Before the bounties(and when I didn't like excavation starting out), I did play defense a lot more, but not much anymore. It seems like the lighting could still be a lot better. The recognizable geometry of all the old tiles are still there. They are only replaced in the sense of "irreversibly upgraded". There is only two tiles I know of that are truly and completely gone: an incredibly rare, incredibly enormous tile featuring two entire buildings that most players have never even seen, and the old defense/interception tile (the new one is a completely new one as opposed to an upgraded one)
