Dismissing it as 'Just a flu' is something you do at your own peril. For comparison, the Flu's mortality rate is about 0.02~0.05%, the Coronavirus appears to have a mortality rate of anywhere from 3~5% (or in Italy, 10%!!!), a minimum of 100 times more deadly than 'the flu.' It's airborne, but it's also contagious while an infected individual is asymptomatic (not showing symptoms), and individuals can be asymptomatic carriers for potentially 2 weeks before symptoms present, during which time they could be potentially infecting others (which, if you understand anything about epidemiology, is really goddamn scary). The media didn't 'blow it out of proportion'. They were simply some of the first public voices that decided to actually start listening to scientists, while politicians dragged their feet and said 'Oh it's not so bad, Oh it'll be fine' and meanwhile it's looking like 1 in 20 people are going to die unless a vaccine gets developed and deployed. 1 in 20. That means that you, or someone you know, will likely die as a result unless everyone starts really buckling down and practicing self isolation, quarantine measures and social distancing properly. Many countries completely dropped the ball when it came to what is clearly a historical pandemic. There's something to be said for a federal government and no state governments. Problem is when one or the other decides to not do their part it hurts both. This case it's federal mucking things up. Brazil's leader is completely adamant that the Coronavirus is either fake or 'just a cold' and that Brazilian citizens are 'too healthy to get sick' and a ton of complete nonsense. Basically sticking his fingers in his ears and going 'Lalalala can't hear you!' to scientists. Zero response. Kind of worried that Brazil is going to turn into or wind up worse than Italy. I haven't put the computer back together yet, so I haven't done the event yet. Sentients tend to die via Magnetize so I don't know how Counter Pulse effects them.
