how can it be that i can write a nearly 1000 word essay detailing the sheer scale of the wealth disparity and how it could end the current health crisis but it won't because people are bastards in an afternoon+evening

but i get stressed when told to write a 2000 word psychology over a period of several weeks

Edit: Got a reply. A-hole basically ignored everything I said. Should have expected that really. Pretty much just confirms he's a troll, so I just confirmed that the conversation was over, and apologised to the thread owner for the derailing.

Feels nice to be done with that nonsense.

I really need to learn to cut off conversations like this sooner...

Well, one work is judged by your peers, the other by a bunch of opinionated ignorami. While their counterarguments do have some merit, they are not presented in a constructive and non-combative way. And if you want an exhaustive conversation on the matter, you might still be typing away at it, when we get a vaccine.

The problem with your proposal, as I see it, is that it relies on the redistribution of wealth, which has a host of social, cultural and economic repercussions. Closely monitored and constantly adjusted taxation is one thing, but removing a large chunk of earnings from the richest and most productive entities by fiat will drive away said entities from your economic sphere, and damage innovative drive and productive mindset. There are plenty of real-life case studies, where the proposed methodology results in national brain-drain and apathy in the populace.

And the next time there is a crisis, governments tend to keep to the tried and true, and will take from those on the next-highest step on the economic ladder, then the third step under the next crisis, and a step lower at the crisis after that..., exacerbating the repercussions further.

If you want the additional workload, look at different countries, their social and cultural structures, their methodologies regarding the "Coof", and how they fared compared to each other. One very interesting study would be how the nordic countries handled it. Relatively alike in cultural, social and ethnic composition, high capacity top of the line medical facilities, economies that could take the beating, and a high access to information and research capabilities. TL;DR: Denmark and Sweden had nearly opposite responses to the pandemic, Denmark locking down tight, then opened up in steps. Sweden had close to no restrictions. Last I checked, Sweden seemed to have reached herd immunity, but suffered more than three times the casualties per capita, than Denmark.

But overall, don't throw grit encapsuled in calcium carbonate before entities of the porcine persuasion.

They ran out of pneumonia shots, so I have to wait until next week for that, which is just as well. The flu shot had me feeling a bit under the weather for a few days, me being immuno-compromised and all.

Oh, and coffee...

Indeed. I acknowledge that the systems are heavily stacked against this in practice (near the end of the post), although that's entirely on purpose.

My point is less that this is realisable in the current political climate - more that the fact it is impossible/heavily impractical despite the means existing in the hands of such a small number of people being evidence of the selfish behaviour I was talking about. But yeah, that's done with now, thank god. Probably best not to get back into the debate here. I don't need that kind of stress.

Also got called a socialist. That was fun.

That is the downside of folksonomy.

Eh, I don't mind. I certainly do hold at least some opinions that would qualify as such. Hence why I describe it as fun - it was most likely an insult, but if it was it failed hilariously.

Next update should be hitting in less than two hours. Are you all excited?

Wait what? Really? Naberus/Arcana so soon?

Do we have a source or is this just average update time?

Oh, bugger! I mistook the console update deploying now as an all-platform update. Grumble...

Every time I muster up a little bit of enthusiasm...

No, no, common mistake.

'Leprosy Prone Wallabys'.

Oh. I see.

So the update will waddle onto the scene at the eleventh hour, make a mess of its surroundings and we'll find several pieces missing.

"sigh" I feared as much.

On a different note, I need a fair number of these.

I've stopped buying character models and plan on converting rank and file models instead. I'm not going to pay those silly prices for one model, that costs two-thirds of the price of a box with an entire squad. Besides, I have about 35 years worth of bits and modelling materials lying around.

Also got some new sculpting tools I've been itching to try out.
