Warframe X Monster Hunter: how would it work

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

After the great art work which was posted, I went over a thread I wrote up some time ago and cleaned it up a little to make a bit more sense per game.
A cross over would certainly work with both franchises, the question becomes which bits would leak over between the games.

Decorations/set bonuses and mods make up the same aspect - allowing for greater customisation

Weapons have their synergies too. For reference the Hysterix allows for the weapon to change munition types just like you can in MH.
Both longsword and dual blade should have increased channel efficiency and damage to make them similar in function to MH and their different modes of play

Long sword = nikana/two handed nikana
Insect glaive = polearm/staff
Dual blade = dual dagger (an unloved weapon class)
LBG = rifle with Hysterix passive
HBG = arch gun with Hysterix passive
Bow = bow
Hammer = hammer
Charge blade/Switch axe/Greatsword = heavy blade
Gun Lance/Lance = sword and shield (not sure about this) or perhaps introduce lances to Warframe
Sword and shield = sword and shield
Hunting horn = ?

Gear tree wise; for MHW
Base gear - builds into prime
Rank 6/7 - 7/8 - 9/10 when Master Rank rolls around

Armour could match to the first 8 Warframes.

Eg.
Trinity armour gives wide range, speed eater, free meal, tool specialist.

Rhino armour gives defence boost, guard/guard up and blast.

The question also comes to whether the armour should be kept as a set like with Witcher crossover or to use them as individual parts like with the final fantasy cross over

For Warframe; we could get decorations as mods.
Bow charge +
Boosting raw damage (damage without adding elemental mods)
Razor sharp for armour ignore/reduction perhaps like beta days of old...

Vaal Hazak mod for passive heal Regen/viral damage pulse in an PBAoE.

Nergi mod would heal for a percent of damage dealt.

Xeno mod would give increased efficiency on everything related to firearms with spare shot being very useful or perhaps increasing channel efficiency/damage.

As for monsters coming to the Warframe universe - a void portal/the void itself going awry and introducing them to the plains and the vallis. Both areas of which work well for many monsters in being forest and snow; the only issue from MH side would be the scaling of health of the monsters and what drops/if we could skin/harvest them like the hunters do rather than the corpses dissolving like they do in Warframe.

Mission wise, void shenanigans would be the way to get it to work much in the same way as Witcher - characters that would work would be darvo, clem and maroo for their peculiarities matching the humour of MHW.
As we have had missions to kill lesser mobs, kubrows, kavats and their grineer counterparts would work well. Even the infested chargers would certainly cause chaos in the new world.

Not too mention that there is also the orokin key beetle at the start of the plains of eidolon cinematic that would make an interesting kinsect

Just some thoughts,

Thank you for reading,

-Phyrak

As long as the enemies are actually deadly and require you to learn their patterns and avoid their attacks in order to succeed, then I'm down. Bosses should be hard, and you should have a real chance of losing if you aren't good at the game.

*Insert "it's too hard" crying here

If an FF and Witcher can crossover, the fact that the fanart got such traction could certainly bring some hope for it to occur 🙂

The answer to the question in the title is very simple: It shouldn't.

Witcher and final fantasy both had crossovers - both have a way to make it work.

Yes, Warframe is more along the high sci-fi side with space magic and cloning etc but there is always something to hold onto. The Reddit threads across the the MonHun subs and Warframe went ballistic with the hopes of a crossover and how they could play together. The above is simply how both games would benefit each other

Sounds good to me
