Dual Keres are dual swords and would be a better choice to start with due to its build variety and power. Lacera is a blade and whip. I would try both out to see which one you enjoy more, but starting with Dual Keres is a safe start.

Dual keres is a dual sword, simple, effective and can have good builds and has combos which are simple to execute,

Lacera is a blade and whip, needs good (relatively rare) stances to work well. Has combos that take some getting used to, has limited builds which are effective due to its damage type.

I suggest to use dual ceres for now, and go to lacera only after you acquire its stances.

Avoid comparing melee weapons outside their weapon types.

They vary a lot on the attack types damage bonuses and forced procs based on the stances they use. Bladewhips do have some similar attacks to Swirling Tiger stance from Dual swords however I've personally dropped that stance for Carving Mantis. Either way the modifiers are different.

Keres are a heavy damage Dual sword which slightly lack in status rates. Lacera is a heavy status Bladewhip that lack raw damage. They're used for almost polarized purposes. Lacera is great for chewing through armor or spewing out Gas procs. Keres is good for flat damage mostly on unarmored targets. However like I mentioned stances play a big roll which makes them hard to compare. Both Carving Mantis and Snapdragon have forced Slash procs allowing any weapon that uses them to deal with armor better.

When it comes to Bladewhips I think you'll be happier with Mios as it takes some very hefty armor to see the value in Lacera.

For Dual Swords, Keres, Prisma Dual Cleavers and Nami Prime are all top performers with slight variations on what they're good with.
