This guy should lead the art direction of Warframe.

Unpopular Opinion : All Deluxe Skins are awful and bad

Not all. A couple are quite good.

However, several are rather...lets just call them rather "unwarframe".

This lot falls into that category.

The Ash skin doesn't even look like it belongs to Warframe tbh. If you were to show me that and ask me what franchise it belonged to, I might say Assassin's Creed. It definitely does not fit the Warframe art style.

Objectively speaking, that Ash skin is well designed and detailed, and consistent to it's own style. But for the universe it's supposed to belong to? No. It's jarringly out of the art style.

Yes, the artists should push the boundaries of the art style, but they should never flat ignore it. It is just one skin, but it's still very strange and out of universe to me. Consistency is very important, and I feel like there is a certain emphasis on that for video games. It is okay, encouraged even, for the style to evolve as time goes on. I mean, look at Excalibur and Mag and then look at a newer frame like Wisp. Excalibur and Mag are very human, very simple. Wisp's proportions are a little on the strange side, and her design is much more complex, but not overly so. She still fits in with older Warframes, even if she looks different.

My point is- Not following the established style is usually not good. Good art =/= should be director of art.

But then again, this is all completely subjective, so idk

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Art is subjective and I don't think I've seen a single artist who has captured the totality of "warframe" on their own.

While this artists work is certainly fine from a technical standpoint (very skillful), I don't particularly care for their aesthetic.

I want this guy to do a frost skin. In my opinion the only good frost skin is the harker skin.

Ive always hated the over look of frost, something about his chunkiness and head and shape of his legs that puts me off.

Yes I whr thing the same about this... we need something cool in his design direction for the Frost.

yeah, pretty sure Geoff's got the job on lock. Not only is he a great administrator, he's also been with the company a long, long time. Warframe's art is fantastic. This guy's stuff just doesn't fit that mold, like how his Ash Deluxe is obviously much more suited to Inaros.

And I'd like to remember that we have Octavia in the game. Octavia. That's the exact moment where all art design just went "well, #*!% it" and they will just allow anything from that point onwards, because consistency is no longer a thing.

I agree with OP. Someone needs to bring back the old, more serious style of Warframe, and try to rework or just remove Octavia and some outliers.

That's exactly what i think, i wouldn't have said it better.

Well when i see the Rhino skin of Arsen Ansyrankulov, that's's pure awesomeness in my mind.

Look at the details, everywhere. Sort of biomechanical suit with some DOOM, Dead Space and Alien influences.

I want too some more serious design to feet the spirit of Warframe, less crazy and fantasy things.

His art looks great because it is deviating from the norm. But once it becomes the norm, it will just be boring and repetitive. You can look at the music industry for plenty of examples of that,

whose slogan is "Ninjas Play Free"?

That is what I'm trying to say, but most people has gotten used to the westernized 'version' of the game.

The game used the word 'ninjas', used references of ancient chinese & japanese feudal age stuffs like kneeling, lotus, sword wave(excalibur's 4) to start the image of this game, but soon all those are forgotten in time. Though it is not said now is no good, but those starting inspirations has been forgotten and this game has turned into pure sci-fi techno-suits with occassion taking references from chinese & japanese feudal age stuffs.

It's just like Dark Souls, with a few stuffs like a japanese armor(ds2) or some katanas. Then people want a real japanese version which Nioh and Sekiro was born. Now Warframe is just like Dark Souls, not Nioh or Sekiro. So I rather they drop the ninja slogan. Just saying. hehe

Hard pass from me. Too greebly.

So you don't like serious design style,ok but you like when your deluxe have big ass or  atlas deluxe look like its from warcraft game. Or like 80% deluxe skins that are not fit for warframe style and lore but just because its in the game you look in totally different directions and its fine. But something like this that is just in sone darker tone but in similar direction then hell no because its to dark. But you all forgot before all this rainbow and butterfly things, warframe whose much darker with stalker and graphics style before all this... so yea his skins are more fitting In old school warframe then what we have in the game.

Are you people legit saying that a ninja-like stylization doesn't belong in a game whose slogan is "Ninjas Play Free"?

Well to be fair, ninjas are meant to blend in, not stick out. You'd be a pretty terrible ninja if everyone knew you were a ninja... So really Warframes should look like they are wearing peasant yukatas or something. Anyway, that's semantics and the whole whether it's ninja themed or not is moot because Warframe has never been about ninjas. We are more like mercenaries or a private military.

I'd argue design went "whatev" earlier than Octavia from a visual design standpoint. Unless you are talking ability-wise then I'd agree with you.
