Was Octavia nerfed?

So I just used Octavia after several months or even more than that. And it was dreadful. Everything seemed fine at first, but then I noticed my kill count didnt increase at all. Enemies got literally no damage from my mallet with amp or they got like 3 damage per second. I thought it was lags at first, but it wasnt. It seems that theyve nerfed Octavia hard. Anyone knows what was done to her and why? Why do I have like 1 kill instead of 160 kills on earth defense with the weakest mobs?

Well, Mallet damage only increases with damage from enemies. If the enemies weren't hitting the Mallet before dying, that's probably why your Mallet wasn't doing much.

If that's definitely not the case, were there any Ancient Disruptors around? Those guys reduce ability damage by 90% on their nearby allies.

Aand theres the problem. As mention above mallet work by reflecting enemies damage to the mallet. Earth mob did very small damage so the reflection is also small. Try tier 4 void. You’ll see that thousands number again

It also had a base damage component last I checked, based on Power Strength. If that's gone, then it is indeed a nerf.

The reason why I posted this is because I had completely different results with the exact same build on the exact same map before. There has to be something wrong. Yes, on higher level enemies it does some damage, but its either lower than before or the same, and point is, that higher level enemies dont get killed by it (because it is so slow and others steal your kill). Thats why I always used these skills in lower level missions which could clear the enemies by itself. It was the only time Octavia was actually a DD and not a support. So, yeah maybe Ill go for medium level enemies which should logically be the best choice now, but it used to be way better before as far as I remember.

The only change I can think of that could affect your result is the tweaks to AI they recently did in batches. Perhaps the enemies spend more time trying to hide behind covers instead of just shooting the mallet? I didn't notice any problems, but I'm playing Octavia semi-regularly in open worlds and ESO, so perhaps I wouldn't notice any gradual changes.

That could be it. Either they hide more or they refuse to shoot the mallet (or both).

Seems about the same as she has been.

Octavia is one of those 'frames where what she does isn't necessarily always readily apparent. Low level enemies will barely be around long enough to get trapped in her symphony of doom. You, your teammates, your pets/sents,, and whathaveyou will be killing them faster than they can really react to much of anything.

Also, results are pretty variable when you look at how the action develops and what exactly Octavia herself is doing. If she's on the move, then her damage is going to be more dependent on her guns than her kit. The longer a fight goes, the higher the enemy level, and the less Octavia herself is moving around, the more you'll see her abilities come to the forefront of what mayhem she can inflict.

Make no mistake: she can inflict a lot of mayhem--it's just highly situational.
