Warframes that compliment Gara?

Question

Hey there fellow members.

I am still VERY new (we are talking a few days) to this game, so I was hoping to get some input from some people with more experience. Apologies in advance if this was answered elsewhere, I did do a search first but didn't find anything that specifically addressed the question.

I think I understand that the selection of a warframe is really up to individual choice/preference. Sure some will be better/worse in specific situations, but overall it is up to your play style. That said, I have a friend who has been playing the game for a few months and plays Gara exclusively, so I was wondering if anyone here could recommend warframes that I could place that would compliment Gara's play style. I don't have any specific missions/objectives in mind so I guess I'm thinking more about just all-round good synergies in game. I was considering Saryn if it helps (yea, I know it will be a while before i can farm up enough to pick her up, but that's cool with me).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers.

You really don't need a frame that compliments gara because gara does so much so well that, unless you're doing high level missions, she can round out her own weaknesses with a few things here and there.

That said, if you do want to pick frames that work well with her I'd say anything that provides sustained healing/shield recharge, increases max HP, increases shields, increases armor. Any of those but preferably healing first. The reason being with only intensify your splinter storm provides ANYONE with 90% damage reduction which uniquely applies to shields when compared to armor. This means any healing/recharge or bonus health/shields gets multiplied by 10 before factoring in armor. Rejuvenation usually sounds terrible, right? Well think of it this way. It heals 30/s now.

Frames that do this: Wisp, harrow, hildryn, mag, volt (augment), oberon, chroma, trinity, garuda.

My personal picks in order of best to worst are: Trinity, harrow, wisp.

Gara uses a ton of energy. If you don't have plenty of resources to make a bunch of pads, garas spectrorage augment, or haven't done the second dream yet, she can run out of energy quick. Trinity just in terms of sheer power is the best in my eyes. She can stack 2 75% damage resists on herself and one on allies, and with gara's 90% it's absurd how survivable she is while also being able to heal and provide infinite energy. Harrow can provide energy and healing as well as massive survivability for himself with the shields gained from his 1st ability mixed with the 90% DR as well as adding great damage modifiers and CC. Wisp is the best IF your gara can sustain her own energy because the sheer amount of HP and regen you can add from 1 ability on top of the offense boost and mild constant CC is unparalleled for a team with 90% DR.

As for the other picks, they are good but it really depends what you like to play there. Chroma adds massive damage and HP if you stick next to him but it's a hassel. Garuda requires enemies to be positioned right which can't happen with gara's ult and spectrorage. Oberon can add a crazy level of sustainability with status immunity, health regen, and massive armor boost which compounds off your 90% DR further, as well as CC and damage if you need it. Mag and volt are there if you like them mostly. They do their own thing and are good but all they offer is to give shields to people which, while good with 90% DR, is a little outclassed by the sustained heal other frames. I'd actually say those last 2 are complited by gara more.

Those are frames that just directly support gara since she can already do so much. The 90% DR can help a few frames way more.

Any squishy frames can just run at anything with no fear whatsoever. As mentioned mag/volt, but banshee can provide some crazy CC and insane damage potential through breaking armor and multiplying damage to a ridiculous degree but normally is very fragile. With 90% DR and the saftey of drawing agro and being protected by a giant wall however, you can fill out any other roll that isn't healing with her.

Really any frame works with her because she can just make you nigh immortal, but those are some examples of the best team play you could really accomplish with her.

I will highlight a dumb use with volt and wisp, if you charge up splinter storm a lot and use either volt or wisps speed, you can just run into enemies at mach 10 and instantly kill them all.

Gara is already a nuke. So saryn would be more of a completion than a complement.

Feeding people energy with trin is always nice. And then there are the buffers: nidus, Octavia, equinox can all have buff focused builds. Tho gara can get in the way of octavia’s Other powers (literally).

Edit: tho reading thru the post above me I would say a 2 focused banshee would be best once you are to levels where a single break of gara’s no longer kills everything

I Reccomend Nezha with Both The Reaping Chakram & Safeguard Augments... this will drop some Energy orbs for Gara and more importantly..... Will Bless Gara with The Gift of Knock Down Immunity.... I know it doesn't seem like Much but I really hate Knockdowns..... being able to outright ignore them is my idea of Heaven.....

Gara is pretty much a jack of all trades. There really isn't anything she lacks when it comes to completing missions.

However, she's a big help for warframes without their own DR features. She pairs up nicely with low health/low armor 'frames. She can make them much more survivable while still doing what she does so well.

The only thing where she could use some shoring up is energy production. The operator can cover this reasonably well, but high strength Gara builds do benefit quite a bit from any 'frame that can provide energy. Otherwise, you tend to end up with high efficiency builds. They work well (very well...), but are a bit limiting. If you want to throw those limits off, then someone that can provide regular energy infusions is helpful.

As a big Gara player myself, I agree a lot with what Annnoth and Sloan441 said above. I just wanted to throw a couple of suggestions into the pile:

1) Nova. This can be a fun pair with most AOE frames. Plus, Nova has some DR herself. Just do your research and chat with your buddy first on whether they want a Speedva or a Slowva for any particular mission.

2) Loki. A splinter-storm Gara is badly allergic to surprise nullifiers. A quick enough Loki can assassinate them before anyone's the wiser. Plus Loki's disarm turns all opponents into melee only, so they run to the Gara instead of the Gara needing to go to them.

Those are just a couple of ideas though. An energy efficient Gara is pretty self sufficient, so you can play whatever you're most interested in. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I love Gara, but because I use Mesa/Saryn for almost everything, Gara is my go-to for Defense missions. Since I have been seeing more Garas' pop up in Defense missions I bench my Gara and complement with Trinity for the endurance runs, or Nova(Speedva or Slowva) for maximun damage and explosions.

EV Trinity with Gara's splinter storm is just the right amount of defense for warframes without invincibility.

There are two frames that might work, at least since Gara has most of what is needed.

Trinity - for those high energy needs.

Nova - slowva/speedva, extra damage/cc ... The possibilities...

Or a Necros, can't go wrong with that.

WOW, what amazing feedback!! Thank you all so much, I was not expecting such good and detailed feedback - what a great community 🙂

Based on everyone's feedback I think I'll give trinity a go, fortunately my friend has access to pluto so I should be able to start farming her parts soon.

Special shout out to @Annnoth for the super detailed response (that was really helpful).

Let's start the grind 😛
