[Warframe Concept] Proteus the Evolver

Proteus

This is Proteus, the evolver, the ever changing.  Proteus constantly adapts to the fight and his environment.  What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, Tenno.

Health: 125 (400 at rank 30)/ add 25 health if Puncture weapon is equipped

Shields: 100 (400 at rank 30)

Armor: 50/75 if Impact weapon equipped

Energy: 120 (200 at rank 30)

Sprint Speed: 1.25/2 if Slash weapon equipped

Passive: Abilities change based on the primary damage type of his equipped melee weapon.  Will only use Impact/Slash/ Puncture.  If no melee weapon is equipped or no physical damage type, will default to Impact.

Proteus will not use the equipped melee weapon.  Instead his arms (and body) become living weapons and his melee attacks will use the attacks and combos unique to him and the damage type.

o   Impact weapon: His arms and body will morph into heavy weapons.  The attack combos are slower with high attacks and ground pounds. His attacks will shift into spiked flails, large mauls and crushing maces.  These attacks have a high Impact status chance.

o   Slash weapon: His arms and body will morph into curved slashing weapons. His attacks shift into curved scythes, ripping claws and deadly blades.  The attack combos are wide and sweeping. These attacks have a high Slash status chance.

o   Puncture weapon: His arms and body will morph into piercing spines, spikes and long spears.  The attack combos focus on reach and quick thrusting attacks.  The attacks have a high Puncture status chance.

Proteus’ dodge and bullet jump also changes based on his equipped weapon type.  He morphs into a liquid like form protruding weapon like appendages based on his equipped weapon type.  He will damage enemies near him during dodges and bullet jumps.

o   Impact weapon: He morphs from his liquid metal form into a living wrecking ball crushing enemies in his way.

o   Slash weapon: He morphs from his liquid metal form into a rolling, slashing, mass of blades.

o   Puncture weapon:  He morphs from his liquid metal form into a mass of spines and quills impaling anything near him.

Abilities:

1.       Morphing Weaponry: 

Energy: 25: Energy drain: 25/22/18/15

Strength: 100/115/125/150 Range: 10/12/15/18

Toggle to attack all the enemies in the area.  The attack is unique, based on his equipped melee weapon type.  This attack will use combo modifiers.

o   Impact weapon: Both arms become heavy mauls and he pounds the ground in front of him, crushing any enemy near him and creating shock-waves that damages and slows enemies in range. 

o   Slash weapon: Both arms become cruel scythes.  Proteus spins around during the ability damaging all enemies causing high slash procs on all enemies.  Enemies slain during the ability will add to the combo counter.

o   Puncture weapon: Proteus lashes out with stinging tendrils in all directions.  Enemies are damaged and Proteus siphons a small portion of health from damaged enemies.

Living Weapon Augment: Allows Proteus to move during the channel at half his speed.  Jumping, dodging or bullet jumping will cancel the ability. Movement doubles the energy cost during channel.

 

2.       Reactive Armor:

Energy: 50

Strength: 10/20/40/50 Duration: 10/15/20/25 Misc: 2%/4%/8/%/12%

Proteus gains increased protection based on his equipped melee weapon type.  While active will gain a stacking resistance to physical attack types made against him.

o   Impact weapon:  Gains armor and increased resistance to Impact damage.  While active all attacks have a chance of knocking down enemies.

o   Slash weapon: Gains movement speed and increased resistance to Slash damage and has a chance of negating attacks made against him.  While active increases Slash periodic damage.

o   Puncture weapon: Gains health and increased resistance to Puncture damage.  While active attacks made against him will return a portion of the damage back at enemies.

Mercurial Skin Augment:  Allies in 25m range gain the first half of the buff.

 

3.       Living Missile:

Energy: 50 Health

Strength: 100/200/400/500

Proteus launches a portion of his body at enemies dealing high damage.  Effects vary depending on melee weapon type equipped. 

o   Impact weapon: Launches a huge crushing mass of his living metal frame.  Enemies struck are knocked back and their armor is reduced.

o   Slash weapon: Launches a spinning blade of living metal slashing and slowing enemies.  High Slash status effect.

o   Puncture weapon: Launches a long spear impaling enemies.  Missile splinters apart at the end of its flight and damages enemies within range causing high chance of Puncture status.

Return to Sender Augment:  Leaves a portion of the missile behind.  If Proteus recovers it he heals 25 health and his Missile cooldown is reset and the next missile will do 10% more damage.

 

4.       Environmental Adaptation:

Energy: 100

Strength: varies Duration: 25/30/35/50 Misc: 2%/4%/6%/10%

Proteus adapts to the environment and gains benefits based on the environment of the mission he is in.

o   Grineer (this includes Plains of Eidolon day cycle): Proteus grows in size and gains increased health and Fire resistance and his attacks can reduce enemy armor.  He gains a small damage increase against Grineer.

o   Corpus (this includes Orb Vallis): Proteus grows electrodes from his back and has increased shields and shield regeneration and resistance to Electricity.  His attacks regenerate a small portion of his shields and can gain over-shield.  He gains a small damage increase against Corpus.

o   Infested: Proteus creates redundant immune systems within his frame and gains increased resistance to Toxin damage and all status effects last half the time on him during the duration of this ability.  He gains a small damage increase against Infested.

o   Orokin: Proteus’ liquid self becomes gilded and grants increased health regeneration and attack speed and his attacks inflict Bullet Attract.  He gains a small damage increase against Orokin.

o   Sentient (this includes Plains of Eidolon night cycle) : Proteus hardens his body and gains Sentient like appendages.  He gains increased Tau damage resistance.  His attacks have a small chance of removing Sentient damage resistance.  He gains a small damage increase against Sentient.

High Evolution Augment: Proteus evolves even further but ability cost is increased by 25 energy.  Grineer: Gains increased armor/ Corpus: Gains a Nullifier bubble that will absorb damage and nullify a nearby enemy buff/ Infested: gains a health regeneration aura/ Orokin: gains a random Reactant Buff/ Sentient: Grants damage adaptation after 25% health lost to a specific damage type.

 

Appearance:

I’m no artist, so I’ll do my best to describe him.  He is a tall and lithe frame, more bulky than Nekros, like Nekros but with muscles around the bones.  His default “face” is smooth and polished with very little extra on the helmet, it’s just a clean smooth surface.  The frame body is also smooth, with muscles rippling like mercury.  There are portions of an exoskeleton where his liquid metal form hardens to create structure and form.  The whole look should invoke fluidity and the flowing of quicksilver. 

The silhouette is much like Excalibur or Ash, he doesn’t have extra “clothes” or skirts like Volt or Limbo. 

During Environmental Adaptation:

Grineer: He gets larger and bulkier, like Rhino where he forms hardened plates on his frame and his “face” changes to look vaguely like a Grinner trooper (like Clem).

Corpus: He grows electrodes from his back and he ripples with electricity with power arcing off of his frame.  His “face” becomes rectangular looking somewhat like a Corpus helmet.

Infested: He gets veins of organic like tendrils throughout his frame (similar to Nidus), and his face is partially obscured by a “gasmask” like structure. 

Orokin: Where the liquid metal is prominent in his frame, it has a golden cast to it and arcs with Orokin energy.  His body also grows golden structures like Prime parts.

Sentient: His back gets Sentient like growths and his arms and legs appear to look like Sentient limbs and his “face” changes to look like a Sentient.

Alternate Helmets:

Morpheus Helmet: The front is a smooth structure but it is longer and forms several tendrils in the back.  Where the eyes would be he has a dark, angular visor like structure.

Quicksilver Helmet:  Very smooth vaguely humanoid form. The whole face is in a constant state of flux where it ripples and churns.

 

Custom Weapon:

Mercury Blade:

Like the Dark Split Sword, this weapon changes depending on the stance mod you slot.  For and Impact heavy weapon, you can slot a Hammer Mod, for Puncture you can slot a Pole-arm Mod and for Slashing you can slot a Sword Mod.  

In Proteus' hands, the weapon will give his melee attacks increased range.

Man , you #*!%ed your theme right on the passive , you recreated what I like to call the Chroma problem . A frame described as adaptable , only changes skills if you go back to the orbiters.

Supposing you fing a way to allow Proteus to change form during mission, The 1,2 and 3 are good skills as long as you balance each form a bit.

Pre set effects agaist each faction don't really feel like adaptation. A better example of adaptation is the adaptation mod( you take a type of damage , you adapt and take less of that type of damage ) .Mayde ad a list of events and a list of adaptations.

Overall I feel like you have too spli this frame in 2. 1 frame a living metallic weapon , that will chage it's shape and properties to defeat hia foes( uses the current 1,2,3 ). The ultimaye life form ., a frame based on adapting to the invoroment , alwaus adapting to whatever you thrown at him.( uses the 4 )
