Tholkemosad
[Redacted] Until someone else brings this topic to light, consider me to have withdrawn this statement. I sense it is an issue of player skill and knowledge, rather than unfair mechanics, and I would like to thank you all for the helpful feedback. Dear DE, I would like to start out with an acknowledgement; The Nightwave system is awesome, do not get me wrong, I really like it in general. And thus it is with a heavy heart, that I am writing this post, because I really am struggling with one Nightwave Task in particular - Conservationist. I find this task absurd because of a many of reasons. 1) You need to have a rather pinpoint sound system, to tell which direction the quarry will come from 2) The quarry often startles easily, making it next to impossible, to get a perfect capture 3) There is a bug, that even when you accomplish a perfect capture, it does not count toward task progression(but still towards achievement progression), if I.e. there are other quarries left in the pack 4) Conservation as an activity does not even compare with catching rare fish, meaning that 6 perfect captures is just plain silly, as 6 rare fish captures are doable. Just to make sure, I am not advocating for removing Conservationist, not at all - It is a good task in concept. I am also NOT advocating for making the rare fish catcher task more challenging, please, for the love of the Lotus, do not get that idea! What I am advocating for is making the task easier, either by lowering the amount of perfect captures needed say 3, or by recognizing any capture of good to perfect towards the 6/6 required. Thank you for the great game you've provided, Sincerely, Tholkemosad Edited August 3, 2019 by Tholkemosad

I says they have to be different species. And i also find it hard to locate the animal, but since i really never did captures, my Helios scans them when they appear. That makes it super easy to complete.

With those I'm able to get perfect captures despite having game volume at basically 0% and playing Metal on my speakers. 45 minutes ago, Tholkemosad said: 2) The quarry often startles easily, making it next to impossible, to get a perfect capture Practice makes perfect. I mean come on, there needs to be at least a few NW 'challenges' that couldn't be completed just as easily if you had a migraine. 47 minutes ago, Tholkemosad said: 4) Conservation as an activity does not even compare with catching rare fish, meaning that 6 perfect captures is just plain silly, as 6 rare fish captures are doable. Seems like a repeat of 2) so the same applies.

I was able to get six perfect captures across six attempts. Every single time I used Enemy Radar and/or the Tranq Rifle’s highlighting feature. The animals won’t get startled if you are invisible and can aim. Ivara has invisibility and a passive Enemy Radar. 57 minutes ago, Tholkemosad said: 3) There is a bug, that even when you accomplish a perfect capture, it does not count toward task progression(but still towards achievement progression), if I.e. there are other quarries left in the pack This is lack of reading the NW challenge, not a bug. It states that you must catch different animals. DE wants you to use the lure at six different locations. If you used pack animals it would require just two, this would be appropriate for a daily mission, not a weekly. 52 minutes ago, Tholkemosad said: 4) Conservation as an activity does not even compare with catching rare fish, meaning that 6 perfect captures is just plain silly, as 6 rare fish captures are doable This just comes down to you needing to get better at it. Sure, it takes longer, but that is due to travel time, not difficulty. I found the conservation one many times easier than fishing, and more useful. I barely bother with conservation, so I needed the tags. I got six perfect capture out of six attempts. It was incredibly easy. I really think DE needs to just keep it how it is. Not all challenges need to be made easier than turning the game on.

lifulo
When will people stop whining about every single nightwave task and start doing them properly? 1) If you can't hear where they come from, wait for them to come to the baiting spot. Use Helios to scan them whenever they're close so you can spot them more easily. 2) Use an invisible frame, couldn't be any more simple. 3) It's not a bug. You need to capture 6 different animals, the task clearly says that. 4) Again, this is your problem that you're not doing it properly.
Belmira
So catching 4 different white-breasted vermink at 4 different locations does not count? 🙄 This is tedious. If the intent is to have us capture 6 different species/sub-species then that needs to be clear. Not just 6 different captures. I did well over 6 and they did not count. Each was in a different location on the map. One animal per location. edit: These were each "Perfect Captures" as well. --RV--Dopekoke
I understand there is no tutorial, i think, but its not hard to learn.

It's not a matter of whether the task is hard or not hard. I agree that conservation is not a difficult task. What I'm frustrated about is the clarity of the assignment. 6 different perfect captures simply means 6 successful perfect captures---it does not mean 6 different perfect captures of 6 different animals. If DE coded the assignment to be more specific in requiring 6 different species caught, then the instructions should be specific as well. As in--"Complete 6 Perfect Captures of 6 Different Orb Vallis Species". That is succinct but more specific.
Belmira
I also have to note that prior to the most recent hotfix, I was at a count of 3/6 perfect captures completed. After the latest hotfix (which took place yesterday for the Dog Days Event), today I completed 4 Perfect Captures and the counter did go up to 4/6 but once I went back to Fortuna, it went back down to 3/6. Perhaps it is bugged?

If you complete it then it shouldn’t glitch - as far as I have noticed, progress gets saved on completion (like with rivens). Your method would pick up bugs though.

I was able to accomplish the task a few moments ago. However, I do believe it's also in part thanks to the fact that I just ranked up with Solaris United and gained access to Stovers. The remaining catches I needed I was able to obtain---I believe---because I've never caught Stovers before. I probably would have been able to complete the objective without access to this new species--I don't know--but I think it helped.
(PSN)AyinDygra
I caught at least 2 white-breasted male Verminks in a row, and they both counted, (separate captures, obviously, they're not pack animals.) I've caught them and they were perfect captures, and they didn't count... I've completed perfect captures, and when the Nightwave act update came up (that usually tells you your new current/needed act tally), it was just the background graphic, and no text, and it remained on screen until I returned to Fortuna. No sound-bite from Nora either. Something is buggy/wonky, and until that's fixed, something needs to be done about the requirements. (I had to catch WAY more than 6 separate perfect captures to finish this... and I helped a friend do his too...) Ideally, if it has to be kept, it would simply be "3 separate hunts" (up to 5... it's just so tedious and the corpus are so annoying, and the system is so buggy, with tracks not appearing, animals spooking as soon as the correct call is made, etc... all things that happened multiple times during my hunts this time around.)
