Dog Days is Lame

(Sigh) I just seem to be complaining a lot today.

I just quit Elder Scrolls Online because there are so many goofy costumes that any sense of immersion in Elder Scrolls lore is completely gone.  It's been bad for a while but I had finally had enough.

At least Warframe is immersive right?

Why are there beachballs and water squirters?  It's just lame.  Are we trying to pull in 8-year olds now?

Sorry, I'm probably the only person that thinks this is cheap, pointless, and immersion-breaking.  It's just a bit of fun, right?  (Sigh).

That's a freaking summertime event. It'll be over in 10 days, deal with it.

And grow up.

Rudeness at this level with a "deal with it" argument is the exact reason why a lot of feedback doesn't get read in the forums. Could you not be such a $&*^ dude?

Great.  I can't wait for the the Thanksgiving Event (yes, Canada has it too), the Halloween Event, the Christmas Event, the Valentines Day Event, the St Patricks Day Event, the Easter Event, the Independence Day Event (ok maybe not - but Canada probably has something like that).

It's all goofy events at first, but eventually you look at your team-mates and they're all wearing bunny ears and candy canes, and jester's hats, and shamrocks and water wings, and they have "drunk" animations and you go - WTF am I playing?

Dog Days

Snowball Fights

Candy Cane weapon skins

Floofs

Cosmetics

Collectibles

Having more than 1 frame

These are all things that add to the fun aspect of a video game. They are not for every single player but some people enjoy some of these and I betcha there are a few of the human race that enjoy lots of these.

If you are not finding the offside things that are not destroying sprites with other sprites the player control up to your standards, find what you do enjoy and do that. These are all optional in a game where the only things you do if you want to play the lore is the questline from Vor to Chimera Prologue.

If an event is giving you this much grief, time to figure out what you are lacking in life that this is bothering you this much.

Hope it works out for you

We already have, like, at least half of those.

I'm still trying to think of an appropriate answer that doesnt sound agressive.

Because this has like... "Devs are having a bit of fun to celebrate Real Holidays in-game and this is laaaammmeeee" kind of vibe.

 Its an event in an online game ffs.

What immersion are you talking about it's not a role playing club. Literally every game has some of these, Christmas one at the very least.

Like, what do you suggest? Celebrsting Orokin downfall, or Margulis' Birthday instead? Imagine how dumb it would be.

Yeah, and it's not like it's even an uncommon practice among live service games. It's just a fun change-up. Don't see who pissed in OP's cereal.

We should definitely celebrate the Clemperor's birthday as an april's fools event.

I'm disappointed by the lack of Clems to collect in the beach event too.

I agree with the general sentiment, but I also think it's a bit exaggerated in this context.

The Division 2 is also running a summer apparel event, and instead of cool looking tactical gear, we get sandals with socks, shorts with the American flag on it, and a bunch of other butt ass ugly clothes. It is a bit stupid to see people running around in this stuff, and it also means there won't be any tactical gear until the next DLC comes outs in November/December. So I definitely hate it there.

But I don't see the problem here. This event is pretty sequestered from the rest of the game. You don't have to participate in it for the 10 days that it's around. Plus, I didn't see any outrageous cosmetic items for sale by Nakah. The ball floofs are private to individuals' landing crafts. So I don't really see how this event kills immersion of the game. I could understand if you saw people with tubes around their warframes in regular missions. But all of the ridiculous stuff is sequestered to the event itself, and the rewards aren't ridiculous.

So again, while I certainly understand the sentiment, it doesn't really seem to me to apply in this case. (I also just started playing ESO two months ago, so I'm not too familiar with all the lore stuff there.)

A temporary and completely optional event breaks your immersion but every other party having a pink Rhino with butterfly wings doesn't?

You quit because off the costumes? not because of the fact that 90% of end game gameplay is locked behind a paywall? or because the community is extremely toxic? or because eso plus keeps raising on price making it more pricy to farm the end game items you need for people to even accept you into their party?

I had quite the opposite reaction

You know what Warframe did last time there was a holiday event? A snowball fight with giant candy canes. It was even more goofy than Dog Days. It was so goofy that DE had to bring it back as Quick Steel, with snowballs replaced with Hikou and the candy canes replaced with Nikanas

Dog Days at least goes through the effort of explaining how all the goofiness happened. Kela was trying to think of new Rathuum modifiers and noticed that Harkonar's new line of Soaktrons could be filled with acid for loud and funny executions. Then there was a gas leak and all the Soaktrons got filled with harmless water. Then the Tenno and Executioners decided, why waste the trip? It's a nice day day out on the Plains of Eidolon, and had their regularly scheduled Rathuum battle (that they were going to have anyway to decide the fate of some prisoners of war) and Kela is too intoxicated to care. And the beachballs appear to be either arts and crafts made by Nakak (like her Thumper floofs), or a rare example of Grineer leisure toys
