Can we get Modable Grenades?

As soon as the exploiter came out and we played arround with those thermia canisters i thought to my self "wouldnt it be cool if warframe has granades" I mean it would kinda just be a new weapon class that has it's own slot (which probably is a lot of weight on the database). But aside from the basic damage-, crit-, and statusmods imagine being able to mod the radius and sticky-/slidy-ness. And while this would have room for realy creative new "weapons" and mechanics, how about making the whole thing modular! Who wouldnt like that?!

What we need is for all "thrown" secondary weapons (except the staticor) to be throwable using "altfire" on any weapon not having intrinsic altfire. That is, Tiberon prime has alt fire that selects fire modes, there for you couldn't use it here. The rubico only has alt fire when zoomed, so as long as you are not zoomed, pressing the alt fire should cast a thrown secondary weapon with reduced fire rate. Dread, as a bow, has no alt fire at all, so pressing the alt fire should cast an equipped thrown seconady.

So. If you have a Kunai equipped, pressing altfire when you have dread equipped would throw a kunai instead of triggering an alt fire mode. Or if you have talons equipped, you would throw a talon, and because this is thrown from alt fire instead of as your primary fire mode, the talon would explode on impact or else if you miss the target it will detonate when a target enters it's area of effect like a trip laser mine. This addresses the overwhelming weakness of most thrown weapons in the game as it stands, by making them a support weapon you can cast without having to switch to it, rather than treating them as "primary methods of engagement". Basically under this mechanic, the idea of thrown weapons would be that you only equip them in the active slot under very specific circumstances, say talons when you need to load down a target with explosives and detonate them all at once. but otherwise you would mostly play the game with your primary rifle equipped using the "alt fire" thrown weapon when needed, say, needing an explosive talon to quickly issue blast damage and knock down a charging group of enemies...

I've been suggesting this as a fix to the fact thrown weapons are mostly under-performing for ages. Need to inflict shock or knock down to a group of enemies charging at you because they aren't going down fast enough for your rifle to handle? throw a talon or castana, run out of enemies before you run out of bullets? throw your kunai in their eye. Armored target but your weapon isn't corrosive? A pox on both their houses. And since it only works on weapons that don't already have altfire it means you can augment some other poorly performing weapons.

Any reasoning? They also said Ephemeras would be earnable only... and we all know what's in the current prime access.

Prime access has also proven in the past that It’ll put just about anything as an accessory. Also the first Ephemeras were called Prestige items not “Earnable only”. You’re also comparing an old quote to the existence of an item that DE clearly is enjoying making and putting out. Unlike Grenades that haven’t existed for 6+ years.

Would love to see grenades.

The basic mechanics are already there as you pointed out. And we have grenade launchers as primary or secondary. I think a "secondary weapon grenade" would only require a new animation but other than that it could basically be a single shot Kulstar with long reload.

I would totally sacrifice my secondary for a grenade and melee & grenade throw my way through enemy hordes.
