Do people use certain warframes for specific mission types ?

Still using my excal (starchart almost done). But wondering if people keep specific warframes aside for certain mission types ?

Are there some like me who just use the one for most things (defense is too difficult solo for me - really should start using a frost etc)

Looting - hydroid, nekros, khora?

BigBosses - chroma ?

Defense - frost, gara, limbo ?

Yeah. Generally my line up is:

Limbo for grineer/Infested def

Ash for Spy

Volt for capture

Slova for interception

Trin for Defect/Hijack

Ember quick low lvl exterminates

Looting I just buy a resource boost

Mesa for everything else

It also depends on what my squad brings. If it no matter I always fall back to my fave.

I use Ash for almost everything.

Frost for most defenses just in case I have to solo it, or so I don't have to rely on some random stranger to defend the spot.

And sometimes FastNova or Nekros to farm resources.

Rhino for Index. 

Inaros for Profit-Taker

But Ash is my choice 99% of the time.

Generally i use ivara for spy, eidolon, (some) assassinations, interception, survival and sometime i use inaros for exterminate. For index i use normally rhino but i can do the same with Ivara. Limbo for defensive missions but rarely i use him(generally for rivens). Chroma for profit taker but i ' m trying to use ivara even for that if they fix the stupid larkspur bug.

I use Nekros for survival, looting and profit taker and Volt for everything else.

Normally do, but lately have been trying to get as much focus for a tree to unbound a passive so outside of Hijack and Spy just take frame kitted with the best lens.

Have changed though from missions where I want to focus on not dieing bringing Baruuk over Inaros if I'm playing with people. Since Desolate hands can be given to team-mates to also give them reduction.

Although for exterminate I use Hildryn over Ember since her 3 has higher range and anything under say 30 that isn't a heavy unit will die just as fast to it. Added bonus magnetic procs don't prevent me from using my nuke at all and only for infested do I ever had to turn it off occasionally.

Generally I choose frames based on their effectiveness for the specific mission type. There are times where I’ll solo things using suboptimal setups or equipment just for kicks though.

I used to keep specific frames for specific things, but not anymore. I realized I can complete and thrive in every mission type using most frames with little exception, so before going into a mission I'll just guage how energetic I'm feeling. If I'm feeling lazy I'll bring the frame that works best and allows me to zero-brain things, if I feel like being active I'll run something that requires me to think at least slightly.

I just use whatever I want when I'm playing, don't really need a specific frame for any sort of mission these days.

Yes, most players do use several different frames for different types of missions. Some missions require 2-4 different frames with different setups for best efficiency. 

For me:

Spy: Ivara or Loki

Interception: Nova 

Survival, Inaros, Excal Umbra, and few other tanky frames. 

Capture: Volt

Exterminate: Any fast frames.

 

The choices are also highly person and mist frames can do more than one mission types well. Just pick whatever is the most fun for you att.

Yep, IMHO is you aren't using the majority of the Warframes you are missing out. Warframes are gear, always bring the right gear for the mission.

• Index: Limbo
• Rathuum: Loki
• Plague Star: Octavia

And probably others I've forgotten. The only warframe that I don't use is Ash.

Some people do use specific frames for mission types.  Some deliberately use the "wrong" frame, even solo, just as a change of pace.

I normally play solo.  Pretty much the only time I'll use a specific Warframe and only that one is Ivara with the Prowl augment for Spy missions.  General stealth in this game feels kind of broken (in the sense it mostly doesn't work.)  And I find the Spy vaults to be neither interesting or compelling.  But sometimes I need to finish a Spy mission for some reason.  (Such as Nightwave, or to solo part of a Sortie so that random people who care even less about Spy than I do don't trip the alarms and screw it up.)  So for those, I use Ivara to negate the part I don't enjoy, and spend fifteen or twenty minutes patiently sneaking through and shanking anything that moves with my Heat Knife.

Of course. Depends completely on what level the mission is and type of enemies to bother with specific frames though. These are the ones I switch between regularly. 

Nyx - For anything but defense and Excavation.
Valkyr - Survivals, Assassinations, melee fun only. 
Nova - Interception, Rescue, Defection, Defense (fast).
Rhino - Survivals, Assassinations, open worlds, Index.
Frost - Defense, Mobile Defense, Excavation.
Nekros - Kuva Survival, anything involving farming resources.
Loki - Spy, Derelict Vaults, Floof hunting.
Oberon - Sortie type of defense, Interception, anything that require healing people.
Chroma - Big bosses.
Limbo - Syndicate missions with medallions.
Saryn - Sanctuary Onslaught focus farming.

I use anything for anything.  Sometimes I find out a combination that doesn’t work well.

The only time I’m specific is eidolon hunts.  I use volt because I don’t have another build for them yet.

Yeah, I switch all the time. Frames I use regularly:

Titania: bounties, bosses, capture, exterminate, interception. Mobility and massive damage combined, and you always have the high ground.
Limbo: trivialises infested and Grineer mobile defence and excavation.
Zephyr: makes Corpus mobile defence easy while being less sensitive to nullifiers than Limbo.
Saryn: ESO, defence, exterminate, interception; she is just great at killing endless hordes and Molt can be used to defend a little.
Rhino: defence, disruption, bosses, I use a buff build make everyone better. I also use him in Index to carry.
Volt: eidolons, and spamming capture fissures.
Trinity: eidolons, ESO.
Inaros: hijack, bosses, orbs, and sorties with the nasty negatives.
Ivara: spy, rescue.

I will sometimes make a point of doing each sortie mission with a different frame.
