Question

reinstalled windows, still have the 30some gigabytes of files installed on drive D, run warframe setup, tell it to install to D:\games where it is already installed

setup starts downloading 0% of 21gb why ? why can't this installer save me hours of downloading and save warframe gigabytes of bandwidth and just see the files are already installed ?

is there some workaround to avoid going through the whole process of redownloading everything ?

thanks

Probably because you're using Steam and the unfortunate thing there is that Steam has outdated files. So when Steam goes to check/validate the files in the directory where Warframe is installed the hashes don't match. So it assumes that the files you have are corrupt or out of date, so it starts downloading the "correct/good" files that it has. Which unfortunately in point of fact are the out of date files.

Essentially Steam validates the files, they don't match, Steam downgrades the files so they match and then the Launcher is going to update all the files Steam just downgraded when you go to run the game.

For whatever Reason DE doesn't update the files Steam has very often which is a bit confusing to me but I'm sure there is probably some reason for it.
