I would like to know how many of you actually like this game.

I enjoy this game. I enjoy the huge amount of customization avenues at our fingertips. I enjoy the power fantasy it offers. I enjoy messing around with all the different types of weapons, frames, and pets available and figuring out combos and strategies. I enjoy playing around with mod combos to find weird/crazy combos and trying them out in different situations and builds. I enjoy pushing my limits with the tools I am given and have acquired through my time playing. I enjoy the communities I am a part of because of this game. I enjoy the company of the friends I have met through this game. I enjoy helping others figure out the nuances of this game.

That said...

I do get burnt out, and have taken long breaks before and went and played other games. But I always end up coming back. Why? Because I enjoy this game.

EDIT: Want to add that it was said before a few times, but you do see more people in the forums with complaints then praises. Nature of the beast. Content players are in game, playing, instead of here, complaining. I take time out some days, like now, to browse the forums and offer wisdom and tips, just because.

Because from reading this forum, I would think everyone hates it. The number of threads complaining about (literally anything) seem to outnumber the threads about anything positive by a lot.

And no, I'm not complaining about the complaint meta, I'm asking if people actually like this game or if this whole sub forum thinks it's bad and needs to be a different game with warframe assets tacked on.

The vocal people visiting forums are probably people who played the game for longer. And with time you'll just come to hate burn out on Warframe, seeing only its flaws. Whether or not the criticism is justified I will leave to you to find out.

It doesn't help that negative emotions have more impact than positive emotions. So as previously stated people are more likely to post about issues they have with the game, than praise for the game. "Forums are the primary point of contact with DE after all, maybe something will change if I complain here?"

On a personal note: "Thank you DE" threads always feel like they never acknowledge the flaws the game has and thus I can't take them seriously. Maybe that's because those threads are almost always made by people only 500 hours in. Game reviewers seem to do the same thing, Shill Up being a prime example. The latest GameSpot review did it quite well, though.

Games like Warframe need to strike a good balance between grind and gameplay. And more recently, Warframe has been swinging too heavily in the grind direction. I really enjoy the gameplay of Warframe. The weapon variety, the Warframe powers, the mobility, etc. But the massive amounts of tedious grinding that have been piling up on top of that has been making it much harder to enjoy the good parts.

On top of that, there are way too many things that have either never been finished, or were once small issues that have been ignored for too long, and have now become major problems.

It feels like trying to find gold in a pile of crap, and DE keeps dumping more crap on top. I still love the good parts, but its getting less and less worth it to dig through all the crap to get to them. And when I complain about something, I do so in hopes of removing some of the crap, so the good parts are still worth getting to.

De does deserve a certain level of praise for making the game succeed where most thought it would fail.

/applause for de.

But that doesn't mean wf or anything is flawless.  As time goes on we will get more stuff. We can point out faults in anything.  Especially as time goes on and we take time to dig deep.

Honestly, you have to be weird, lonely or useless to come to a game forum and hate the game. It's about 95% love here.

That aside, I do agree with some commebts that describe the differences between constructive criticism, general complaints and the lazy people. I think the lazy complainers are the worst though, asking questions without reading the already given information. You learned how to read and comprehend only to choose to not read and comprehend?

I imagine most wouldn't be here if they felt otherwise, it takes effort to show up, and that effort implies some level of care. The forums may be full of critiques, but that's because people care about the direction the game is going, and want to help it become the best version of itself they can see, sometimes the sentiments may be misguided, sometimes not, but it's not all out of malice, and it's most definitely not out of indifference.

I like and hate warframe at the same time. DE reminds me of a lot of devs who make incredibly janky games (Earth defense force, E.Y.E. divine cubermancy, elex, etc.) where they have moments of brilliance but between that is a million moments of "what were you thinking?". There really is more to conplain about than there is to praise even if the things to enjoy outweigh what doesnt.

As a result ive just come to the understanding that over the years, just stop caring. Do what you find fun because when DE adds something thats good and fun its actually really enjoyable. If something isnt so good, tolerate it a bit and move on. The moment fun stops, just stop as well.

Ill give criticism of what I dislike, but im the end I dont really care about it at that point.

Warframe is weird because its an awful lot like those eurojank games, but is also mainstream and free so the general populace is all over it while not being as overall accepting some of the kaveats that seem to come with many of these developers with a hugely inspired vision. Even if warframes shortcomings are a little less endearing than EYE or EDF.

To be frank, i find the meta incredibly boring and i'm skeptical about the devs's direction about the future of the game (though it usually sounds good on paper) and frame reworks.

Wouldn't say i hate it, just don't find it the best game ever some people here on the forums make it out to be.

(1)

You can generally assume that the kind of players that have taken the time to sign up on the forums, read posts and comment on them, are the kind of players that have taken some amount of time playing the game.

If you have been playing a game for a while, you start to notice its negative sides and the detailed flaws that you never noticed at the beginning. In other words, all the positives of the game become ‘normal’ for you while the negatives become visible to you.

So naturally, you have experienced players who will (or more like capable of) criticizing the game.

(2)

Furthermore, people who actually hate a game usually just leave. They don’t hope the game will improve. Those who criticize the game are generally people who want to continue playing the game (because they like the game), but also want the game to improve because there are things that they don’t like about the game.

(3)

Finally, things are generally not that black and white. You might hate one or two aspect of a person, but you might still like the person (i.e. your family members) Similarly, you might not like one or two aspect of a game, but you might still like the game.

People mostly come to game forums to complain. That's how it is with almost every game. It's negativity bias.

I love WF. It's very well made on most aspects. I also deeply appreciate the developer's commitment to keep improving the game year by year. New movement systems, new frames, new tilesets, new open worlds, they do such a huge amount of work for this game! Game development is not easy nor fast and yet they pump out content at a very respectable rate.

I've played for 5-6 years now, starting soon after the open beta launched, and I still come to visit the game a few times a year. I might not have a lot of hours (maybe just 500 hours over 5-6 years) and I'm still a meager MR 14, but yeah I like the game. It has its issues and some of them stop me from playing for very long at a time (for example, non-existing balance) but the net outcome of the whole thing is largely positive.

I still love this game after 6 years  but I allso play othere games so its not a full time game anymore. Just a few mission a day to work on events and nightwaves while waiting for railjack.

But I still haven't found any f2p game that near as good as warframe when it come to fun game play for free and fair in its store prices. The 1 thing would be a full prime access pack  price feel abit heavy but as you can farm it in game I don't really care.

Google “Vocal Minority” and how it affects perception.

well, I still like it. I think as with anything, people are more likely to point out the bad than they are the good, because bad things leave an impression on us for longer than good things do. it's just how our brains work.

for example, while I was glad to see Bethesda release the old DOOM games for current gen, I was more annoyed because it has DRM and requires a Bethesda.net login (to play a game that is 25 years old. older than I am.) , and now when I think about DOOM, I think of that inconvenience. it will pass, but for now, the bad is obscuring the good. and that's the case with a lot of things.

I enjoy Warframe, but there isn't a single developer of any entertainment media who hasn't made some sort of boneheaded decision from time to time. The recent event for example is fun for the first 2-4 runs, but devolves into a one-note soulless grind very quickly.

My enjoyment of the game is present, though I am currently on a break from it right now as I am waiting for Empyrean to come out, as I have outright nothing left that I currently want to accomplish.

You can like something and still dislike aspects of it, which is something more people should remember more often than they do.

I really enjoy playing Warframe, that's why I'm still playing it.

You've got to understand though that only a tiny percentage of the player base post on the forums and of those a lot of them do so only to *@##$ and moan about things. So while it may seem from the forums that everyone hates everything, actually the vast majority of players are happy, they just choose to not post here because any attempt to say anything positive is buried under a mountain of vitriol from the forum regulars.

I'm confused TC, do you think DE gets everything right the first time, f2p is exempt from criticism, or do you just not like how some choose to voice their concerns?

If Dog Days received no criticism do you think DE would have changed the scoring with a hotfix for PC anyway? I'd like to think so, but I also don't understand why it wasn't this way from the start, etc.
