Cinderain Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) False , mastery level is the Tenno level , the mastery don't chage when you change suit. your name don't change when you change suit , you can "craft" a suit or destroy it , not create a tenno or kill him/her. You are a Tenno , always the same , even if you change a weapons , or if you change a suit. I think you're usually supposed to keep gameplay mechanics and lore/canon/story separated from each other some times. Like reloading saves or respawning. Edited September 24, 2013 by FatalX7
Soulie Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) I'm pretty sure the Tenno are descendants of humans and Warframes are exo suits they wear. So the Nova warframe is made for a Tenno female. That's why you call it a "she". Edited September 24, 2013 by Soulie
GSGregory Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 People refer to cars as he, she or it quite often so whats the deal here?
Arlayn Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 A warframe is a suit , so we must say "she" for nova ? or other feminine frame ? and when we speak about a male like Frost or Rhino , must says "he" or "it" ? remember , a warframe isn't alive , only the Tenno inside is. at the moment i've see only 1 Tenno without (?) warframe , in the cryopod , and it look male , female Tenno exist ? Or maybe only female Tenno can wear Saryn and Nova , and only male can Frost or Vauban ? too much questions , any answer ? (sorry for my english) That is not a tenno in the cryopod that is naked nick he is a placeholder...

DrPandisimo Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 "The Sentients had won. They had turned our weapons, our technology, against us. The more advanced we became, the greater or losses. The war was over unless we found a new way. In our desperation we turned to the Void. The blinding night, the hellspace where our science and reason failed. We took the twisted few that had returned from that place. We built a frame around them, a condiut of their affliction. Gave them the weapons of the old ways. Gun and blade. A new warrior, a new code was born. These rejects, these Tenno, became our saviors. Warrior-Gods cast in steel and fury striking our enemies in a way they could never comprehend. Excalibur was the first." -Orokin 'Warframe' Archives. This leads me to believe that the Tenno/Warframes are similar to say, a Dreadnought or Alcatraz/Prophet. They could be female or male (the suit is built around them not created and then worn when necessary), and as someone said - they do not change suits, maybe they cannot even leave them, seen as I assume the void broke them.

This is similar to how I interpreted it as well. The users are placed in the suit, not the suit being built for the user. My take on it is that the Tenno Warframes are mostly robotic*, and therefore the sentience (brain?) of the Tenno is placed in the Warframe and controls it (whether or not it is physical placed, or controls it remotely is up for debate to me). Regardless of whether the original Tenno was male or female, they control the Warframe regardless of its designed perception of gender. The Warframe's design is likely an homage to the creator, with he/she creating a suit that represented their self or their vision. Like an artist drawing a painting. So while the aesthetics of the suit may point to a gender, that is just the design of the "armor" so to speak. I am a woman, but if I put on male clothes that doesn't suddenly make me a man, right?. I know that is a little random, but that example made sense to me. *Regarding the robotic comment. Anyone else noticed how when Alad V dismembered the Excalibur in the video, that he didn't have anything resembling bones/organs inside of him? This is what leads me to believe they are robotic (or at least some kind of cyborg in nature). Which is what I base my theory off of. Edited December 3, 2013 by Seras

Eeeeerm, we know they are flesh underneath, I think in the trailer it was just an oversight (why would he have an emtpy frame and then one with something in it) - HOWEVER, they may not be robotic, but they are most probably cybernetic if ma theory is on the right lines :3
BloodArmoredApostle Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 well, id like to think my warframe is a she... example.... What was your reaction when you found out Samus was a female? WTF!!! Thats awesome! (So I try to keep it simple for myself) PS...really wish my gurl was like Samus/Warframe...cant get better than that
Arkezuli Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) - Snip - But if each frame is a separate tenno, then who am i? :< When you have an alt in other games who are you there ? - Snip - Whats the point of this thread? DE said that frames are male and female type. This is like asking "Is water wet?". But is it...? ...Is it really?!? - Snip - I mean, there is no one skinny enough to fit in Nekros' Warframe. You need to go out more... No humanoid is as idiotic as those Tenno we're rescuing are - Snip - So... What planet do you live in again? I'd like to spend some vacation there. GaleRoar Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Let me simplify things here. If you look at the Arid Fear Victory entry, you'll see Vor mentions ripping the Tenno corpse out of a metal womb, also known as a Warframe. But, there is no indicator of how to control a Warframe and Vor wonders if it is remotely controlled in some way, but we know there is indeed a Tenno corpse inside when they die. This is where you, the player, come in. Also, DE confirmed each frame is a different character and it is assumed Warframes are just classes of armor. Each Tenno is specific but not each Warframe. ThePresident777 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Maybe some of the tenno are cross dressers.
RedDirtTrooper Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Each warframe has a different Tenno inside, changing warframes is changing the character you are playing as. The end.
Mastikator2 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Maybe some of the tenno are cross dressers. LGBTframe?
Mystokai Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Tenno are ninjas in tight latex suits (aka warframes), that pretty much sums up everything. Edited December 3, 2013 by AivenPrimus
arch111 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The chaotic void powers twisted the humans, creating a new being Tenno. Each was now super charged with void energy, pulsing like blood in their veins. In the void they became as Gods. Back in normal space their bodies failed them, now monsters scarred and dangerous. Now creatures of the void, their bodies could alter their shape to allow the void currents to interface with the Warframes. The Orokin masters forged the freaks into weapons, hiding their true nature. Temples were built, the Tenno renamed them Dojos.
RedDirtTrooper Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Nope, they're people, horribly scarred from exposure to the raw void, and they're in suits, built to specification for their deformity/mutation. When you change warframes you are playing with a different character. Deal with it. They're not ninja ghost souls. They don't shape shift from male to female. They just, plain and simply, aren't the same person. Your account does not constitute a single Tenno. It is not one individual using multiple warframes, as they are built around the person inside them. Unless you are talking about the player, and in the context of the game universe the player doesn't exist. You choose from a stable of different characters, all of them different Tenno, wrapped in their own exo-armor suits.
(PSN)Whitewinged7 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 My favorite part was when everyone was discussing what makes a female a female. Specifically something was mentioned about breasts being something women have (awesome just awesome to read) There was even a tranny reference in there somewhere This is gold please continue whoever said give me my time back are you crazy this is entertainment lol
Salfos Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The warframe classes are separate characters in separate suits. DE says lots of stuff in their live streams. They were gonna do each suit male/female but scrapped it, due to i believe that trying to kept the same look was hard. Frost is male and is frost. In the future there may be a female warframe suit that uses ice-based abilities. There is more than one Excalibur, look at recent trailer an Excalibur is killed. does it mean he is dead or is just pendragon excalibur dead? since people can have similar skills and abilities, duplicate warframes can arrive as mods can come in a different specialized version of the frame (tanky excal, fast excal, etc.). also in Jackal text Lotus says they lose many cells, if only 15 exist how can they lose many cells?
arch111 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Lotus tells us we will master and build them all in time. Not find Tenno, but Warframes. And new Lore tells us tenno are broken, no longer human. Orokin used forma for shape shifting.
FlyDungas Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The suits have $* and sweet &#! so it's a she A suit that have male looking like rhino frost vuban it's a he Rly easy Excalibur was also the undisputed winner of Battle of the Bulge 2012
RedDirtTrooper Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I sure hope you are wrong, and they stick to their last official answer from the live streams, which is that every warframe is a separate Tenno. The idea of some shape shifting Tenno slug, or ghost in the shell rip off is incredibly distasteful to me. Anyway, keep speculating, I'm sticking with the answer they gave last time unless they explicitly change it.
Ventura_Highway Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The suits have $* and sweet &#! so it's a she A suit that have male looking like rhino frost vuban it's a he Rly easy Don't forget Rhino's codpiece.
DeejayPwny Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Not a descendant of humans, but yes another race of humans, I think Can't find the source for the life of me, but I recall hearing that corpus, grineer, and Tenno are all post humans recreated by the Orokin. Of course, culture splits and fates and all that, but they are the same base basic species if that's true.
