Dread vs Paris Prime (vs others)

Question

Posted

I'm not really a bow user. I use it to unlock riven or sortie only. Currently using Paris Prime. Some youtubers (i.e. Tactical Potato) seem to like Dread. What do you guys think? Is it really better than Paris (or other bows)?

Thanks.

The Dread has slightly more critical hit chance only.
But the most important thing is the slash-based-attack. Slash is extremely strong against lightly-armored targets and normally in end-game people tend to use "Corrosive Projection" aura to remove armor entirely. Then the Dread vastly outclasses the Paris Prime.

Maybe for the upfront damage but the slash proc is good against everything as it is unaffected by shields or armor and so deals true damage, which is why it is the best status proc.

The Dread is better than the Paris Prime as it does heaps of slash damage, has decent status chance meaning lots of slash procs, has high crit chance, meaning you can add Hunter muntitions for even more slash procs. It normally one shots everything (as long as you wait for the DoT procs).

You would Primarly use The Dread Because its more likely to perform consistently.

Paris Prime is pretty damn strong but will screw you over when it comes to proccing Status Effects...

Dread = 5% higher CC, slash based.

PP = Puncture-based, 60 higher base damage.

Paris imo is better against low-levels (up to maybe sortie 1-2?) where you can't one-shot armoured targets anymore, since puncture has a dmg bonus against armour, and higher base damage. It has the advantage in raw base damage, but the Dread has much higher damage potential albeit higher TTK due to slash.

Both can use Hunter momo just fine tho - 45% and 50% base crit = 112.5% and 125% crit, meaning constant 30% chance for slash, however the Dread is much more consistent due to that 90% slash.

If you're talking about amount of damage then my answer is neither.

Instead check out the Daikyu. Using the specialized mods for it you have something that is a beast even before you drop forma's in it.

The only drawback, no pun intended, is that it's slow. In other words a nice replacement of a sniper rifle not an assault rilfe like the Dread or Paris are.

Rakta cernos is better than either (not comparing with Lenz cause the ram-bow is less bow and more grenade launcher)

Paris p with a suitable riven can out damage the Dread, but it's base high puncture, terrible sound on draw and slightly low CC would perform poorly on mid to high levels.

Dreads high slash as base damage is good only if the enemy is unarmored, it's the bleeds that is the reason it tends to perform well.

Yeah? And where does the bleed come mate, if not from slash? Its like saying its not the oxygen that ruins iron, but the rust... Get your logic together please :))

Please quote correctly, was confused for a Second as I didn't write the first paragraph you quoted.

Bleed can come from more than just the innate slash weightage of IPS of the weapon, using hunter munitions is another possibility.

And clearly you did not understand what I was trying to say.

Let us first look at the difference between slash damage and bleed status. Slash is weak against armor and strong against flesh, bleed ignores armor and only damages health also called true damage.

If you hit an armored enemy with a Dread arrow and not proc slash you will have done less damage than Paris prime on that shot as Paris has mostly puncture which will have some bonus damage depending on armor type.

However if the Dread does proc bleed (and it does proc rather often) it will do more damage over time due to the bleed tics.

If Paris prime takes advantage of hunters munitions it will probably still stay slightly lower than Dread but the difference will be minor against armored enemies.

If all armor is removed then slash does bonus damage against flesh and so Dread wins out by a bigger margin.

Hence my very first sentence about rakta cernos being better, it has the innate syndicate proc to give everything viral status, and has a faster charge rate, you can use its rapid charge shots to shoot them with hunter munitions fueled arrows.

Hope that has better explained what I was trying to say.

Also rust occurs when both oxygen and moisture is present, iron in an environment devoid of moisture is unlikely to rust.

Maybe actually use a correct example next time you want to challenge any logic.
