Semi-Auto to Auto Mod

I understand the desire to have some semi-auto weapons in a complete weapons profile for this game.    However, going through my list of what weapons I use and what weapons I don't....it becomes very obvious which weapons I focus on.    I used a few simple apps and it became quite obvious...the amount of actions per minute on my right hand went up over 800% when moving to semi auto with nearly all of it being on my pointer finger.  I also realized after a few weeks that this is exactly when my finger would starting physically hurting.   On a controller I never noticed this because I was pulling with my entire finger and "stop" was less aggressive.  On a mouse....the constant hard hit of a mouse click does eventually rear its ugly head.   As I become older, worrying about which weapons can cause injury to my body is actually of concern.   In that regards...semi auto (or burst) weapons simply do not get used.   I do some like of the semi auto and burst weapons but must be set aside.

With the current power scaling, I would be more than willing to sacrifice a mod slot to convert a semi auto weapon to full auto.    I would have no issue with this mod also being a high capacity mod limiting @ ~88% of max fire rate.  Example below is an idea for 2 variants.

Mod 1

Rank 0:  10% full auto rate, 2 capacity

Rank 4:  40% full auto rate, 10 capacity

Mod 2

Rank 0: 8% full auto rate, 6 capacity

Rank 10: 88% full auto rate, 16 capacity

For the people that are meta chaser..they most likely will not use it.  But for casual player, it might just breath some life into lesser used options.

I'd suggest you use a macro / mod controller.

Problem with introducing an in-game mod that does this is it creates a conflict of interest with existing macro use.

DE has previously said that semi->auto macro use is OK.

Creating a mod that achieves the same effect but sacrifices a mod slot implies that the QoL change is a relevant factor in DPS Balance.

And if that is the case, that it is a Balance Check; then external macro use to bypass that check can be seen as an exploit. So, conflicts with current macro policy.

?maybe no one would care? but the way players argue I can definitely see potential controversy

Any Rate. DE really should just go Overwatch and have all weapons use an auto trigger. -if you want to fire a single shot Cowboy, just let go of the trigger before the next shot activates.

DE should make it a toggle option in the Gameplay Settings tab. "Force automatic fire on all non-charge weapons." There, you no longer need to play around with third party macros to get automatic fire, increasing accessibility, there's no need to take up a special mod slot for automatic fire, and things work out pretty well for everyone.

Then there's really no excuse to not have it be a feature in-game, like what @MJ12 suggested.

There's a bunch of Semi-Auto weapons that have Fire Rates (especially Secondaries after Lethal Torrent)
that are actually impossible to reach for the average ugly bag of mostly water (if at all) without a macro, and that's just silly.

DE is lazy and doesn't want to build features that players can work around externally ?isn't an excuse? seems like they use that in lots of places already and it flies.

Anyway

note: that weapons with a 'semi' trigger, have their fire rate capped at 10/s Max regardless of what the UI displays after stacking up mods.

this is intended to avoid the impossible fire rate issue so things stay 'fair' for macro vs non-macro users. (tho I think even 10fps is kinda pushing limits)
