Relic crack effect stuck on weapon.

Recently I did a defense fissure, and got a relic effect on my melee weapon after cracking it. The visual effect, but not the buff, stayed on my weapon for the rest of the mission, and every time I attacked it would shoot lightning effects across the map back to the location where I cracked the relic. This kept happening even after another relic was cracked. The lightning did not do any damage, and no one mentioned that they could see it (I didn't ask). The weapon is a zaw dagger using the Balla strike.
