Question

So since coming back to Warframe I've been experience what I believe are memory leaks. Every time I go to Venus and back to Fortuna my computer gets gradually slower and slower to the point where it gets frustrating. I'm not sure what's causing this but before I quit a year or so ago this never happened. Do you guys know if there's something I can turn off to fix this?

you can lower the graphics from high to medium, among other things. optimizing the download cache may help as well. oh and make sure there's no backround programs running on your comp. it may be lagging due to the RAM being used up by other programs. i recently had that problem.

Nah. There is an actual memory leak in the game. As example stay 20 hours in Fortuna and you'll heavily notice the difference, that something is wrong and it's not because of the own hardware, it's the game itself behaving weird and becoming more laggy. Same case in really long runs unfortunately as well but because this is Fortuna in this example it is even more weird in my opinion.

does it also happen when you play solo ?

when it happens which other frames are involved ?

is it happening in Index ? what about when there is a Wukong Clone in the squad ?

im on certain traces of which none has lead to something substantial,.. we need more sample sizes  when , how and where ...

but the problem is certainly with the game and not on your end , that I can tell you for sure..

It happens both solo and in squads, but more so in squad.

I'm glad it's not on my end because I've been looking at upgrades for my computer to fix it but I'm poor so not the best idea.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. I can access the Orb Vallis from the star chart, but if I try to get into it from Fortuna, well, I don't do that anymore since the game softlocks and it becomes hard to even kill Warframe's process in Task Manager. The elevator loading sequence is particularly bad in case of Profit-Taker where I've had more memleak-caused crashes and softlocks than successful loads, and even then at the cost of loading times which left me with like 7% dmg participation (4x7%=28% so basically I got into the fight after over 2/3rds (72%) of it have passed).

It's just going in and out of Cetus and Orb Vallis and ever time it gets worse and worse. Not doing much else, sometimes just mining or something mundane like that.

I have the same issue as well, more with Orb Vallis. Cetus usually runs just fine with just a little bit of lag spikes on loading in and out of the world, but Orb Vallis is hit or miss. Some days, I can do a few missions there just fine, but other's the game will slow to a crawl and cap out my CPU until I close out of warframe and wait a few minutes for it to fully close out. Even on the few times where it does work fine I can feel it slowing down my my pc more and more and more until I exit out of warframe.

It is definitely a memory leak issue, one that as been there for a while (Ive had this issue hit or miss sense Fortuna's launch no matter what I run it on, laptop, gaming pc, doesn't matter.) It feels like some inconsistent fringe case as to not have already been fixed, sense they mostly seem to have fixed it for Cetus. IDK, Id go the rout of submitting a bug report, maybe they just don't know its an issue?

I only have this issue specifically in fortuna.... I remember doin the profit taker 11 Times back to back...  and eventually the game just crashed while I was going down the elevator and didn't get anything from my last run..

just as in your case, the cetus/PoE transition is problemless, but i literally can not access the OV from fortuna. the reverse is possible because fortuna is less RAM-intense, but it seems that i either don't have enough RAM for a fortuna>OV segue, or that the memory leak is related specifically to the F→OV transition-direction. if there was a biz-phone for the spiders the same way you have for regular bounties, i'd have no problem, but i do have a problem because it's simply risky to go into OV from F instead of from the star chart.

I haven't ran into this issue but i have 32 gigs of memory and when i check usage sometimes it climes up to 10-11 gigs of memory so i use a program called memclean now its old and im not plugging it or linking it but it usually cleans my memory usage back under 7 gigs. Just my 2 cents. If it is a memory leak the client is a 64bit exe so it can access more ram than 8 gigs if you have it one of my clan memebers frequently crashs do to only having 8 gigs of ram.

Tbh I noticed having issues specifically with OV map, esp. after playing for a while on different tilesets beforehand.
It doesn't matter if I go to Fortuna first or not, the loading never finishes and gets stuck at about 70%. If someone is with me at the time, they get lost connection to host error after a while. When I restart the game and go to OV again, I can finally get into it, but UI elements and avatars in my friends list take a while to load in.

Considering that I have a high-end HDD (not a fan of SSDs), very decent motherboard, 16GB RAM and i7 I'm quite sure it's not my PC being too slow. I can run ArmA 3 or GTAV/Online perfectly fine.

Oh, and another thing. If I happen to run any heavy software (a different game or Photoshop) after WF, esp. after being on OV, the performance is quite noticeably worse. Only reboot helps in that case.

...and a reminder that Fortuna+OV had none of these problems before the first hotfix after their release.

You know, it's very strange actually. At some point after the Fortuna update I could get in and out OV quite fine without too many problems. Either that or they didn't stick out enough to give me concerns. However, I feel like things has taken a turn for the worse recently-ish. Like, it was borked at the start, then kinda improved and then borked again somewhere down the line. No idea when or where tho.

probably the pre-release crunch to release fortuna on the PoE anniversary overlaid with the PoE remaster work, followed by shoddily-optimised spider-tank bosses.

I don't want Railjack, I want F/OV fixed first. Please, DE, just... fix F/OV. Do that first.

Fix Cetus and PoE as well because I'm definitely getting the same issues there.

Now that you brought it to attention, I'm noticing it there too. Old Cetus was a mess, this one somewhat less, but this problem still persists because the game simply isn't compatible with what I assume is a non-tile-based map.

Same problem, only can fix restarting the game.

Not even then. I'm having problems even after I close the game and try running something else. The only way to deal with a memory leak that continues post-end-of-process is to restart the computer, which is what I had to do when I wanted to play Bioshock: Burial at Sea. Further noting that Burial at Sea is glitzier and more processor-intensive than PoE's dysfunctional puppet theatre, and yet has shown not one hiccup, let alone a problem that makes you restart your computer just to flush the free-roam data-turdberg from my RAM.
