New Loka Death Squads are STILL way too damage sponge-y

Recommended Posts

Yup, this thread again. Because after getting hit by 3 squads in a row, I need to vent. I've gone in to Hydron with Sortie worthy gear to help my friends grind and I've struggled to put a dent the New Loka's Ancient Healer Eximera while other Death Squads I've squashed under identical circumstances without noticing. Personally, I think the latter is fine because I'm going in to a level 30-40 area with gear meant for level 100+ enemies. The former though is just tooth grinding. The simple issue is that unlike other enemy types that got converted to Death Squads, Ancient Healers (especially Eximus ones) are supposed to be elite enemies that spawn in low numbers to support more numerous enemies and are not balanced around being deployed in large numbers. This is only exacerbated by the fact that HP Leech and Energy Leech are some of the worst Eximera to face due to their ability to heal by hurting you and their ability to smother your Power use respectively, and are very common among Ancient Healer Eximera due to limited Infested Eximus types. Currently, the only solutions I see that don't involve DE nerfing them are to either abort the mission whenever they spawn or just accept that there will be several minutes of tedium before we get back to actually playing the game. My strongest loadouts don't make things go much faster so "use X frame and/or Y weapon with Z mods" doesn't really help (and even if it did, it's still means benching otherwise viable weapons and frames). Running isn't an option for every mission type (and even if it was, a player refusing to engage in a gameplay element should be a red flag). And even if I did join New Loka, there's still the chance someone else on my squad who didn't join New Loka might get attacked and I'll get dragged in to it. Besides, don't forget I'm Jewish. "#*!% the Nazis" is a family creed.

Weird, I'm dealing with them just fine so maybe try upping your mod build? Sortie is pretty easy

They are not that difficult to fight, it’s more than likely your mod setup that you have equipped is why you’re struggling with them.

Even if it is just my mods (which I kinda doubt since all of my mods are max rank and I've got the usual damage/crit/elemental damage/etc and this stuff STOMPS Sorties and holds up pretty well in Arbitration), that doesn't excuse the fact that there's still such a massive power imbalance between Death Squads. And I don't think they're difficult to fight, just miserable and tedious.

Yeah they are the buffiest of them all, but that was the reason I fully changed syndicates.. they are more threatening in some missions than the other three..

You know the blue print they drop?  Build some until you can mod fodder them.

But but... I was told that Infested have the lowest EHP and are the easiest enemies in the game even with all their immunities and resistances provided by their Ancients..

No offense but it's your build or weapon choice. I and many others can chop them apart in seconds without a problem.

Its only miserable and tedious with a bad build. You said it yourself, built for damage, crit, elementals. That's why you struggle. Whereas my own weapon will kill them in 1 swing.

Find and focus the healers, as they fall things will get easier, tell eventually you'll be able to clear the rest in a swing/shot or two.

Healers' aura aren't suppose to affect other ancients. The one's that can be a problem, in terms of durability, are the Sanguine and Venomous Eximus unit as the former has a much higher defense stats and healing when dealing damage while the former nullifies all toxin damage including in combo-elements that uses it.

Wrong weapons for it. One  of the weapons I use makes them look like E Prime Earth Grinneer against an MR50. It's all about having multiple statuses and damage across all of your weapons- PERIOD. If you're using all of the same statuses thinking it's universal, you're doing it wrong.

If you're talking about Max Status Condition Overload stuff then I don't have that. If I'm really just not building right I'll accept that but that really just proves my ultimate point that these guys should not be this sponge-y. There are people who are worse off than me who can handle the other squads on the same levels and even if you or I could find a way to shred Loka Death Squads they may not have that option. What is your solution for them? I'm sorry if I sound snippy but me and my friends went through the same S#&$ when the Wolf was ruining our day as pre-Second Dream newbies and every solution we were given amounted to "use weapons/mods and/or frames that you don't have and can't get yet" and I don't like being back in that emotional place.

Wiki says Blast and Corrosive which I've tried against them. I've diversified my elements as best I can and still hit sponge.

Condition overload is nice but just adding blood rush and body count to your build will help keep your combo and gain a massive damage boost. Syndicates won't usually show up till you've killed a few enemies in the mission so if by that stage you're at 2.5x combo with a decent melee (slash based) you'll tear new loka apart.

My own go to melee for the game is Guandao with primed pressure point, primed reach, primed fever strike, maiming strike, primed fury, blood rush, body count and a crit dmg, crit chance, range riven. They don't have a prayer against that but it's massive overkill.

Straight up don't have that. Can't get Body Count either from the looks of it because that event is over.

I think Eximus also take 50% less damage. I am on a phone so it's a pain to check! But yes, corrosive and blast should put them to bed!

My first comment was wrong weapons. My MAIN primary is an ignis Wraith with blast and corrosive. Blast knocks em over(cant hurt you if they're laying down) and corrosive to melt their face. Secondary is a crit moon with radiation. Melee is a Zanistar with 2 more statuses. Throw the Zeni disk, hit em with ignis and if that's not doing the trick, crit moon smacks em down in 3-4 shots. And be sure to line em up so you hit multiple targets at one time. Oh and dont stand still. Move. They cant grab you when you're sliding and dashing around.

3 weapons, different statuses, using all three in tandem. They arent that difficult.

Headshot them with Corrosive Opticor Vandal. That will definitely work!

Unfortunately those are the mods (and maiming strike) that make melee OP as hell. Sortie level enemies are a bad gauge for how good a weapon is cos they tend to be basic enemies with no buffs etc and can be taken apart with ease. New loka are an actual proper enemy. The closest thing to an annoying normal enemy would be a sortie level Nox and I'm certain you wouldn't wreck them either. Depending on the level if you really have trouble, you can simply ignore new loka and move on with your mission.

And what do you suggest to players don't have access to all of that? Because that's the crux of it. Not everyone has your power at their disposal and they're still forced to deal with these jerks on missions like Defense. If they're a proper enemy but even Sortie enemies aren't, then they shouldn't be harassing people who aren't even ready for Sorties in huge mobs. Please, I'm BEGGING you here, have sympathy for those less grizzled than you.

How about do the Thermia Fractures event and get your hands on that Opticor Vandal (which is rewarded and useable regardless of your MR)?

It's an awful lot of trouble though. Have you tried another hard hitting weapon like a sniper or a shotgun like Hek?
