RakShar_ThePaladinGod Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I will get straight to the point here: let Warframe Specters fill up matches. The way I imagine this is basically like with the Index where the players team is made of specters for each missing player. This function would make the Conclave feel less empty overall and perhaps even encourage players to still play it since Specters will complete the teams anyway. Given that, the teams may even not need to be formed with AI controlled Specters since everyone joins assuming they will be. Of course, Specters would not be limited to the team modes and they will scale based of your rank with Teshin, going from Vapor Specters up to Cosmic Specters; like the ones you can deploy in your missions via the Gear wheel. Meaning that someone with the lowest rank will have Vapor Specters as potential allies/enemies and those who have the highest rank with Teshin will be joined by Cosmic Specters. With this Conclave may be a relatively active gamemode again, making Conclave Rewards attainable again to the majority of the player base (I'm looking at you, Celestia Syandana) while also not having to play matches with only a very small amount of players who are eiher fresh newcomers to the game or that one vet that played the game since the moment it came out and has nothing left to do and dominates everyone. There would be actual "elo" within the Conclave unlike the two player skill levels I mentioned before, making everything more diverse as well. This was my "optimistic approach" to reviving the Conclave, however I also thought of an alternative that may sound really bland but whatever. That idea is simply removing conclave as a whole and putting all the rewards somewhere else. Conclave Mods will just be put together as drops amongst all the other mods from the PvE mode and Cosmetics such as the Riv Armor Sets, Conclave Weapon Skins and the Celestia Syandana would either be part of Invasions, Baro or Tactical Alerts. Coming back to the Celestia Syandana, since Conclave as a whole would be removed it wouldn't make sense to have the lightbeams appear by completing Conclave Challenges/Missions, therefore the beams shall be active permanently at all times. Now I hope this post will spark some attention within the community and somehow, someway get to DE; cause honestly I kinda like Conclave in it's idea. Just the current state it is in right now kinda makes me upset
Stormdragon Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 (edited) My main issue with adding bots is that conclave would become just rathuum with more maps and since this playerbase is all about finding the path of least resistance (instead of actually playing the game, as proven by the old conclave events, dog days, certain video by a partner and the sheer amount of people leeching in lootcave missions) a lot of people would just keep abusing the matchmaking system to farm either friends or bots without ever fighting an actual opponent. Imo, bots would be fine to test stuff and practice targets, but should not grant standing (fwiw, i wouldn't mind it if the reward acquisition system was reworked but that's another topic) 10 hours ago, RakShar_ThePaladinGod said: This function would make the Conclave feel less empty overall A match/server browser could achieve the same since currently all we have is an unreliable RNG matchmaking system that doesn't fit PvP. Keep in mind that currently there are 4 game modes and 6 regions (NA, SA, Asia, OCE, EU, Eastern EU+RU) which translates to 24 different player pools (48 for people who can also enable RC on) and the current system searches for active lobbies with room available in only one of them, and that the only way to exhaust the possibilities is trying all 4 modes and manually changing regions (and enabling/disabling RC), process that achieves nothing but to reduce the chances of encountering other player in the same situation and normally exhausts the player instead. And all of that is also before we get to talk about the ping limiter and how it can sometimes prevent you from joining a lobby with a stable ping above the set limit (something perhaps you could easily handle) while some others it may find an unstable lobby that gets below your ping limit for a split second before jumping to infinity and beyond (an issue in the game as a whole, but is most noticeable in PvE and P2P sessions that tend to happen in regions without servers). If bots doubled the playerbase, and half of those new players abused the system, that's still a 50% increase in decent players. And even if it has the potential for abuse, it isn't like current Conclave doesn't have a similar 'path of least resistance' problem, or that other improvements wouldn't introduce something of that nature. There's also a handful of ways to tweak bots so that they can give standing under certain conditions, e.g. players can get 5 bots worth of standing for every 500-something damage dealt to players. It's not 100% abuse-proof but it still gives the players who get dominated constantly some manner of headway and some means of blowing off steam without being a Rathuum copy-paste. That's even if one wanted them to grant standing at all: you could rework the standing gain into a sort of 'golf' format so that players gain standing based on their match KDR versus their overall KDR. E.g., Standing per match = base standing * (match KDR / player KDR + 0.5). That way, players who suck don't need to look to ways to abuse the system to get a feeling of getting ahead - at least at the same rate. Edited August 23, 2019 by Tyreaus
Witchydragon Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 I think adding bots to Team Annihilation matches that have at least 2 opposing players sounds good. But to reduce the incentive to farm them, they shouldn't grant the following things: Kills- They shouldn't show up as Kills in your score screen or tracked for lifetime K/D Standing/XP- Or they should only grant 25% standing. Playing against real players should grant the most standing. Daily missions. Obviously. They should, however, drop (maybe partial) Oro that contributes to the match win. Thus killing them is not a total waste of time, and if someone is struggling to get a kill, this could help them to contribute to the match rather than just feeding the enemy team. Also, the bots should share the same stats as normal players. Maybe randomized loadouts could be funny; imagine a notorious ignis/staticor wielding bot. 1
(XBOX)Zweimander Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 I would prefer it stays enpty so that when I feel like it I can trade wins with my friend to max my standing. Very few play conclave to just play it and it is just a bad gane mode in general. Bots would not stop people from cheesing standing either and if they granted standing it would even make cheesing easier as well while just annoying the few hardcore players. Better to keep it as it is on the life support that has kept it alive for this long and the hardcore players able to do as they want instead of throwing bots in dont ya think?
Loxyen Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 You lost me with the bottom line..
