First of all I just want to do a bit of butt kissing and say congrats DE.  I am not sure about Orb Vallis but PoE has been really stable.  No major bounty bugs or anything that I have noticed.  I go out there and can spend hours in one instance.  I dont usually do bounties in OV but when I have done them most of the missions work.  So they are finally working as intended and it feels great to be out there.

I feel like a couple of the missions segments need to get tweaked though.. (This is based on solo play)

1st problem: @PoE the most annoying and inconsistant mission that desperately needs tweaked is "Liberate Enemy Camp".  You goto the waypoint, you wipe out the enemies there,  this starts a count down where you have to defend the place or rather maintain control.  As enemies drop in you or just as time passes you lose control.  If you kill enemies then your control goes back up....   This mission is super inconsistant and frustrating.  The rate of decay of control is waaay to fast.  If you kill a group of enemies and get to 100% control..  If you do one bullet jump to get to the next group of enemies its usually already down to 80%.  If you are not constantly killing stuff it is very easy to just run out of time.   But that brings up another issue.  This mission waypoint covers a very big area and enemies usually get dropped off on opposite sides of the bubble.  It makes it very hard to even find the enemy which means your control over the place is rapidly decaying.   Also sometimes new reinforcements dont even show up.   They seem to only come in by dropship.  It would help if they could just beam in so there is a constant supply?

-Slow the rate of decay for control %

-tweak reinforcements to show up more frequently and or just be teleported directy into the area like corpus reinforcements.

2nd Problem: Drone pathing.  Drones need to be able to know when they are stuck and teleport like 10 meters closer to endpoint.  They do a great job most of the time but last night I got one stuck on the side of a mountain and it could not free itself and I just had to let it fail.  I've also seen them get stuck on rocks.  Any really high vertical angle.  I dont want them to be able to teleport like hostages do which would defeat the purpose of escort/hijack but we should be able to make them do small hops or something to get unstuck.

3rd Problem:  This one is for Orb Vallis but ties into PoE also.   The mission segment where you have to defend the coil drives is incredibly hard because of its shield/HP levels.   You can fail the T1 bounty version of this if you are solo and dont have any control abilities.   Compare a drone on PoE which is damn near invincable to the Armored Vaults on PoE that you have to defend to the Coil Drive on OV and there is HUGE differences in the values.  Defend the coil drive is my most hated mission segment in OV.   The Coil Drive needs to be ATLEAST on the same level as the armored vaults on PoE.  It would be hella nice if coil drives/armored vaults were like drones.   I would even be happy with drones being more paper thin like a coil drive is now because atleast it moves, and the enemy waves are slow and come from one direction(cept dargyns).

If you guys tweaked these 3 things the bounties would be pretty close to perfect.

I have seen others complain of the gunships on PoE and I really have to agree.  Those damn gunships probably account for 90%+ of my deaths in PoE.   Some of the missions including the hardest one in PoE (camp liberation) make these spawn and hover over the battlefield.  They will melt your face off before you even realize it.  Your already getting shot from multiple directions so its hard to tell when a damn gunship is around and murdering you.  They have insanely high defense/hp.   Last night I was up at the mountain base off to the left of Cetus and there were TWO gunships for some reason.  I died sooo much.

Besides the chaingun turrets on the ground that you can easily take out (this is how easy the gunships should be to take out).  Nothing else out there in PoE can kill you as fast.  This suggests the gunships/turrets are little to OP.

However, even with turrets/gunships as they are...  the 3 problems above are what ruins my fun in PoE/OV.   Failing bounties not because I died,  but because a drone gets stuck or I cant find stuff to kill fast enough or defense objectives are to weak.

-------------------

I recently played Arbitrations for the first time.   The defense objective being a person and him following you are was cool as hell.  Imagine replacing armored vaults or hostage rescue with something like that on open world maps.   You would instinctually move around with the guy to run away from enemies and get some distance.   But moving around like that on the open world maps can be dangerous,  you could run into enemy bases or thumpers and stuff.

It would be cool if the drones had to hit up atleast one enemy base to recharge their energy before they could reach their endpoint.  When they are recharging it could trigger craploads of enemies to spawn.  It would make it feel hectic like Defection when the npc's are huddled around the oxygen tanks lol.  Besides breaking and getting stuck on things "Follow the drone" is actually a pretty boring mission..

--------------------

But anyways please consider the 3 problems I mentioned.  I hang out in PoE/OV to grind standing to buy arcanes and decorations,  I love conservation.  You guys have done a really great job at pounding out bugs and getting them working correctly for the most part and I personally really enjoy playing in both places long after I maxed my ranks, crafted the craftables,  tackled the bosses.

I cant wait for another open world map(infested!!)

i have had all these problems too, and more, not just 3 minor issues.

solution to problem 1) increase enemies for solo play
solution to problem 2) increase the height that the drone hovers (its very low to the ground, which is why it gets stuck)
solution to problem 3) no solution needed (use a defensive frame like frost) (dont even try say that you dont want to be forced to use a frame you dont want)

however, 2 of those 3 problems are resolved by playing in group, the drone needs a fix.

the reason armored vaults have such high hp, is because they are part of the grineer side, coil drives have high shields instead because they are part of the corpus.
dont compare a small mobile object with a huge stationery object (obviously the huge object will be destroyed faster)

Absolutely, I agree that HP values should be adjusted for Solo play. THere's been a couple times where I kill enemies just fine, but in short of standing still in front of the target to take bullets for it, there's no way for me to defend the target. (I've actually done this before)

  • 2 weeks later...

I have to agree. "Liberate the camp" is my most hated bounty on PoE. I can't remember how many times I've failed it because I couldn't find any enemies to kill. Increasing enemy count when solo, or decreasing the size of the area to defend I think would help. Not having the areas spawn around deep tunnels, or keeping enemy spawns to the surface just for that mission (or solely underground if the start point is underground) would also help. I'm not fond of the Armored Vault bounty either but at least that one is generally doable solo... well as long as you don't have gunships and/or thumpers spawning on top of you as well, like I did today.

Defend the drone can be very boring or full on crazy depending on the path the drone takes. I know I've had at least one of these where I saw zero enemies from start to finish. But by the same token I've had others where the drone paths right through an enemy base, complete with turrets and all and I had to work my butt of to keep the thing alive. I'm not sure how that one could be made more consistent.  Having the drone get stuck is a pain. It would be nice to be able to trigger the drone to follow you, like you can do with the specters, so that you can move it away from where it gets stuck, then release it to resume a path to the target.

OV Defend the Coildrive is the single reason that I don't run solo bounties on OV any more. Even with a decent defense frame like Frost or Gara and a specter to assist I've struggled to keep the Coildrive safe. If I absolutely must do bounties on OV, I'll run them until this mission comes up and then abandon the bounty. I agree with 5pp33y_01, the coildrive is Corpus and should have less overall health than say the Grineer drone or vault, but right now I think the health/shield values are far too low. Slowing down the enemy spawn rates when playing solo might also help as it could give the Coildrive shields a chance to recharge.
