Because in Chinese...... there's no global for them......they need to switch VPN to access other places.

And here is the thing : Switch VPN isn't easy for them. Even when they switch it, the network will become more lag, and they might get caught because of this too.

I fail to see the logic here. If global Warframe is so hard to access from China, why are there so many Chinese players in global version?

Lack of trading system and updates lagging behind sounds like a solid reason though.

Steam itself is not blocked in China, that’s why and literally any game that has a Chinese server sucks because almost all Chinese gaming companies are like EA, Warframe is not pay-to-win, but it will be in the Chinese Server. However, without a VPN, we cannot secure a stable connection, the red text “network not responding” is a constant issue, strict-NAT always happens, almost impossible to find public squads and always get host migration if we choose to use the recruit channel, either we get dc’ed (not hosting) or everyone else got kicked (we’re hosting). But gaming VPN is very common and easy to access in China, the one I’m using cost only about 5 dollars a month and it’s very stable.

I speak Mandarin, but I play the English version as you can see I’m pretty well versed in English, also the translation sucks on so many levels... Well, for the majority of us that don’t speak a single word of English, I can see where this review bombing is coming from...

They forbid konzu to eat cat meat, no now seriously looks like the Chinese publisher have shady stuff, from having crap connection, having fired a leaker translator and having google translate all ever since to so0mething happening with how hong kong and taiwan appear as different countries, that made difficult to for the players to comunicate, no warframe china forums and the classic no endgame/ lack of updates, all sumed up to the point we are now.

Perfect World --- devil's advocate,  Leyou ---  Chicken frame company,  Changyou --- the Chinese right hand,  NetEase --- warframe mobile version soon Tm.

Tencent --- the lucky one.

wasnt there a reddit post not long ago stating that Meitu (phone maker and mobile app devs) bought shares from Leyou, if anything that would be the mobile link.

I just find it mind blowing that this is China we are talking about, its not exactly small or lacking in people, and here we have 2 separate companies with 2 separate warframes that cant even manage to cobble together some translators for a game that naturally would like more money on a regular basis yet seems to be making that simple process as hard as possible.

It's suddenly getting review bombed by... Chinese people?  The hell happened?

DE asked volunteer tranlators to help translate the game into simplified chinese.

One of these volunteer leaked confidential data and information about the game and was rude to DEs employees.

DE removed this person from the volunteer program because of this.

Some chinese players think that it's unfair and are now reviewbombing, since they don't have anything better to to.

Could this be more Canada vs China aggressions?

Isn't that how the lore of the Fallout series starts?

Apologies if so, doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

It's actually quite simple, Leyou bought part of the stocks from DE. They invested into a growing company. But since they were originally a chicken supplier, they don't enforce any creative rules. They just let DE do their thing, which was something Scott, Steve and Sheldon heavily emphasised, when they talked about the decision.

This explains, why I start to see more players which have chinese sounding names. for example "XianYi" or so..

Not to mention the associated notable lag, but that's nothing they can change.

I know this, that's not the part that confuses me.

My confusion lies more in the fact that they were bought by one Chinese company, but published by another and the intricacies behind that.

If by Leyou were talking about the chinese chicken factory then they never bought warframe or DE. They are the majority shareholders of DE, though they only got to buy them after agreeing to let DE be completely autonomous. The only condittion for the deal that was laid out was that DE dont skip or delay prime releases.

As far as I know currently LeYou bought 61% of shares in 2014 and the rest in 2018. Currently they own 97% and Perfect World has 3%. They just let DE do their own stuff though.

The existence of ChinaFrame was partly due to a regulation requirement in China, that all foreign games that provide service to China must have their server setup domestically too. But ChinaFrame itself has a lot of problem, including but not limited to lack of trade system. Plus many players have been playing in the global version of Warframe way before the acquisition and ChinaFrame become a thing. So you still see a lot of Chinese players in Warframe.

I'm also surprised by this fact too... Though I'm not sure whether there are some potential conflict interest between DE and LeYou. Although this sounds weird, but if DE does a extremely good job in localization, then many Chinese player would just abandon ChinaFrame and on board the global version, which decreases the revenue of ChinaFrame. And vice versa. It's kinda like playing rock paper scissors by yourself, and you are not really sure if both your hands are demanding victory at their best.

So, that's where all these S#&$ty hosts have been coming from. DE either needs to block access to NA servers from china, or forbid people with a certain ping from getting host.

There is already an in game option that prevents you from matching players over a ping threshold that can be specified by yourself.

Besides, according to the region you're in, the game will prioritize matchmaking with people of the same region...

This debacle is a joke. The translator screwed up, knowing full well the leak was illegal and what he was doing was wrong, and after getting fired decided to pull a Zoe Quinn and play the victim in the Chinese forums.

And they ate it up.

All other things aside, muttering that something feels like machine TN isn't rude if the translation quality is actually that low (which by all accounts is true for official TN work).

I've seen enough people getting paid for shoddy machine TN-tier work on webnovels and games localized into English to have zero difficulty believing that.

Because the Chinese government is essentially a giant corporation that regularly censors or alters content of digital products according to its own discretion. Games have had details of their gameplay, plot, or setting changed to be more friendly to "socialist values." What does that mean? Well just about anything the Chinese government says it means. Plot details, game mechanics, in-game currencies, and even the corporate partnership that the game is being published through are all blanketed under that vague concept. The Chinese version of a game can actually be quite a bit worse because of this.
