Will this game ever get cross-play?

I'm really asking myself that because I want to progress on my PC account on the Nintendo Switch.

Actual crossplay, no, for several reasons. Most important the techncal side, that the game often has different builds on it's different systems.

 

But DE is looking into the possibility of cross-platform progression, which whould be what you want.

cross play between all platforms will not work as pc gets new builds head of time an jsut cause of this locks it out of cross play between consoles
then there is platform exclusives skins that are only coded for that platform

they are talking about cross save progression in which you can freely move your save data between platforms but not play on pc an play with a friend on console

Did you just not read the post you quoted?
No, cross-PLAY won't come. It's not even what you are looking for. Cross-PLAY means playing with players on another platform. It doesn't mean you can use your own account on multiple platforms.
You want cross-PROGRESS. DE talked about it a few Devstreams back. They said they would like to make it happen. Nothing new since then. Maybe they will make it happen, or maybe they won't.

In reality there is no point in waiting for it to happen at this point in time.
You are better off to just start over again. It's not really that difficult.

pc is used to pretest content before release to consoles. they are loooking into a cross save system where you can kind of save your progress from one platform to another on the fly i think, not sure about on the fly as it could have issues related to build difference. but they do have something in the works to allow for more cross play without having players form one console in another game with another console or pc

k will try to put it simple
you play on pc an quite far ahead an say for your birthday you get a switch as all your friends have one
you suggest hey a game i like to play is also playable on switch too
download game an enter your details an probbily get prompt saying he i see your a pc player would you like to moves your progress onto here an you do so.
you now have MOST of your stuff as plat, an content that not out on switch from your pc transfer you might not have acess to play till you move back to your pc.
You swap between playing on pc an the switch freely while with some minor inconveniences.
Now say your visiting a relative an cant bring your switch but they have a ps4 an your able to set up a ps4 account an they already have warframe on there an you have permission to play, you can again transfer your account data onto this save an not have to start the game over.

there  things like what will happen to players that have already have different accounts the platforms already
as DE might have a warning stating that any progress made on the platform your trying to transfer your data to will overite the accoutn details already on it.

then there how will warframe know what your other platform accounts are yours.
might have us link are platform accounts on the homepage settings so it knows what your other platform accounts are

no cross plat between the platforms is NEVER gonna happen in the future
pc will not play with switch
ps4 will nto play with switch
xbox will not paly with pc
switch will not play with xbox

the possiblity of moving your save between platforms is up in idea phase till DE works out all the details on how it could work

That’s funny cause PSO2 is getting crossplay on all platforms in spring 2020.

cross progress just means as say a PC player, when cross-progress lands you could then go off and buy an xbox+ps4, install warframe and login to those and carry on your PC warframe progress on those consoles without starting anew, the same should apply to any of those platforms, play on 1, progress a bit, login to a different platform and carry on as normal.

the deployment delays from pc to consoles just makes it impossible.

Starting over in this game is a massive pain in the ass. I'm sure not redoing hundreds of hours in a game where it can take days to unlock new items.

Never said that people HAVE to start over.
But cross save, or anything like that, could still take 1 or 2 years, or even never come at all.

So if people really wanted to switch from one platform to another, then starting over is the smarter choice, because waiting for something, that might neever happen is just silly.

And Warframe isn't all that difficult to start over. Does it take some time because of build timers and such? Sure.
But when you start over, you know what to do right from the start. So you can do things efficiently.
