Why do people keep going on about reworks for <insert warframe> ?

Recommended Posts

Is this just a trendy thing to do?

Or is there a genuine need for certain frames?

Wasnt there a supposed to be a Hydroid one???

Cause with the new warframes that are coming out,the old ones are getting obsolete, hence why the rewords are needed to keep them up to date...for instance i bet you that you havent seen any loki, rarely see any rhino, volt, limbo, vauban, hydroid etc etc..cause they've mostly become unneeded.

it has been around for a long time. basically ever since warframes started stepping on eachothers toes role-wise. Which has been almost always.

Hydroid has actually had a bit of a revisit (rework) but people are hard to please some times. He's better.

Atlas Had one, I believe the same time that Nyx and maybe Mag? It did wonders for Atlas.

Wukong has been a long requested frame to get one because his skills weren't ever well received and the best thing he had going, wasn't the exalted staff, but his Defy skill that allowed you to withstand everything that was thrown your way except energy drain.

Ember has been a frame that's been hit on for many reasons in the past, and the most recent, has made her unappealing to players who did nothing but play her from the lowest mastery, to the highest.

She was abused and over used before that change to her. Now they are trying to fix her right.

Not all frames need reworks, like Mesa or Mirage. Nidus neither. But older frames, or frames with skills that can be done by other frames in much more useful ways, need revisited once in a while. Loki is one frame that'll stand the test of time with his skills.
Purely utility type frame, but one of the only ones that's never really been changed.

Trend or not, reworks speak for themselves if you've ever played any of these frames before, and after.

Just came to mind: Did you ever play back when Excalibur had Super Jump? No? How about when Radial Javelin shot out Javelins in a fanning Radius from your Excalibur? His rework saw the change of Radial Javelin actually teleporting in front of, and hitting targets, instead of being a radial-hope-it-hits-something spray of javelins, and further down the road, they merged Super Jump(3) with Slash Dash, and moved Radial Javelin from 4 to 3, and made Exalted Blade. The first of it's kind.

Rhino's skills used to be Rhino Charge, Iron Skin, Stasis, and Quake? Stasis would knock enemies into the air, dealing no dmg but suspend them in the air for a duration allowing you to shoot them. I believe 4th was called Quake, and it dealt the dmg like Stomp does now. They were merged together as the 4th skill, and Roar was introduced the as the 3rd skill, as a buff.

Ember used to have a Fire Armor that left fire trails behind her. That was replaced in one of her revisits(rework) with Accelerant. Those who played her before this fire armor was removed, knew how tanky she actually was.

Not all reworks are good, but reworks have been happening with Frames for YEARS. Not a trend, it is something that's been going on since the beginning.

Oh how did I forget! Nekros Desecrate actually stopped you from moving around if you wanted to loot. You had to mash your 3 key to have him use desecrate, over and over, just for loot. It was a full body animation so you had no choice but to stand there and mash 3 for loot. Since his rework, his shadows have become useful means of tanking dmg, and now desecrate is toggle. Press 3, and walk off to forget it's on.

Hydroid got a rework and he is still relatively S#&$ty. That in itself should explain just how bad some of the warframes are.

Power creep makes a strong habit of invalidating old things, so as DE continues to keep upping the capabilities of new things it makes all the old stuff more and more in need of renovation. The recurrence of rework requests is just the result of a lot of old things needing tidying up to new standards, and since those standards are always shifting there is pretty much always something in need. Tis the hole DE has decided to dig themselves, or at least one of them.

hmm bcs all older wfs have min one ability thats stupidly usseles or they have abilites that arent working together some little interactions are just cool

frost 1 for example its zero dmg one target ...

ember 1 same

chroma 1 4

gara 3

loki 1

mirage 1

nekros 1

walkyr 1

vauban 1 2

there is tons of things to improve its stupid to have a frame like mirage or chroma and use one or 2 abylities

It's kind of a thing that DE started. Players said they would not plat a frame since they did not like it's powers so DE changed and updated the powers. The players saw they had some control over changes and then stop playing a frame and ask for changes for said frame. DE gives changes and they move to the next.

Now, I do not think 1 frame has remained the same since they were placed out. Hek, I bet a few have been touched a few times as well. Ah well ...what can we do who had no issues with the frames the way they were since we knew how to play them? Relearn and remember the old days

Because people think that having 4 terrible abilities that, when combined together, make up for one decent ability is somehow better than having 1 insanely good ability and 3 situational ones, just cause of "synergy". Aka, as always, people have no idea what the heck they're talking about, but they say it anyway cause hey, everyone else does it, so might as well join the herd.

Because DE invented nukes and knwo a WF need some kind of nuking capacity to be relevant, old days were all about roles, you had TANK, CC, DPS, people played shotting at CC enemies and that was the meta, but as the game evolved, people nowdays go for the best CC are death enemies and everyone want to nuke, so old frames were left irrelevant, as DPS with no nuking, other cases that reworks were made but were unaccepted by the community, and the wukong case that he was so resiliant that was not even fun to use.

Its because people don't understand why reworks happen or are needed to begin with, its not if a Frame isn't played as much or as seen as bad, mostly because these are purely subjective or preference based. Its for when a frame is struggling in the current environment of Warframe, or if they were designed to do something, and they do it poorly, or what they're doing doesn't necessarily align with what DE wanted from that frame. Yea some of the frames that got reworked previously were seen as bad or were underplayed, but reworking them didn't change that.

Oberon for an example is in a much better place than he was prior to his rework, yet he isn't seen anywhere outside of places where healing in needed, and the player and choose not to play Trinity. Speaking on trinity, because of her existence there are still players out there that think that Oberon is bad or irrelevant and is still in need of another rework. This can apply to pretty much any Warframe that's been rework recently, with a few exceptions like Sayrn, she was already widely seen and played already, reworking her did make her better, but other than nothing much

Maybe they tend to rework ones which hardly see much use / or reduced usage like Wukong apparently (im wonder which ones are lowest on usage totem pole at moment - bar the ones like Harrow/Titania/Revenant/Khora .....). I mean both Wukong and Atlas usage seems to have exploded since their rework (remains to be seen if that is ongoing)

Because using different frames is the only way to get any variety in a very repeatative game like WF and some frames are indeed relatively bad/useless and certainly need an improvement or rework

^That.

Vauban and Ember were DESPERATE for them and there are still more frames that could use either a complete overhaul (Nyx) or some touchups (Loki) because of their abilities not having aged well.

I mean just look at Revenant. Have you ever seen such a thing? A being of such a sad and pitiful existence I’m surprised he has deleted himself from the game. It’s no wonder there are people like me who want him reworked.

Shield of Shadows was basically the same before and after the rework. Pre-rework, you could have over 2 dozen shadows all splitting the damage up. Post-rework, you only have 7 Shadows but you can boost their health with Power Strength and refill their health on command

Well some frames just get outdated.

The new frames get all sort of fun synergies and fluid gameplay, but the old ones stay the same. They are slow, don't have many synergies and usually have 2 useful abilities. And others don't have any useful abilities at all.

Like valkyr has 2 actually useful abilities but a frame like Wisp can use all her abilities effectively and she can combine those abilities as well.

Because forum users are typically bored vets that learned the game in and out so they naturally have way more attention to detail to go along with their boredom.
