A Guide on Lua's 7 Halls of Ascension (SPOILERS FOR THE SECOND DREAM AND BEYOND)

Question

This has been done to death already on Youtube, but nobody's really talked about how to literally cheese some of them as far as I'm aware, so here we are. (I'm unavailable ingame at the moment; I'll add photos later.)

WHAT ARE THE 7 HALLS OF ASCENSION AND WHY SHOULD I CARE?

The 7 Halls of Ascension in Lua are optional puzzles located along the main mission path that reward the player with a mod unique to each puzzle upon completion. Here's a catalog of all 7 of them:

latest?cb=20171007135201Agility Drift: currently the only mod in the game that decreases enemy accuracy when targeting the player. This mod is rewarded from the Agility Test.

latest?cb=20171008162120Coaction Drift is a mod that boosts the strength of your Aura Mods. (It does not affect Power Donation and Growing Power, however). It is an essential for efficient eidolon hunts and is rewarded from the Collaboration Test.

latest?cb=20171007145432Cunning Drift is a downgraded Maglev that also gives a minor ability range boost. This mod is rewarded from the Cunning Drift test.

latest?cb=20180213174117Endurance Drift grants energy reserves and parkour velocity. This mod is rewarded from the Endurance Test.

latest?cb=20171007153644Power Drift is a mod that grants ability strength and a chance to negate a knockdown effect. This mod is rewarded from the Power Test.
latest?cb=20171007154737Speed Drift is a mod that grants minor casting speed and sprint speed bonuses. This mod is rewarded from the Speed Test, the rarest of all 7.

latest?cb=20171007154850Stealth Drift is a mod that grants enemy detection on the minimap as well as minor aim glide/wall latch time bonuses. This test is rewarded from the Stealth test.

The portal rooms that teleport the player to a room to claim the mod are also possible Ayatan Treasure spawn locations.

THE TESTS, and how to cheese them.

First things first: you're going to have to find the test rooms, for which I recommend Plato, Lua, the crossfire Exterminate mission. (Do not do Capture; it has a very low chance of spawning a room at all. Exterminate can spawn up to 3 rooms in a single run and almost always guarantees one. You'll want a good nuke (Equinox, Mesa, Saryn, etc) to speed up killing, along with several utility frames. (Remember to eliminate any sentients before proceeding to a test room.)

On to the cheese.

AGILITY TEST

The premise of the test: you have to launch yourself into the air via a set of tubes that glow green, shoot a flashing button/plate, and land on the next glowing pipe, until you reach the challenge room's topmost pipe. This will launch you to the side of the chute that will open up into the portal room, which you can wall-hop up to. Landing on the floor resets the test, and the tube covers will actively push you away when closed.

The Cheese for this test in particular

You will want any hitscan weapon without a range. This is to hit the relevant button without too much pain.

There are also 4 platforms towards the top of the challenge room, that can be reached by loading yourself onto the lowermost pipe, and bullet jumping upwards when launched. While common knowledge, you should either aim to get the entirety of your squad onto those platforms before one member attempts the test, or keep your squad away from the challenge room. If anyone so much as steps on the floor of it the test resets.

The key to doing this test is to stay in the air and/OR aim your jumps carefully, heading back to the top of the room if you so much as suspect you might drop from the air. To those ends:

Nova can aim wormholes into the organs.

Nezha can teleport into/near the organs with Blazing Chakram, however this is finicky.

Titania can trigger organs while in Razorwing, and cannot hit the ground as long as she has energy.

Wukong's Cloud Walker can be used to slow vertical descent and aim your jumps.

Loki can switch teleport with his Decoy to land in the organs perfectly. Do note that this requires a fair bit of range, as teleporting midair can be next to impossible and must be done from the upper platforms. Additionally he can switch teleport directly into the portal room as you can see inside if with certain lines of sight.

Ivara's Dashwires can be used as safety guards against falling. However the forced momentum from the ziplines can be hard to manage.

Zephyr's passive grants a safeguard against falling. Tail Wind can be used to aim your jumps, but again forces momentum.

A Gauss player with enough skill can Mach Rush directly into organs from a midair aimed ground slam.

Aero Vantage, Patagium and Aerodynamic can be used to give breathing room.

However if you don't want to use a specific frame, OPERATORS (post TWW) can be used to trivialise the test. Jump down from the ledge as the operator (Leave the warframe on the platform) in clear view of the organ's opening, activate void mode to slow your descent, and void dash towards the lid. You'll end up just above the organ. Take your time to regenerate energy or transfer back to your warframe and bullet jump/void dash back up to the platform as soon as you're launched.

COACTION DRIFT

The test requires multiple pads to be held open at any given time for passageways to open.
Sequence, courtesy of the wiki:

  1. Step on the pad by the entrance. This pad must be held down by a player or Operator.
  2. Another player (or Operator in focus form, walking form doesn't work) must step on the new pad that was released – One method of performing this solo would be to place your Warframe on the new pad and to run back to the first pad with your operator.
  3. Step on the pads on the 4 corners of the center vault. Each corner will open a small entrance where there are 2 pads to step on.
  4. Once all 4 corners (8 pads) are activated, the bottom of the center room will open. Enter.
  5. Inside the center room, there will be 4 pressure pads that players must stay on until the gate is fully opened. These pads can be activated by summons.
  6. The portal will be in the final room

Those pads can be activated by:

Warframes (You will need at least 2 players for this test, as the first two pads must be held open by players)

And any 2 from the following:

Warframe Specters.

The operator.

Summons, which include

- Xiphos' sentry guns

- Chroma's Effigy.

- Saryn's Molt.

 -Loki's Decoy.

The use of summons for the activation of the corner pads is purely for efficiency, as no matter what you will need 2 warframes in person to activate the test. The final 4 pads, however, will require specters/summons to be used by 2 people, or with the Operator. (If you want to use Xiphos, then it's advised to use it here due to the 10-minute cooldown)

CUNNING DRIFT

This test is a copy of the Security Eye fight in the Second Dream, where you use the eye's laser beam attack to destroy 4 pendula around the room. Two plates must be shot at the left and right of the room that trigger pillars of water, and the center pad must be stepped on for the fight to begin.

In terms of cheese, there really isn't much you can do as intangibility from the rift does not work on the eye's laser attack. However, there are 4 plates directly in front of the Pendula that can be shot to release a platform that the player can stand on. As soon as the eye releases its laser eye attack, the player can doublejump to avoid the beam and have it damage the pendula. Keep in mind that the eye will constantly teleport behind you; as such avoid looking behind yourself if you're in front of the Pendula for a short while and the eye vanishes, and keep the eye in your sights when it is in the center of the room. (Switching camera positions with the relevant hotkey works.)

Limbo while in the rift may cause the attack to hit the Pendula directly without dodging. (Unconfirmed)

ENDURANCE TEST

Stepping on the glowing pressure plate will cause a circle of lasers (and a few other lasers) to shoot at a panel in the center of the plate, that must be held closed by the player standing on top of it until a pillar of water off the the side fills up completely. An invisible nullifier field covers the vicinity of the pressure plate. Several of the lasers can be disabled by shooting various objects.

This test can be trivialised by any warframe with a sizeable health pool and the mod Adaptation, e.g. Inaros, Nidus, Valkyr Prime. Mod for as much health as possible. Nidus's health regeneration in particular out-heals the lasers' combined damage at a maximum Adaptation stack. After activating the test, use the 'Sit" emote, which will lower your warframe's hitbox below the hitboxes of the laser circle. The remaining laser can either be ignored (health losses compensated with Health Restores from low-level rescues or Squad Health Restores, or with Sanguine Eximus Ancient Healer Spectres from New Loka negating most of what's left) or disabled by a teammate destroying a lantern on the ceiling, which will collapse and block the laser.

An alternative method is to use the Operator. Upon test activation, immediately transfer to the operator, then vacate the area using Void Dash. You may have to bullet jump directly upwards (look at the floor) or double jump upwards (Motus Signal aids in getting off the floor) first. The invulnerable warframe will push the panel (which has enough health to withstand lasers for several seconds). After this your goal is to not take lethal damage as the operator for the duration of the test; a good nuke warframe helps with this. Alternatively the Operator can stay in Void Mode on top of the panel instead; this does require the usage of some Team Energy Restores, however, which I personally try to avoid using.

POWER DRIFT

The trademarks of this test are the 4 blue orbs evenly distributed around the room, which must be filled up with 40 energy from a Warframe or the Operator (whose rate of energy regeneration exceeds that of the rate at which the orbs drain energy.) Additionally the room almost always has a large supply of enemies which can rapidly down the operator or a warframe without defenses. This can be solved by nuking all enemies in the room and looking at the room (preventing enemy spawns), or with an warframe with a duration based invisibility/tank power such as Mesa, Loki, or Rhino. Limbo's Rift Plane can also negate some of the energy drain via regenerating some energy as it is drained. If you don't want to head into operator form (as it is fairly weak hitpoint wise without void mode, which disables the energy regeneration) ensure your energy supply is topped up to full using Zenurik or Team Energy Restores. Once all 4 orbs are filled in quick succession (taking too long will negate the attempt) the plate in the centre of the room will open up a fraction, revealing a staircase that leads into a chute that leads into the portal room.

SPEED TEST

This test is the rarest of all 7 drift rooms. On entry refrain from releasing area-of effects that don't require line of sight such as Equinox's maim burst, which can trigger a button that you have to shoot before you're prepared. Once the button is shot head to the left and right to see a door with a pressure plate in front. One hallway contains multiple Thumper Death Orbs, the other is covered with Ice Floor Hazards that inflict a continuous cold proc once they are touched. Throughout both hallways are rapidly closing doors; most of them will reopen after a while, but taking too long will cause all doors to close in front of you, forcing the test to be prompted again (which can cause the test to bug out if summons are not used). Getting to the final room will reveal a button on top of a doorway; shooting it concludes the test for that corridor.

It is advised to leave a summon at the entrance of each corridor (e.g. Molt, Decoy, Effigy, Specters) to prevent the test from bugging out, as that renders the test uncompletable.

The cheese involves using warframes that have status negation or teleportation abilities, or abilities that allow the warframe to move rapidly airborne, to circumvent the corridors' defenses. Those include:

Ash's Teleport (functional on the Death Orb corridor), Atlas' Landslide, Loki's Switch Teleport, Nova's Wormhole, Titania's Razorwing, Nezha's Warding Halo, Gauss' Mach Rush and Kinetic Plating. Kinetic Plating in particular negates cold procs as well., Rhino's Iron Skin, Excalibur's Slash Dash, Hydroid's Tidal Surge (with augment), Inaros' Scarab Swarm (with augment), Limbo's passive of being in the Rift Plane, Valkyr's Hysteria, Revenant's Mesmer Skin, Wukong's Cloud Walker. Yes there is a fair list.

Alternatively the Operator's Void Dash and Void Beam/hitscan amps can be used to cheese the corridors.

Once the corridors are completed wall-run up a pillar in the center of the main room to reach the portal room.

STEALTH DRIFT

The goal of the test is to reach a pressure plate in another room while avoiding blue lasers deployed around the room. This test can be done with parkour, which gives a fair chance of laser avoidance, or can be cheesed by invisibility powers such as Loki's Invisibility or Ivara's Prowl which will not trigger the lasers.

The easier method however involves the operator. The pressure plate at the destination can be reached ahead of time. Leave the warframe at the center of the plate in the middle of that room, then activate the test in the original room. This immediately completes the test. If this bugs out, void dash and void mode can be used to rapidly traverse the distance between the rooms without fear of detection.

LUA MUSIC PUZZLE

This isn't a hall of ascension, but guarantees Octavia's Chassis and gives a chance at a fully built Forma. You'll notice this room by the giant installment in the middle of the room, surrounded by a pit with a teleport volume.

latest?cb=20180724084450

Press the switch to begin. Once activated, notes will flash blue in a given order:

1. The first note comes from the pad nearest to you on the platform to your right.

2. The second note comes from the pad nearest to you on the platform to your left.

3. The third and fourth notes come from the pads to the left and right of the console, respectively.

4. The 5th note comes from the leftmost note at the left platform.

Activating them in that sequence results in Octavia's Chassis spawning on top of the organ and a crate spawning off to a side room that has a chance of spawning a built forma.

That's it for the guide, hope it helped. Any things I missed could be mentioned in the comments below.

Last I checked, it takes a bit of time before the ability-disabling field on the thing activates, so you should be able to just step on the plate and transfer away without needing to jump around.

Should the warframe be pushed off of the objective for any reason, though, you'll need to do the aforementioned jumping to get it back in place.

I would fix one thing:

I have done this test solo, but it requires the Warframe and either the Operator and two specters, or three specters. The switches that create the wall to bring you up to the final four switches can be done with just the Warframe and Operator. The final four are where the specters are required if there is not a second player (who has completed The War Within) in your squad.

The Operator in walking form (transference) works? I thought it didn't.

Limbo generates energy in his rift and can interact with the energy-sucking orbs on the walls while in his rift. No need to nuke anything.

You can bullet jump to the 2nd floor high up on the very first set of organ pipes. The 2nd floor has 3 locked doors and one broken door with lockers and containers. I'm not sure this is the same as the 4 platforms you're talking about? Landing on the second floor won't reset the test. You can then simply shoot all the buttons from the second floor and merely aim glide down to each new set of open organ pipes and bullet jump back to the second floor until the last organ pipe which will bring you to the Agility Drift reward in the hole at the very top. No special Warframes or strategies needed.

Limbo also works. None of the lasers can detect him in his rift plane. Though, I'm not so sure about Loki? Invisibility doesn't normally make you undetectable to lasers.

One and the same.

Good catch, forgot to mention him. And those aren't de facto lasers btw

It's still not as fast as the energy drain. Heck both together don't cancel out the drain.

Usually by the time you find the test, Limbo's reservoir of energy will be full (or full enough!) from rift walking.

My favorite way to cheese the Cunning test doesn't require the operator or Limbo:

  1. Stand in front of a pillar until the eye thing starts appearing
  2. Run to one of the other pillars on either side and stand behind it
  3. The eye will shoot at you across the room, through the pillar you're standing behind, and break it.  You are perfectly safe.
  4. Repeat

Fair nuff, added.

In Endurance test, you can stand on the plate as Operator in void mode. You just need 2-3 Energy pizzas because Operator will run out of energy too fast.

Thanks for that, I added it but personally I try to avoid energy pad usage, since I burn those everywhere 😛

My hero 😄

I'll try this one out once I have time, since I want to see how exactly it works. (Alternatively you could private-message me a video of it).

Sorry, I don't have one handy.  I'd have to search for the room again or re-do The Second Dream.

This definitely works, but you need to be the only player in the area since the eye will target the nearest warframe or ally.  In public groups (where someone will usually crowd in and try to play hero by jumping over the beam), it can be hard to coordinate, but solo, this works really well.

Cool!  Glad to know it still works.  Yeah, I remember telling everyone else to get out of the room when I was doing this trick.

I thought on endurance you had to shoot the buttons on the outside of the spinning ring but you dont even mention it...  U just stand on button and wait for time to pass ??

I've done the agility test exactly one time lol.  But one tip that might help new guys is that if you aim glide out of a trumpet it lets you ride the air blast upwards.  (then you could bullet jump after gliding up?)

Speed test cheese:  Guns with punch-through/explosions.  Hit the start switch and then you or someone else shoot through the wall to hit the button at the end without ever passing through the challenge part lol.

Nah, that;s optional

Have you tried punch through - if it works?
