Orthos Prime MR12, was it really necessary?

Was about to do a trade and the other guy's MR is too low. This weapon got a buff, I know, but was MR12 really necessary? What's your opinion?

Yes. Orthos Prime is overshadowed by Plague Kripath and hasn't aged too well. However, it's still a great polearm and higher MR locks for good weapons is a good thing as it helps address progression inconsistency.

having drakgoon at 5 and kuva drakgoon at mr13 is just as ridiculous as ferrox being mr14. no logic or plat-around way either

From what I hear the Orthos Prime was in the top tier of melee weapons before Zaws happened. That was before my time here though, but looking at the stats I can see why, and the completely bashed Riven Disposition indicates it used to be very popular. 

Still a great alternative to Zaws if you want to wield something that don't look like you found it in a dumpster. So I'd say that MR is well deserved. 

Didn't know lower MR players still couldn't buy it in parts though, considering they can still get them from relics? I remember I had several weapons in the foundry that I couldn't build or retreive until i reached a higher MR, but I could still own them in pieces. So that limitation is more arguable I think.

Orthos Prime is a beast now, build for slash and status and cleave through rooms dull of enemies.

orthos p was always a beast and many have tried to dethrone it but still  it feels like DE's best weapon ever made. the speed weight and effectiveness in battle is what makes a melee loved or not over all others in the arsenal.

venka and its prime variant gives you the same satisfaction too.

You should look at the actual values for these weapons as well.  The gulf between zaws and other weapons has decreased, and every prime melee has been given it's dues.
