The Synapse - Nostalgia? Thoughts?

Looking at the Synapse, the weapon really reminds me of this

 

I find this pretty amusing and interesting, since I haven't played SW:RC in a long time. Though I heard the weapon had the "okay" reputation, I'll have to use it once I get a few weapons squared away.

 

Thoughts on the Synapse? Good? Bad? Okay? Indifferent? If okay, or bad, what would you change about it?

Good on it's own, godlike when paired with Volt's Electric Shield.

I like the synapse design but not the function. I would rather have a lightning bolt with travel time, say 200 m/s instead of the electric beam with limited range.

I've been a big fan of arc casters for a long time. The Synapse scratches that itch nicely.

It's good, but it would be nice if it had some kind of AOE or chaining effect to differentiate it from Flux (and/or potentially Ignis if it had plain AOE). It's really fun to use, and I'm not looking forward to any potential nerfs.

it red-crits thru electric shield for over 2000 on corpus with no mods except hammer shot & vital sense.

gives volt a reason to exist other than irritate me with that damn forced FOV change.

makes me wish ammo boxes were back / team large ammo restores were in

i love the current beam... it would be great if it could have a "bounce effect" on targets behind the first one (dmg halved or something) in a small radius (5m max?) and an overall range increased from 24m to 30m
