Overcomplicated, Bane of Warframe

Recommended Posts

ok, try to explain railjack to a friend who does not follow all DE's streams. yeah, good luck

reading patch notes of latest update was always pleasant experience for me, but not this time

it was so cumbersome, so boring, so uninspiring

and so f broken!

I do think this is worst update ever

Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions about an update, but what?

Cumbersome? Sure, I guess, although another way to interpret that is depth. I can understand this though.

But boring? Huh, how is this boring? This requires probably the most mental gymnastics any piece of Warframe content has ever asked.

And uninspiring? Da fudge? I don't know if I have ever seen a more inspired update to any game. Say what you will about the quality but the inspiration is something to taken aback by.

I mean... Warframe itself is notoriously complicated, is it not? Explaining the details of modding, ranks and whatnot.

This is the same thing, but everyone's starting from the same level of literal experience. Each individual part is still pretty simple and easy to understand, so I'm sure given more than 24 hours people will be able to understand it perfectly fine.

I agree.

Though it will likely take 3+ weeks for people to actually provide advice instead of just saying "Figure it out 4head".

Most games require you to give them your time to get experienced and/or progress through the systems before you're capable of greater challenges. That's kind of a core part of most game's experiences...

yeah and some games also gives you some fun and rewards, not meaningless grind for a sake of grind and tons of bugs

I jumped right into my Railjack into a free roam, figured out how to fly, how to navigate my ship, and how to aim. It is slow, it is clunky, but that makes sense. She may be called an Interceptor, but we're definitely a ship that is designed to fight all ranges of ships, including capital ships. We're not going to be as mobile as a fighter would be. Railjack is something for a team to work on. Until Command comes that is. Which we need fast.

What did you find complicated about it though?

I am not that confused by most of it the only still figuring out the intrinsics system because there are things like "Warframe abilities can be deployed as tactical support." and I am like "annnnnnd what does that even mean?" because you can use abilities on the railjack anyway. So basically the tool tips are meh and kinda nonsensical. But yeah just some of the intrinsics are worded weirdly and replenish-able armaments are the only two things I have an issue with atm mostly because its squad lead based so eventually thats going to gut squad lead resources over time because it will have a cumulative effect which will over time destroy players resource pools and thus nobody will want to use their own railjack half the time lol

Worst update ever, forcing to coop playing by any means. it's disgusting

But....its a coop game...."forcing to coop" ... thats warframes bread and butter. Yeah... you can run a survival alone or whatever but generally speaking its best to run in a squad i.e COOP. I get people like playing solo but why is it such a huge problem? Its new people will mess about and figure stuff out and so forth. Just bite your lip until the command intrinsic module comes out because then you can solo all you want.

and before someone is like "BuH iT ShOuLd oF BeEN ReLeAsEd wiTH iT!" ... come on.. really? like there are many things in games that just simply have to come later sometimes you dont have the choice of delaying something sometimes you have to throw it out there even if its not 100% complete thats just the way business works at least these days especially in the gaming industry.

can you you explain why?

I find having a distinct role much more fun than flailing around somewhat randomly, and the extra elements of true 3D with enemies makes trying to shoot them more interesting IMO. I'm also enjoying being threatened, whilst still being able to do something serious about it.

In terms of rewards... we've got a whole new set of abilities to unlock, along with new weapons and mods to find and more. What's not rewarding about being able to set ones sights on a goal and progress towards it?

AVIONICS:
This is where you can really boost your Railjack's core functionality - AVIONICS attribute to your Railjack's overall performance and destructive capabilities!

All Players will be provided 3 complimentary Avionics to give them a head start on outfitting their Railjacks:
Bulkhead - Increases your Railjack’s Hull!
Hyperstrike - Increases all Turret Damage!
Hull Weave - Increases your Railjack’s Armor!

The AVIONICS screen is split into numerous sections:

STATISTICS: Shows the accumulated stats for the Railjack after all the Avionics, Components, and Armaments are installed.

BATTLE: Onboard systems, unique to the Railjack. These work like Warframe Abilities, but are Railjack specific.

INTEGRATED: Passive stat increased for the Railjacks weapons, shields, and more.

TACTICAL: Real time utility Avionics for heated battle decisions.

UPGRADING
Just like Modding anything in Warframe, Railjack has an Avionics Capacity, which represents the space available to add Avionics. By using Dirac, the currency gained from SCRAPPING or completing Railjack missions, you can Upgrade in AVIONICS for 2 purposes:

  1. GRID: The slots which Avionics are placed. Each GRID can be Upgraded with Dirac to a max of 3 times, thus being able to hold stronger Avionics.
  2. AVIONICS: Avionics themselves can also be Upgraded by using Dirac. Similar to the Mods you know now: the higher the upgrade, the higher cost to equip it in your GRID.

HOUSES

Meet House Lavan, makers of Railjack technology from the Old War. Specializing in engines and shields, House Lavan focused on delivering rock-solid technology at a lower resource cost. Their components were the backbone of the Orokin fleet but lacked the customization required by elite units.

Meet House Vidar, makers of Railjack technology from the Old War. House Vidar were material specialists that made a name for themselves with the shrewd balancing of performance and cost. The ability of their hull and armor components to withstand extreme elements earned them the loyalty of specialized units.

Meet House Zetki, makers of Railjack technology from the Old War. House Zetki's components were considered the best of the best. However, their exorbitant resource and energy requirements meant that only the fleet's most important vessels could be outfitted with Zetki technology.

There are different Houses of Railjack COMPONENTS, ARMAMENTS, and AVIONICS (Lavan, Vidar, and Zetki) that offer different strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to further customize your Railjack upgrading experience. Many of the same Avionics exist across the Houses. For example, you will find 3 different versions of the Avionic ‘ANODE CELL’ - a Lavan version, a Vidar version, and a Zetki version.

SCRAPPING can also be done to your Avionics for more Dirac.

New Railjack Damage & Status Effect Types:
Throughout the COMPONENTS, ARMAMENTS, and AVIONICS options you’ll notice new Damage & Status Effect types. These new Damage & Status Effect types are unique to Railjack’s escalated combat space - things get crazy out in space!

  • Particle Damage results in a Tear Status Effect:
    • Tears holes into the hull of the enemy ship. Allowing players to deal increased damage.
  • Ballistic Damage results in a Concuss Status Effect:
    • Concuss the crew aboard the ship. Enemy has reduced aim and damage.
  • Plasma Damage results in a Decompress Status Effect:
    • Puncture holes into the armor/shields of the enemy ship. Decreasing the overall shield/armour value.

  • Incendiary Damage results in a Sear Status Effect:
    • Rounds burn through the hull of the ship dealing Damage Over Time.
  • Ionic Damage results in a Scramble Status Effect:
    • Temporary disable the enemies flight controls.
  • Chem Damage results in a Intoxicate Status Effect:
    • Confuses Enemy pilot. Enemy will target anyone around them.
  • Frost Damage results in an Immobilize Status Effect:
    • Ship controls freeze causing the enemy ship to fly forward to a stop.

PAYLOAD:
Prepare for your mission at hand by stocking up in the Dry Dock! By consuming specific Resources you can craft the following in advance:

Revolite
The Omni gear item requires Revolite to carry out repairs on your Railjack as you take damage in battle.

Flux Energy
Battle and Tactical Avionics use Flux Energy.

Dome Charge
Dome charges are consumed by Forward Artillery.

Munitions
Munitions are required to launch Ordnance.

These items can also be crafted in your Railjack in the heat of battle as you collect Resources in realtime (explained below under RESOURCE FORGE), so don’t worry if your Resource wallet is a bit dry before you take flight.

INTRINSICS:
This skill point based system is your personal home base for core progression aboard your Railjack! Intrinsics determine how efficient and effective your personal skills are when in flight, from the artillery you can equip, your Railjack maneuvering skills, and much more! Each Intrinsic has a max rank of 10, with each rank granting a better boost towards its respective Intrinsic. As the Intrinsic rank grows, so does the cost at which it requires to be ranked up!

Each Intrinsic Point Spent earns you 1,500 Mastery. If you complete 10 ranks in a given Intrinsic, that will be 15,000 Mastery. Months from now, if you complete 10 ranks in every Intrinsic, that will be 60,000 Mastery!

Earning: Intrinsics are earned by completing Railjack missions, and by performing actions to aid in the success of the mission: repairs, boarding party combat, etc.

Spending: Intrinsics are a general skill currency that can be allocated to whichever Railjack skill you want. These can be boosted when you're back in your Dry Dock or in the Profile Menu screen back in your Orbiter.

TACTICAL
Increase your focus on the big picture of battle. Improved Tactical skills such as recalling back to the Railjack, powerful Tactical deployment abilities, and more.

PILOTING
Forge a bond with the vessel. Improved Pilot skills with Railjack maneuvers like Dodge and Drift, asteroid collision damage reduction, and more.

GUNNERY
Unlock the deadly power of your Arsenal. Improved Gunnery skills towards your Railjack’s weaponry, access to the Archwing Catapult, and more.

ENGINEERING
Mend the scars of battle and feed the war machine. Improved Engineering skills to bolster battle crafting yields, forge payload items in real time, and more.

COMMAND* 2020.
In an upcoming Empyrean expansion the Command Intrinsics will be available to increase the efficiency of your on-board Railjack crew.

*When the COMMAND Intrinsic launches in 2020, we will also offer a chance to rebalance your Intrinsic skills, thus refunding you all your spent Intrinsics to edit your skills however you please with the addition of COMMAND.

I still don't see whats complicated about anything there in the notes. Either you didn't want to read it and just posted it to say "hey look at all these words I dont wanna read but it looks complicated!" or you're legitimately confused about something specific because the only thing that isn't really fleshed out in the entire thing is the explanation of certain interactions via intrinsic levels.... thats it... I really dont understand how any of this is complicated lol

Avionics are mods and abilities.

I assume you know how mods work. Basically, Railjack abilities get slotted in like mods do.

Some avionics have different specs, being both power and mod cost. Think of it like a variant of a mod.

You can also dissolve avionics like mods.

Really, this is not that complicated when you boil it down. It seems complicated because you're learning it all at once.

A WARNING to players: Equipped avionics are not separated when you scrap, I lost my bulkhead avionics because of that... 😞
I tried all day to grind one back but they don't drop... I guess you can't trade avionics so that's a bummer.

I'm not displeased that they are adding a bunch of new content, but I am a bit displeased that the game experience has changed so much over time and it's actually kept me away from playing lately because it's just too annoying to keep up with.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I don't want to have to learn an entire new "thing" every update.  I just play to log in, kill stuff for a while, and log out.  Sure, I can still do this, but now everybody is rail jacking, Kuva Liching, Orb-whatever, Requim fissuring, zookeeping and who knows what else.  If you take a serious break for a month or two, catching up just becomes a chore.  This means that trying to get a good old ODD stomp going on gets harder and harder with each new thing added.

I miss the more simpler times when banging out 20-40 mindless waves of a T3D accompanied by some tunes and a good bottle of something was a viable way to kill some time with this game.  I have no interest in any of this new stuff, and it's diluting the pool of violent old dinosaurs like myself 😞

Totally agree.

But we are Avacados and Casuals now I suppose.

These last two updates are just layers to an onion which has no real heart. BY THAT, I mean the story.

The story is hostage now.

Play the content to it's fullest to get the story. All these new frames- No Story. Questing to get the story and the new frame parts was what really sunk me back into this FREE game. It is a brilliant game, both combat and beauty.

The story has kept me around. Waiting for the next juicy bit. Bit by bit I got less and less. Now, I have to grind for the story, instead of playing the story and then grinding.

The problem with that though is they need to keep players playing as well especially in a game which is built around grind. Yeah I get it you like the lore and such but in the end the story isn't the core of the game but rather built up from its core had they started with the story being a major feature well beyond the gameplay then you'd have a point but the sad truth is friend that this game is first and foremost a grind based cooperative experience there isn't any way around that. You're still getting the new war solo quest and some things in the duvari paradox update whenever that happens as we're all gonna "grow up" finally but at least you're still going to get the story anyway. I honestly would be like "ok.....not odd" if they just outright gave us a railjack for free with no effort, nothing about this game is effortless because RNG exists and crafting exists.
