As a long term vet, the RNG stats on new content is having the opposite of its intended effect, for me.

Maybe that's why I hated my Photor MK1. It was a Zetki, barely lasted 5 seconds (giggity). Definitely noticed a huge increase in heat build-up for the Zetki cannons that I have, and hate it muchly. I'm tempted now to use the dojo research version of the weapons, but that takes away resources from being able to repair better ones...

Yeah, all of the Zetki weapons have four times the heat build up in exchange for "not four times the DPS." They remind be a bit like the Atlas Augment which gives him only one larger Rumbler that's "not twice as good as the two smaller Rumblers." At present, I see no reason to ever bother with Zetki turrets for the Railjack unless you're REALLY good at landing precision shots and want an overspecialised weapon.

And honestly, I'd probably just build the Dojo Research items. You have infinite use of those guns (so you can mount turrets on the nose AND sides), they're cheaper to manufacture and they're about as good. With Railjack, Warframe has introduced the same issue The Division has always had. There's no point in optimising your built until you reach end-game because you're going to be replacing your gear pretty soon anyway. My goal right now - at least assuming Railjack is even playable for me - is to get some kind of cheap, half-way decent gear which will carry me to higher-level missions. Once I'm up to MkIII and won't realistically be replacing my cannons with higher-level versions, then I might consider spending the extra resources on a House build.

When you go with RNG loot and linear-upgrade item replacements, you end up fundamentally devaluing anything but top-level loot. If you go that route, then don't blame players for only caring about the highest-level stuff.

I did notice that MK1 and MK2 use different resources to repair and manufacture. So the idea might be they want you to transition from one to the other.

But I will agree that the different houses on the gear feels like fluff before reaching MK3. At least... beyond giving you a chance to experiment with the differences beforehand, but with how high the resource costs are, that's unlikely. I still feel like they just need to cut the repair costs by 90%, and then we'd actually have something interesting here, and the RNG loot wouldn't really be worth complaining about because of how easy it is to repair a new drop.

Also: Carcinnox is only 3 times the heat build-up, but the damage and accuracy increase still doesn't make up for that, imo as it's only 50% more damage than the fabricated version (and about twice the accuracy). I think I'll play with the Sigma (which is technically what the "no house" version is).

It looks like Vidar Apoc MK1 is the exact same as the Sigma, but... slightly more crit. Which is really not indicative of a good job with stat differences.

And, by the way, can't use the MK1 fabricated guns on both front and side placements at the same time. Still cheaper than repairing salvage, though, which speeds up my progression.

Yeah, stuff like that is why I say Warframe now feels like a phone game. You're expected to keep rolling the dice on RNG like you would in Diablo or The Division, but the cost of actually KEEPING any of that loot is so high you're never going to bother. At least, I can't. So far, I have a single MkI item - a Reactor - because that's the only thing I've had enough Pustrels to make. Well, I DO also have a MkI Zetki Apoc, but I repaired that with Plat. Which, when you get down to it, is the point. You get lots of loot, you can keep some of it if you grind really hard, but you're ultimately supposed to pay money to keep it. Again - genuinely compelling gameplay fundamentally undermined by monetisation.

Honestly, having to grind my ass off just to replace A SINGLE item from my starter gear is a farce and has a pretty high chance of spoiling my desire to bother.
