Nintenno Belt's Star Fleet Space Shanty

Aye, aye

Captain we sing

to the tunes of the sea

and the stars that we seek

Forward on

to the darkness of space

the adventure awaits

 us Warframes of fate

Sail strong

Tennos of yore

for this you are born

to fight Sentient Wars

Fear not

our Rail Jack is strong

with Amesha on board

like a boss we press on

Void to life

trough trials and strife

Space Ninjas for life

together we fight

Long live

the Belt we call home

like a fiery Sun

it shines for us all

Aye, aye

Captain we sing…

Here's my entry, with a bit of humor too so everyone have a good mood in mission XD

A Chant to lift us up

Shawzin tuned tenno, we shaw chant

A song born in the old war

A song born to lift us up

The mandachord shaw give us the ritmin

Into deep space our vessel dives

Resources scattered through the stars

Wreckage scattered through ruins

Our vessel shaw benefit from it

The waves from seven shooting stars

Carries us to the unknown

Carries us to infinity

Lands so far away that we never saw before

If a crewship tries to harm us

We will fly towards their hull

We will implode them from inside

Turning them into firework

Engines fully charged captain

Let's travel at light speed

Let's dodge those missiles

And spin till everyone is puking on the floor

Reactors polished and repaired

May we shoot a hundred black holes

May we shoot a thousand vortex

Till were out of energy

Shields at max capacity

So none can tear us apart

So none can lit us on fire

And if down, don't worry, in seconds it's back

Our hull the strongest of all

Those scratches will soon be healed

And fires put out by our best team

Wait a catastrophic failure?

Ei engineering team what’re you doing?

We admire wisp booty

We worship Nezha Empyrean booty

For clem sake not again, get back to work you brain stovers

I can see more enemies ahead

Tenno grab your weapons

And keep the omnis full

The void will guide us to victory

Aye aye captain, may the void protect us all

Firepit Song

Though I come from Venus and he’s from far Sedna,
We’re all of a kind when we sail the Void sea
And nights in a spaceport are frigid and lonely,
So why not warm this one with me, my boys,
Why not warm this one with me?

(chorus:)
So here's to the Lotus, and here's to our captains,
And here’s to the hull, and the engines that burn
We'll sail the blue Void 'til we're blown into stardust
And then to the Void we'll return, my boys,
Then to the Void we'll return

A toast to the firewalker, brave and relentless
She only says run if it’s that or say die
No Sentient can touch her - she’s pulled us all through them
And looked their dread prince in the eye, my boys,
And looked their dread prince in the eye

(chorus)

A toast to the eldest, the king of the blizzard,
Protector and Prisma-smith, power and skill
They’ll pilot you right, though the shrapnel be flying,
And swoop steady-eyed for the kill, my boys,
And swoop steady-eyed for the kill

(chorus)

A toast to the one who drops fire on boarders -
You think all is lost, then she fixes it fine
And her voice in your head says “don’t worry, look onward,
I swear I won’t leave you behind, my boys,
I swear I won’t leave you behind”

(chorus)

---

This is just one variant of the Firepit Song, so named because it's frequently sung by members of different Railjack crews around a cookstove or small fire. They're the only people who'd be crazy or desperate enough to crew a Tenno ship - in other words, they're mechanics and rail agents already on the run from the Grineer or the Corpus, or itinerant civilians with a handful of shipboard skills and nothing left to lose. Get-togethers like these are a valuable chance for crewmen to relax, catch up with old acquaintances, make some new ones, and brag about the impressive exploits of the Tenno they've been serving under; the latter is the purpose of the Firepit Song, besides singing just being a fun pastime. The particular Tenno mentioned in this version are mine and my clanmates': they belong to laurelwisp (the swashbuckling Madurai who mains Nezha in Railjack), Buraidragon (the Unairu/Frost main who serves as both the pilot and the "oldest sibling" of the group), and myself (the Ember Railjack-main and frequent engineer with some...unique...Naramon skills).

As many others seem to have done, I took some inspiration from the Assassins Creed shanties, in particular Leave Her, Johnny.

I wrote my shanty with the intention of it being a slightly slower paced song (similar to Leave Her, Johnny) than some of the more popular or more widely known shanties, almost as more of an ode to the subject of the song. I tried to include a few little references along the way, I hope anyone who reads it enjoys it and has a good day!

Early Lunch For Konzu

With a mighty stick held to the ground
And handsome robes of white and brown
This wise old man lights up the town
It's early lunch for Konzu!

Early lunch for Konzu!
Oh, early lunch for Konzu!
With his lack of hair
And his heartthrob stare
Oh, it's early lunch for Konzu!

As he helped to mend an old friend's heart
Repairing the past looked like an art
Two dear old mates make a new start
It's early lunch for Konzu!

Early lunch for Konzu!
Oh, early lunch for Konzu!
With his lack of hair
And his heartthrob stare
Oh, it's early lunch for Konzu!

When the Plague Star fell and the mothers cried
Steel soldiers helped Cetus survive
There's man home waiting, full of pride
It's early lunch for Konzu!

Early lunch for Konzu!
Oh, early lunch for Konzu!
With his lack of hair
And his heartthrob stare
Oh, it's early lunch for Konzu!

Rumbling footsteps in the night
You can't sleep now, monsters nearby
Here comes a man who'll stay and fight
It's early lunch for Konzu!

Early lunch for Konzu!
Oh, early lunch for Konzu!
With his lack of hair
And his heartthrob stare
Oh, it's early lunch for Konzu!

When Warframe's gone, Tenno sleep once more
In a final glance to times of yore
There's a man who we'll always adore
It's early lunch for Konzu!

Oooh, it's early lunch for Konzu!

A Shanty for SpaceMom

We had slept for an age

Whispered tales in the dark

We awoke to her call

And attacked on her mark

We remembered ourselves

Lost her warm guiding light

Choose your frame

Choose your arm

Choose your fight

We are spread through the stars

As we search for her still

Facing foes one and all

Left unsure of her will

Roaming tundra by day

Hunting beasts in the night

Choose your frame

Choose your arm

Choose your fight

Tenno-kind, stay awake

This is what we all are

No more sleep, no more dreams

We won’t watch from afar

For the Lotus we’ve come

Let the fires ignite

Choose your frame

Choose your arm

Choose your fight

Through the void, to the stars

Hear the call, Tenno-kind

For Natah, for us all

Be of one Tenno mind

Be it rescue or war

We’ll at last reunite

Choose your frame

Choose your arm

Choose your fight

Tune is borrowed from the song “Two-Edge: Troll Hall” from A Wolfrider’s Reflections (Julia Ecklar & Catherine Cook)

The queens in their thrones wanna divide and conquer,
Hey-ho Tenno,

drop fire on their lair.

Ô mighty crew,
Fly the unknown,
Tear down the guardians,
And battle the clones.

The  sentients invade us from their dark part of space,
Hey-ho Tenno,

send the bastards to their place.

Ô mighty crew,
Fly the unknown,
Tear down the lurkers,
And battle the drone.

Everywhere souls suffer from the infested plague,
Hey-ho tenno,

do not wait that they beg.

Ô mighty crew,
Fly the unknown,
Erase contagion,
And purge them from our home.

Travel the stars in your battle relics,

Protect the orphans and shelter the sick,

Maybe we're few, and we can't save them all

But we must try, 'cause wa are the last wall.

The dark and cold, it calls us
The high winds at our back
The ship's afire with starlight
We fly into the black

Hey, ho, to the stars we go
There's to see than you'll ever know
Try and catch us, you'll come up slack,
All you'll see is our afterglow.

The high skies are our homeland,
We guard 'em from attack,
The Sentients come a-calling,
And we will throw' em back.

No Grineer hordes can break us,
No Corpus Razorback,
Infested scum we burn away
They can't stop our Railjack!

Hey, ho, to the stars we go
There's to see than you'll ever know
Try and catch us, you'll come up slack,
All you'll see is our afterglow!

Tempo is based off of 'Don't Forget Your Old Shipmate' and oddly enough this song is called 'Don't Forget to Loot the Crates' :clem:

Blown up Grineer once again with our trusty Rail-jack,
Blown up Grineer once again with our trusty Rail-jack,
No longer will we be afraid of any Grineer scraps,
Don’t forget to loot the crates,
Batta Batta Batta Vom-Val-yst.

Since we flown from the drydock,
Searching for that the elusive Dirac,
Long have we gone without a drop,
We need more Kavats for goodluck,

Blown up Grineer once again with our trusty Rail-jack,
No longer will we be afraid of any Grineer scraps,
Don’t forget to loot the crates,
Batta Batta Batta Vom-Val-yst.

Once again we find ourselves,
Dancing in the space above,
Soaring past Grineer wrecks,
How long its been since we’ve wrung their necks,

Blown up Grineer once again with our trusty Rail-jack,
No longer will we be afraid of any Grineer scraps,
Don’t forget to loot the crates,
Batta Batta Batta Vom-Val-yst.

Our goal in sight too true to be found,
A sentinel ship, with loot abound,
With a party abound and our trusty Paracesis,
We will cut them all into small pieces,

Blown up Grineer once again with our trusty Rail-jack,
No longer will we be afraid of any Grineer scraps,
Don’t forget to loot the crates,
Batta Batta Batta Vom-Val-yst.

Blown up Grineer once again with our trusty Rail-jack,
No longer will we be afraid of any Grineer scraps,
Don’t forget to loot the crates,
Batta Batta Batta Vom-Val-yst.

Note: Forgive me for this, but I was going to edit my shanty and I couldn't find the message I sent in the post, so to make sure if it was deleted I send it again

On boarding!

My friends take your guns

Those little bugs will cry when my feet touch their ships

The leader of the PHARM calls you so listen to what this murderer is talking about

In my crew the power is not scarce if my two gunners are on the right and left!

Yup!

Cy warns me that in the distance an asteroid blocks us, I will leave it empty

I get off for a while, dodge missiles daily, until I get to that horrible base, my nikana unsheathed and I think they run then I let my swordsman qualities to show

Ho Ho they beg us "please" we don't doubt and we will kill

They tell us murderers, is Real that? we are tenno looking for someone who betrayed us and who joined the crab people

Maybe revenge is what we seek

But we are the hope of the people, the saviors of the innocent, we can't be the bad guys

Can't we have an imminent rest?

I don't know the answer, but I only know that I will end Natah and his contest

It has happened, we get to the red spot! Our experience makes us know that this will be a sport! but wait

What is that thing !? it's not a grineer ship I don't know what happens there, but I'm glad I only know that with my comrades by my side inside the anomaly there will be a new war!

Inspiration caught me late. Less of a shanty and more of an ode I guess.

"The Lotus-Sent", (Modified Cetus Fishing Song)

Swazdo-Lah Tenno friends!

How good to see you back

What stories to be told, what loot in your hold;

Of your fair Railjack?

-

Stop a bit to trade, surah!

We are simply overjoyed

From sea to the hills, the tales told by the Quills

About heroes in the void

-

(Chorus)

Bravely soar onward, upward! Fly forth, you Lotus-Sent

'Gainst who mean to doom us all, Grineer and Sentient

Doh-ga my friend, our deal is done, there's foes left to fight

Your deeds writ large for all to see, upon the endless night

-

May your arms never tire

Of blowing to smithereens

Any Grineer fool,  who sought to expand their rule

Servile to unseen Queens

-

May your hearts be merry

Steadfast to the core

Eidolons of night, alien engines of fright

Remnants of the ancient war

(Chorus)

May your weapons be faithful,

your blades never dry;

Guns to chatter and beat, never knowing defeat

Clearing a hateful sky

-

May your hull be sturdy

So I may welcome back

Heroes to my stall, ones fighting for all

Brave crews of your Railjack!

This was really fun to write. I'm no poet, but I think it turned out well.

In the days of the Orokin, gold and yore,
We sailed upon this Void-cold shore

We charge once more into the fray,
Dodging waves of bullets and shrapnel spray

Put vessel to gear, to combat we fly,
Today won't be the day we die

Awoken from our frozen rest,
We'll overcome every test

Speeding trails on metal wings,
The cannons roar and engine sings

And when we're done we'll own the sky,
Today won't be the day we die

When they come knocking at our door
We respond with might a thousand more

We've brought our wrath, your end is near,
Our song will be the last thing you hear

Four noble Tenno and Cephalon Cy
Today won't be the day we die!

This is so, so bad. Enjoy.

Tales we are telling

Legends to be weaving

Mother We are mourning

Enemies we're Slaughtering

We come for you at morning!

Greinner Queens are breeding

Calling for a killing

Give ‘em both a beating

Send there kingdom crumbling

They'll Lose their heads tonight! (Hurrah!)

Corpus drones are buying

Stock price is soaring

People going missing

Can’t keep them trading

Time to burst that index bubble boys!

Infestations Spreading

Parasite is fleeing

Time for a cleansing

Let set them sailing

Knock them out the sky, and back to the void!

Sentient’s are rising

Dragged back from dying

A new war is looming

Dark days descending

We’ll show them what we’re made of!

Inspired by old calling and answering songs: they shouted commands/questions over the deck and crew answered.

..I had a wild mixture in mind, designing it: Jack Sparrow films scene: where a lot of people have to walk to the gallows and they start singing; a Sabbaon song with calls/murmur sounds and the only „sea related songs“ I know: What shall we do – my thought was: Oh, please don't; and another one that didn't fit either but had the calling/answering inside. And yes, I tried to sing it - to see if lyrics fit. I am not a song writer at all  XD.

It is a song they might sing boarding the railjack. Actually it is not so boring on a railjack as it had been on old sailing ships. Often you don't even have the time to call to someone „I will do xy“.

Lore state: Tenno got the paracesis.

Tone I had in mind was a mixture of grim and bold.

We fight for you

He ho, here we go! (heeehhh, hoooh long; sound going down)

Caller (C): Tell me who you are? (end going up)

He ho, here we go!

Answer (A): We are Tenno of old war.

He ho, here we go!

A: Forgotten we may be.

He ho, here we go.

A: She made them hate us as they see!

He ho, here we go!

C : Mother gone, now all alone! (desperate)

He ho, here we go!

A: Sentinents come, we arn' gone! (grim)

He ho, here we go!

C . What do sentinents wan'?

He ho, here we go!

A: They bring war, want all gon'!

He ho, here we go!

C :What's with teck-men and Grenier?

He ho here we go!

A: All humans gone, once they ar' here!

He ho, here we go!

C :For all we fight, you see?

He ho, here we go!

A: They still hate us once they see!

He ho here we go!

All: Tenno we may be!

He ho here we go!

All: We fight for you, you'll see!

He ho here we go!

All: Tenno we may be!

He ho here we go!

All: We fight for you, you'll see!

Let the solar winds sail
Orokin Compass to guide your path
while I tell you a tale
of a Grineer soldiers path

He was green and misshapen
eyes like scarabs of gold
cloned and conditioned
had no memories of home

The solider was not unlike you or me
dreamed of a place simply to be
at peace and alone, away from the screams
far off in the reaches of the vast galaxy

This solider only new war
a sliver of hope, aye, but a glean
of one day becoming
something unseen

but this ill fated lad, equipped with only a dream
had to serve his masters, lived to obey the queens
ready and willing, he took to the skies
piloted an outrider craft, fated to die

with a Tenno ship, far off in the distance
this final hour, He knew in this instance
there was no other way
onward he pushed, seldom chance of glory that day

In a blaze he went down
Tenno gunner triumphant
The Grinner slipped from this life
finally taken away from his strife

His last thoughts fading, light in his eyes all but ceased
Never good nor the best, not above the rest
finally, peace. Tenno, lay me to rest

[Verse 1]

The smartest skipper you can find is

Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?

She's the fastest girl in the Zekti Line

Clean up the deck an' let the engine run!

[Chorus]

To me, hey this gun it loves to freeze

Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?

With friends like these, I’m easy to please

Release the clamps an' let the engine run!

[Verse 2]

O, we're outward bound for the unknown

Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?

Away from the mother that we’ve outgrown

Wake the pilot an' let the engine run!

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]

Ah, and when we're o’er in Cetus Town

Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?

We'll dance them Ostron girls around!

Clean up the galley an' let the engine run!

[Chorus]

[Verse 4]

Oh! the fastest girl in the Zekti Line

Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?

She’s always a day ahead of her time!

Clean up the guns an' let the engine run!

[Chorus]

[Verse 5]

O, and when we're back in Fortuna

Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?

We’ve got the credits, Hallelujah!

Pay the debt to' let the engine run!

[Chorus]

[Verse 6]

Oh, one more mission and that will do!

Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?

For we're the squad to pull her through!

Plot the course an' let the engine run!

Grab your gun and brandish your blade

Turn your sight towards the next crusade

For the slumber that shrouds us is ending at last

And we all awaken as one!

All aboard the railjack, our cephalon awaits

Ready to seek out the edges of space

With the void at our backs we sail into the black

And we’re all adrift as one!

Past Mercury, Venus, the Earth, so blue

Mars, Ceres, and Jupiter too

By the rings of Saturn the Grineer gather

So we all fight as one!

With bullet and steel and indomitable will

Against an insurmountable foe we flourish our skill

Their galleons break, bleed into stars

And we all revel as one!

So break out your shawzins and strike up a song

May the Smiles of Juran hurry us along

For the veil we approach holds a terror so true

That we all hold vigil as one!

There at the fringe of the world that we know

A monstrosity we sight, sentience in flesh and bone

The alarms trumpet and off we go

Our ancient adversary greets as one!

In a fury and frenzy they cleave through our shields

Our reprisal is this, by our ancestors they’ll yield

Into the maw of the largest, that fiend, we fly

And we all go down as one!

In the style of a traditional sea shanty. I also tried to cover subject matters sailors would have covered, or the best analogs I could find. The first line would typically be sung by one Tenno taking the lead and choosing the verse, and the whole crew joins in from there. Loud, and doesn't have to be pretty. Mostly a capella or with a shawzin keeping everyone on key. But there'd be a recurring melody following a chord progression over the first three lines (I have one in mind, but it's not the point here) and a refrain common to each verse with minor differences to suit. Often tongue-in-cheek if not irreverent, and improvisation of lyrics is encouraged within the form. So groups would naturally develop their own verses complete with wordplay and insider jokes. But here are six stanzas on the recent trials of the Tenno (218 words total).

We dash and we dance and we shank us some thralls,
Now we dash and we dance and we shank us some thralls,
Oh, we dash and we dance and we shank us some thralls,
Then a rap-tap-tap on our thin tin skulls.

We pause to observe a new call in the void,
Now we pause to observe a new call in the void,
Oh, we pause to observe a new call in the void,
While they rap-tap-tap on our thin tin skulls.

We are gone to accumulate more minerals,
Now we’re gone to accumulate more minerals,
Oh – gone to accumulate more minerals,
Still they rap-tap-tap on our thin tin skulls.

Trespassers now, we corsairs ride the void,
Impure trespassers now, we corsairs in the void,
Oh, trespassing now, we corsairs ride the void,
Mind the rap-tap-tap in our thin tin hulls.

It’s hushed and it’s empty, but we hold fast still,
Now it's hushed and it's empty, but we hold fast still,
Oh, it’s hushed and it’s empty, but we hold fast still,
By the rap-tap-tap in our thin tin hulls.

We wait for the day our void mother calls,
Now we wait for the day our void mother calls,
Oh, we long for the day our void mother calls,
In the rap-tap-tap in our thin tin hulls.

(never wrote a shanty before but I sure did give it my best shot!)

Scallywags of the Void

-

Ai-yo, Tenno, all together now!

Rev the jackship and load the forges

For we’ve got fighters inbound and lasers to spare!

The solar winds on our tail guide us through the starry sea

Since Earth’s oceans ain’t enough like they used to be

Ai-yo!

Patch that breach, extinguish the blazes

Teach the boarding fools a lesson in manners

Man the turrets, board the slingshot!

We got ‘em on the run now, lads, make sure they know they’re beat!

Ai-yo!

Remember what you fight for, mind the pitfalls around them

Grasp what you can find and don’t let go

The gulfs of space will rip away what you love if you’re not careful

Keep your soul kind and your mind steeled

‘Cuz all we got for sanity is this makeshift flow

Ai-yo!

Now take these six foot swords and carve your name in their galleons

Leave your mark in their ranks

Aye, we’re scrawny and young and fightin’ wars born from old

But when has youth ever not been in battle with generations gone?

Ai-yo!

Ride the Jack and roll with her ruptures

We count on her as much as she does us

‘Less you want a date with the endless waves of space

Buckle down and fight ‘til you’ve become legend!

Onwards through the Proxies!

Ai-yo!

Onwards to the future!

Ai-yo! Ai-yo!

Onwards to victory!

Ai-yo! Ai-yo! Ai-yo!

My entry: "Leave her, Tenno." (a parody of "leave her, Johnny," about the Lotus)

----

I thought I heard the old Dax say

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

You must stay true to the Tenno way

And it's time for us to leave her!

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

Oh, leave her, Tenno, leave her!

For tomorrow's dawn comes a new war's fray

And it's time for us to leave her!

Through the dimming light of a mother's love

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

There were clashing rocks and a fallen dove

And it's time for us to leave her!

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

Oh, leave her, Tenno, leave her!

For tomorrow's dawn comes a new war's fray

And it's time for us to leave her!

Though the flowers bloom on the trees of May

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

We must peer through to the birds of prey

And it's time for us to leave her!

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

Oh, leave her, Tenno, leave her!

For tomorrow's dawn comes a new war's fray

And it's time for us to leave her!

We swore to protect from the wicked horde

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

So we stand our ground with a wary sword

And it's time for us to leave her!

Leave her, Tenno, leave her!

Oh, leave her, Tenno, leave her!

For tomorrow's dawn comes a new war's fray

And it's time for us to leave her!

Zitat

Up to the skies,
up to the skies,
facing the stars,
facing the stars

We came,
straight from the hell of the void plane
golden-black-white, as we bring shame
to the Armada of Queens

SET,
LOAD!

We steer,
land, under sea, up in skies clear
trailing in space that we hold dear
carving a place of our own

AIM,
FIRE!

Roaming as Railjacks set forth
from drydocks, with only one oath:

No matter, how many Grineer on Ramsleds
The Tenno, have none of their equal on decks
AS THE SKY RAINS,
WRECK AFTER WRECK TO THE GROUND

First Kosma, then Exo and Gyre strike sails
No quarter is given 'till their engine fails
PUSHING FORWARD,
TREASURE OF KUVA AWAITS

Boarding their ships!
let out a roar!
Give 'em a taste of what we're fighting for!

I just basically saw this contest today. damnit.

Now we are ready to head to the vail
Weigh, hey , jump and go!
Our fish and our whale are all in the pawn
To be grinded and Blasted in the void hole!

The red sea full of pirates boarding our deck
Weigh, hey, kill them all!
Harpun all those snail ships to give us reward
We want those reactors, G-point will be stole!

had to serve his masters, lived to obey the queens
ready and willing, he took to the skies
piloted an outrider craft, fated to die

with a Tenno ship, far off in the distance
this final hour, He knew in this instance
there was no other way
onward he pushed, seldom chance of glory that day

In a blaze he went down
Tenno gunner triumphant
The Grinner slipped from this life
finally taken away from his strife

His last thoughts fading, light in his eyes all but ceased
Never good nor the best, not above the rest
finally, peace. Tenno, lay me to rest

I can't stress enough how much we loved reading your space shanties. We had to take an extra week to choose the winners because there were so many amazing submissions! There was no way we could choose just five winners, so we decided to choose 10 lyrics winners and 5 recording winners instead. Your talent and creativity are a delight. Thank you all!

The Space Shanty Contest winners were announced on Prime Time #278! You can watch the full reveal here:

Here are the official winner lists!
