Firetempest
Remember bird flu, swine flu, Ebola, SARS outbreaks? Quick quarantine of travelers, public awareness and it fades away.
o0Despair0o
What kind of question is this? As long as nobody at DE gets infected and sneezes on everybody, nothing's gonna happen.
KnossosTNC
Not a whole lot. I'm sure people will take precautions and be a bit more vigilant, and that should be enough. All signs are this outbreak is less deadly, less contagious, and the world is better prepared for it than the SARS outbreak. China itself has learned a lot of lessons from that - though let's just say they didn't learn every lesson and certain old habits die hard. That said, they did immediately notify the WHO, sequenced the virus's RNA and shared it with everyone, and that's the best thing they did for the rest of the world. We should therefore be okay. Loza03
AFAIK, it has a 3% mortality rate, and, all things considered, a very slow spread rate. It just spread so fast in China because, well, CHINA. Massive overcrowding and awful pollution. Perfect for the spread of an infection.

But yeah, judging from how few cases there has been outside of China, the virulence doesn't seem that high, at least during the incubation phase. Time will tell. It's certainly a serious problem, but not the apocalyptic threat some would bill it as. For reference, the Spanish Flu had a mortality rate of 20%, the Black death had 50%, and Ebola a whopping 90%. And as you say, not everyone would even manifest severe symptoms for this disease.

The hemorrhagic smallpox variant was almost invariably fatal but the most common type had 30% fatality rate. Could still leave you with some nasty scars and other lifelong symptoms, though. TearsOfTomorrow
As I always say whenever a new virus emerges: if ebola, a true "death sentence" kind of malady, didn't manage to wipe out humanity, this won't either.

GrayArchon
Canada is a massive country with a much lower population density than China, and with a robust public health infrastructure. I'm sure they'll be fine.
