(Switch) New Motion Controls Option and Default Binding Change

Recommended Posts

With the launch of the first version of Railjack motion controls in Update 27.1.0, we implemented a new binding option that was missed in the Update notes (and also pretty well hidden within the guts of the Options menu). So, we want to formally inform our avid motion-control-using Nintendo Switch Tenno that the “Reset Motion Controls” binding option does currently exist, but also that it will be part of an important default binding change coming with the next Cert update.

“Reset Motion Controls”

This new binding option allows you to reset motion controls to their 0 position, bringing them back to the centre of your screen without you needing to toggle motion controls on and off.

The option to Reset Motion Controls is in the current live build under the title [PH] Re-Center Crosshair. You can make use of this option now by following Options > Controls > Customize Controller > Railjack > [PH] Re-Center Crosshair

Default Binding Change

Throughout our first pass on Railjack motion controls, we received feedback about how important they are to Tenno on Nintendo Switch. Motion controls have become central to moving and aiming not only in Railjack but in other game modes. We want our default controls to reflect that!

The Right D-Pad currently cycles your Warframe Abilities by default. After the next Cert update, the Right D-Pad will instead Reset Motion Controls by default. Once part of the default bindings, “Reset Motion Controls” will also be moved from Railjack to General Controls.

Of course, Tenno who preferred the Right D-Pad cycling Warframe Abilities will be able to revert this change by following Options > Controls > Customize Controller

As always, you can expect an update status thread here when the update including this change is in Cert! We’ll keep you posted there.

I am aware of this binding option, however when i have both Motion Controls Steer Railjack and Motion Control enabled (which makes the crosshair stay in the middle of the screen while piloting/shooting in Raijack), toggling this does nothing as my crosshair is already in the middle. Can DE fix this?

That's very convenient, however where else can we cycle our abilities after the change? The Switch doesn't have enough buttons to house 5 abilities at once.

Thanks for the info. That being said, will you be adding tennogen catch-up bundles for the switch in that next update?

I mentioned this to our team since they've been taking a look at what might be causing some motion control issues while piloting. It seems there are cases where using directional inputs instead of face buttons prevents the reset from working. They'll be working on a fix going into the next Cert update!

I hope we can rebind the ability menu from R while in railjack to something else since my right bumper is bad to use.
