Differences in mk3 railjack weapon houses

Zetki is the most common. Has an innate 25% bonus dmg (except cryophon that has 50%) and usually has more Crit or status or both depending on the weapon. Also all zetki weapons overheat faster to compensate for their innate dmg bonus. All zetki weapons can roll a fire rate bonus (except photor, that can roll even more dmg on top of what it has innately)

Vidar is pretty much better than zetki in every way IF and that's a big IF you get the bonus dmg stat on it to be above 25% max is 30 (above 50% for the cryophon max is 60) so that way you can out damage the zetki variant and do it for half the heat accretion meaning you can fire even more shots and out DPS the zetki stuff even more. One exception to this rule is the photor for the reason stated above in the zetki portion of the explanation. Vidar usually has the same CC but lower status than zetki but crit is king for railjack weapons anyway (status is for archwing guns)

And lavan is just trash. I mean they generally have more status but they can't roll extra dmg, like vidar can to at least match zetki .

both vidar and lavan MK3 weapons drop exclusively from crewships thus making them harder to find (elite crewships and all outrider variants all drop zetki stuff)

 

In conclusion if you don't want to farm much go for a zetki gun of your liking. if you want to min-max try finding a vidar variant with the appropriate bonus dmg roll

Zetki is common, and offers higher damage and time to kill thanks to primarily innate firerate bonuses, at the expense of some quality of life stuff, mainly uptime. They fire faster, but unlike Lavan weapons which have the same bonus, each shot also accretes twice as much heat as any other. This means that whilst you fire fast, and kill fast, you also aren't shooting for long. This can be compensated for, but at the end of the day, they are less consistent than the other houses. They also have great status.

Vidar offers more crit and innate damage bonuses on its rolls, unlike the other two houses which offer firerate bonuses. This can allow for higher numbers than Zetki and the normal heat accretion lets them be more consistent, but bear in mind that they have reduced status, which depending on the weapon can impact overall damage potential based on damage types and behaviour - for example, the Cryrophon might not care a lot due to being a slow-fire big hitter, but the Apoc definitely will suffer.

Lavan is basically Vidar, but for Status weapons. It has good status, but without Zetki's extra up and downsides. Roll type nonwithstanding.

 

Which school js best overall will likely change as more weapons get added.

Turrets

Note that the same instance of a turret cannot be equipped to the nose and wing slots at the same time; two instances are necessary. Exceptions to this rule are the starter Apoc and Pulsar turrets, which require only one instance to be applicable to both slots.

Stat Variations and Bonuses

Turret stats follow the same pattern between Houses within the same generation, i.e. compared to the Sigma variant:

  • Lavan variant has same damage, 1.4x Status Chance, and increased accuracy
  • Vidar variant has same damage, 1.4x Critical Chance, and reduced accuracy
  • Zetki variant has 1.5x damage with 1.5x Critical Chance and/or Status Chance and increased accuracy at the cost of increased Heat Accretion (x2 for most of them)

Accuracy values of 100% are unchanged between Houses.
Critical Chance: Apoc; Status Chance: Carcinnox, Cryophon, Pulsar; both: Photor.
Note: some Turret stats shown below and in-game may differ from these trends, but these are likely UI errors.

Recovered Mk II and Mk III Turret Wreckages will come with an additional random stat bonus in either Fire Rate or Damage. All turrets of the same generation and House will have the same type of bonus, only the numeric value is randomized. These bonus stats are listed within each individual armament table below.

 

Apoc

Rapid-fire autocannon: launches high-velocity projectiles, puncturing and shredding the armor of enemy ships.

Apoc fires fully-automatic projectiles that deal primarily Plasma damage and has high critical chance, but suffers from rather slow projectile flight speed and low effective range.

Carcinnox

Rapid-fire toxin cannon: damages enemy vessels with a toxic sludge that can penetrate hulls and cause crews to become confused, turning on their allies.

Carcinnox fires fully-automatic projectiles that deal primarily Chem damage and has high status chance, fire rate, and projectile flight speed, at some expense to damage.

NOTE: Accuracy values of 80.0 displayed in-game for Sigma MkII and MkIII are not coherent with other variants but in-game tests verify they do have significantly less scatter. It is unknown if the accuracy is meant to be so high but it appears to be valid.

Cryophon

Ice wave generator: slams enemy ships with waves of frozen particulate freezing enemy propulsion systems and slowing them to a standstill.

Cryophon fires large CrpShotgun Arca Plasmor-like projectiles that deal massive Frost damage complimented by its critical chance and status chance, but has low effective range, low fire rate, and slow projectile flight speed.

Photor

Photon lance: two focused beams instantly sear enemy ships, often engulfing them in flame.

Photor fires a hitscan laser that deals primarily Incendiary damage with fast fire rate, good critical chance and status chance, pinpoint accuracy, and high effective range. These lasers have innate Punch Through.

The UI lists Heat Accretion values for the Photor of 0, 2, or 6, depending on which screen and specific turret is being viewed, but the Photor overheats in approximately the same time frame as other turrets. The only deviation is house Zetki which overheats 3x faster instead of the standard 2x.
