Open Call for Warframe Theme Ideas!

I'd like to see a warframe that could split it's limbs apart to have more usable appendages. These extra limbs might even be able to completely separate for a short time.

Perhaps this warframe could have had more work done to them than most to bring about this ability.

Beast themed warframe that can mount the enemy than bite and eat. it can also spawn the baby beasts. it can also transform to other types like [Werewolf, Wolf], [Fox, nine-tailed fox], [Bear, bear-men] from the Augment mods

I think we need a queen bee warframe

Can summon drone bees that damage enemys and collect honey

Use honey to trap enemys

Use honey to heal yourself and allies

Then can do a flying spiral that moves like wukongs 2nd ability but rather then heal, the bee frame damages everything in its path

Werewolf themed, Valkyr fight style/animalistic but also "hunter" themed like Chroma.

Not entirely based on the moon phases but rather tide of battle. If certain amount of enemies are killed in a time frame either triggers rage/transform. Or skill can be activated and buffs depend of how fast enemies were killed.

Transforms into a bigger beast, maybe using the bodies around him/souls he collected.

Soul stealing werewolf?

While thinking of a theme I realised that a simple but cool one to have could be a Weather themed Warframe!

Having tested other frames in the Old War, the Orokin could of decided to make a frame that utilised their terraforming technology in an offensive way but to also try help them as they spread in the system. It would be an interesting link to the lore by providing more story on how the Orokin empire grew.

Using weather based abilities, it would be a way to mix and match effects from other warframes while designing a brand new concept to the game. Maybe the frame could provide buffs with different weather effects in a radius or use the various elements to damage enemies.

Since the theme would be weather based it would allow both the team working on it and players playing to have fun utilizing the different weathers to their maximum efficiency. The design of the frame itself could also incorporate different aspects of weather from cloud shoulder plates, a rain pattern or a sun head piece.

Magusta (or Mabo, or Boam, or Moam, not final) - The Ghost Warframe (poltergeist/possession)

Her theme is something me and some friends thought about years ago, the ability to possess and use enemy bodys and abilitys.

She was born from the death of the thousands warframes and tennos, from grinner torturers, corpus researchers, infested infection and sentient war. She was purely born from anger just to avenge the dead.

She have just 1hp and her kit would be based on building up and recovering shields. Armor would be like 15 or 1 with unique shield mechanics. Well, she is a ghost, doesn't have life force or a body, theoretically.
Passive: Ectoplasmatic Body: Damage can't bypass shields. Additionally, enemies affected by her abilitys are marked dropping ectoplasm when killed that she can collect to get % damage reduction and restoring shields based on how many she get. Damage reduction would decay in something like Atlas rubbles.

Ability pool: Essence Drain (shield, energy or both), Telekinesis (grab and throw objects and enemies. Would be really fun some hagdoll mechanics), Ghost Sickness (terrify and mark enemies within a circular area of this skill.

Her ultimate is all her concept: Possession. She would possess an enemy, becoming immune in the process. Would need the death of this enemy (maybe not immune to friendly fire), energy reachs 0 or hitting 4 again to leave its body. Who wouldn't like to become John Prodman and smash things up with prova? Or getting a ballista and 1 shot enemies for revenge on beeing one shoted all those years. Maybe a little more tactical and taking control of a Ancient Healer and supporting your team? The possibilities are limitless.
The enemies would have all basic attacks and abilities, like hooking, throwing a grenade, charging... The damage could be affected by your weapon mods like john prodman prova could cause damage based on your current melee build. This concept would be something really hard to implement but hey, we are just on the themes so, let's go step by step.

Ghost Warframe for the win!

Gwyn, "King of the Hunt"

Gwyn, a master of hunting and survival, was created to both hunt down and outlive the most dangerous entities within the Infestation.

Playstyle: Aggressive

Ability 1: "Fury of the Hunt/Fury of the Survivor"

Toggles between two always-on passive bonuses:

Fury of the Hunt--Every kill grants Gwyn a small, stacking damage buff

Fury of the Survivor--Every kill grants Gwyn a small amount of Health/Shields back

Ability 2: "The Pack Endures"

Grants Gwyn's allies his current "1" passive for a short period of time. During that time, Gwyn's passive bonus is doubled in strength.

Ability 3: "Spear of the Hunt"

Throws a powerful spear at an enemy. Damage type and effects depend on current Warframe energy color.

Red/Orange/Yellow/White: Fire damage. Creates an explosion upon impact, dealing fire damage to nearby enemies.

Green/Black: Corrosive. Debuffs target's resistances for a short period of time.

Blue/Teal: Electric damage. Stuns target for a short duration, and up to three enemies nearby.

Ability 4: "Wyld Hunt"

Grants Gwyn and his allies BOTH of his "1" Ability passives at the same time, at double the strength, for a short period of time. While "Wyld Hunt" is active, "Spear of the Hunt" does not cost energy to use.

Inspiration: Odin from Norse mythology, and Gwn ap Nudd from Welsh mythology.

Whisper:

A whisper themed frame. It could also be referred to as the haunted frame, the ghost/spirit frame, or the shifting personality frame. This would be a very high skill-cap Warframe.

Backstory (may contain spoilers for various quests in Warframe, specifically the Sacrifice):

When the Orokin were searching for new subjects to turn into their Warframes to the fight the Sentients during the Old War, they became aware of a squad of Dax who performed their duties exceptionally well, specifically their leader, who's tactical mind saved her squad when all others failed. Not only would she suggest frankly brilliant modifications to original battle plans from the Orokin, but she would react to unforeseen changes in the battlefield. However, the talent of her squad would not be eclipsed by her shadow. Since they were brought together by random assignment, this squad of 5 Dax each had their roll and fulfilled their responsibilities exceptionally.

The First was the leader, the mind, the tactician, providing them with plans that would maximise their success. Some said they could see the future. The Second honed their body to be a powerful tool, strong, powerful, and seemingly unkillable, and vastly preferred taking the fight directly to the enemy, even as a distraction. The Third was their infiltrator, able to sneak behind enemy lines, sabotage key infrastructure, and prepare the way for the rest of the squad. The Fourth was the user of unconventional methods, mostly delving into the realm of chemicals. They would poison the enemy with Third, stimulate their allies in battle with Second, and heal the wounded with strange remedies after the battle was over. If First was their mind, then Fifth was their heart. They would inspire the team, help them when hope was seemingly lost, and would rekindle the squad with their undying faith in the Orokin and made sure none lost sight of who they were fighting for.

Together, they were a force to be reckoned with, but to the Orokin, they were a force of potential waiting to be unleashed. Perhaps they should make them all into Warframes and perhaps their cohesion in their life would carry over to their second as the void children's servants. This was not to be, as whether it was bad luck or a lapse in First's planning, the team was caught off guard during a counter-attack where they were able to deal a significant blow to sentient movement on Europa. When Dax support teams arrived, they found all of them dead or dying, but all beyond saving through conventional medicine. Ballas, ever clever, decided to attempt to meld their broken minds and bodies to Warframes with a single incubation, essentially making them all one Warframe. He wasn't certain what would happen, but what was the worst that could?

When the Warframe awoke, it did not truly awake. It was only partially there, only partially controllable. That is, until the others awoke. With each of the five that woke, the more chaos that reigned. Only the most strong-willed Tenno could command this Warframe, not due to any physical limitation, but lack of mental fortitude. The five never truly died on the fateful day, but none of them truly continued living. When one would awake, their power would transform the Warframe into what they embodied in life. When one would awake, the other would sleep, their powers would become dormant, and the Warframe would become similar, but different. First was the clearest, the easiest to control. She would utilize the Orokin technology she was so familiar with in life and use her tactical mind to sway fights into their favor. Second, now enraged by the pain, was also easy to control as the rage need only be channelled. They would charge into battle as fearlessly as in their first life. Third was harder to control. It felt at times as thought they were lashing out to all they could find to make them feel the pain they somehow knew, including the operator. Fourth's potent chemicals were hazardous for enemies and helpful for allies, but their effects would also effect the Warframe, which came at some discomfort to the operators over time. Fifth was the strangest, who often felt silently sentient to the operators as they almost felt as though they were being watched. Fifth's religious zeal and faith in the Orokin to influence the other four and even project them out of the Warframe for a time as a spirit. Perhaps this could be done to others?

As Ballas saw these interactions, he was quite pleased...until he saw the side effects. 5 distinct people all bound to each other, but all with a powerful will to live. They were not aware of each other's existence so when they were not in control, or 'asleep', they would fight for control with the same desperation they fought for life on that fateful day their lives changed forever. The operators never could find a way to control who 'awoke', but one would awake, and when their power diminished, another, seemingly at random, would will their power to the surface to replace the one who was awake and force them to 'sleep', taking their place. Ballas was at first deeply displeased with the results. How could they rely on a Warframe so mentally shattered? It was so random they could not depend on it. But his mind slowly changed. How could the enemy adapt to one who was completely random? How to they predict one who is unpredictable? Only the strongest of mind could operate this Warframe, so the strongest shall. The Orokin will use this powerful force to combat any event, and under a powerful mind, the always-present whispers of the sleeping minds would become part of them and perhaps, one day, the operator would become the Sixth and the power of the five would finally be controllable to become the most potent and powerful weapon against the Sentients to date.

Until that day...the whispers will continue, and chaos shall reign.

Gameplay:

(Passive) Whispers:

A huge part of this Warframe's (Whisper's) gameplay would be its 5 forms, one for each of the 5 Dax operatives. They would each have a unique 4th ability, but would only have variation on the 1st through 3rd abilities. That way the design would be doable but each form would be very different in function and feel. Another huge part of Whisper's gameplay would be the actual whispers. They could be unintelligible or understandable, but there would be 5 distinct whispers, one for each of the 5 that would constantly be playing throughout the mission (in an very background noise sort of way so as to not be annoying). Over time, the whispers would start diverging: some would disappear, and one would grow louder. Eventually (over the course of maybe 10 seconds) 4 of them would disappear and there would only be 1 left and that (louder) whisper would tell the player which form they're going to transform into next, as each transformation is completely random. They can never transform into the same form 2 times in a row (First's whisper can't win when you're already in First's form). Forms last for 20-30 seconds, can be affected by duration.

1st ability:

Reminder: each ability would have a variation for each of the 5 Dax's forms

A straight line kind of ability

First: shoot a beam of energy that did electricity/magnetic

Second: Charge in a straight line, kind of like Rhino's charge

Third: Throw a knife that deals toxin and gas in a line with 100% status

Fourth: Throw a ball of chems that burns enemies AND sets self on fire

Fifth: Shoot a beam of light that blinds enemies

2nd ability:

An area ability, the targeting similar to how hydroid's 1st ability targets.

First: Throw a gadget that sucks everyone together to the gadget. Guaranteed knockdown, but does not hold them their like Nidus/Vauban does

Second: Spin and hit everyone in an area around you

Third: Poison and rad proc everyone in an area around you

Fourth: Throw a healing powder in the targeted area giving healing to allies over time for a small duration

Fifth: Burn the area with a blinding light that deals fire dmg

3rd ability:

Self-buff

First: Gain a Zenith-like icon over everyone's head in range, gain a bonus to headshot dmg, and increase move speed. No gained punch through to be clear

Second: Enrage, gaining increased atk spd/fire rate, dmg reduc, and health regen

Third: Turn invisible for a few seconds (nothing like Loki/Ash invis). Cannot pass through lasers like Ivara's unaugmented Prowl. After invisibility ends, gain partial invis that grants dmg reduc (like Mirage's 3rd ability that reduces dmg in shadow)

Fourth: Enrage, same as Second's but more fire rate and less health regen

Fifth: Suck the souls out of those around you, hurting enemies and healing yourself based on damage dealt.

4th ability:

First: Throw a grenade with a large aoe with guaranteed slash proc. Slows enemies

Second: Slam the ground for the next x seconds dealing dmg to enemies around you and knocking them down

Third: Teleport to an enemy and leave a gas cloud at the position you were and the position you teleported to that does % health dmg in a small radius

Fourth: Throw a pack of powder that leaves a cloud that harms enemies and heals allies and grants them dmg reduc

Fifth: Purge one of the Dax souls from Whisper. It runs towards the location and engages enemies as a spectre-like ally who can cast their form's abilities (which exception of their 4th). Their whispers stop, removing them from the option to be chosen as the next form. If all souls are sent out from Whsiper, the first to come back will be the next form

The abilities are definitely not set must-haves, I just really wanted to paint a good picture as to what this frame could be. I really set out to give a warframe a compelling backstory, engaging mechanics (the whispers could be really cool), and some RNG. Each form needs to be good, survivable, and deal dmg, but they each have their own specialization and randomly switching in the middle of a mission requires the player to be familiar with the Warframe and able to adapt to new abilities on the fly while locking powerful abilities behind time/RNG walls allows those abilities to be more powerful. Could also have some really cool idles like souls trying to break free from the Warframe. Some ideas for the Dax operative's whispers to differentiate them could be: First -  hmms and ahhs. Second - angry grunts. Third - light to heavy breathing/light to rapid breathing. Fourth - laughing. Fifth - sssss sounds or spspsps sounds.

Anyways, I think this Warframe would be complicated but engaging. Would really introduce a really new and fresh idea to Warframe while keeping it true to the lore.

How about a Warframe of the beginning. A Warframe who reflects the ways before the Tenno and before the Corpus, Grineer, Corrupt, and Sentients. There could even be a quest tied into it explaining what happened before everything even started. A quest that explains how everything was when there was peace and prosperity between the people and the times where the ordinary people didn’t have to live in fear.

A warframe that I've been wanting since I started playing is an elemental wizard/mage frame. It would be a dps frame (with some buffs) that cycles through elements to base its spells (abilities) off of. For example it could cycle through fire, electricity, and ice, (in the mission unlike frames like chroma) to have different effects.

One of its abilities could attack with the chosen element, so fire would attack like the ignis, electricity could fire chain lightning like the amprex, and Ice could fire a beam of ice like the glaxion.

I would also give it an exaulted staff that would function like exaulted blade exept that intead of launching a progectile on every attack, it would launch a progectile on heavy attacks. So for fire it would shoot a fireball, electricity would fire a lightning bolt, and ice would launch a progectile that instantley freezes enemies on contact.

Another possible ability would be to buff its-self and nearby allies depending on the selected element (like chroma). Fire could buff health (either increase max hp or give auto regen), electricity could buff sheilds (either give over-sheilds or increase max sheilds), and ice could buff armour.

The K-Drive is somewhat isolated, because you cannot use it in every mission and it's separated from the battle system.

I propose a Warframe, that was found and modified by the vent kids. It's so heavy, that it has to permanently use one of your K-Drives to move. It's abilities focus upon gravity: E.g. longer flights and controlled devastating impacts. You should be able to connect your k-drive with your melee weapon for a short duration. K-Drive stunts will create a force field, which direction is determined by the stunt type (W-A-S-D keys). Your k-drive points decide the range of the force field. This field should slow enemies, with enough points even throw them on the ground.

A copycat or mimic based warframe that is capable of shapeshifting into their allied Tenno or their Enemy, allowing to confuse the enemy.

They are not capable of transforming into non-living objects though, and are limited to what they can turn into based on size (too small wont work and too big also doesnt work either)

That's all I've got, I apologize if there has already been a dup. theme submitted.

Solar themed aerial warframe

What I imagine is a skinny looking warframe that has a fiery motif to it and a giant ring attached to its back with a orb in the middle meant to channel the sun into its abilities. This orb would essentially be a tiny sun contained by the ring. With the ability to fly around much like Hildryn (though I imagine they could fly without it being its ult) they could bombard enemies from above with their solar abilities, which could cause a variety of damage types from heat, radiation and magnetic. Solar beams, flares that can blind or lower enemy shields, there are plenty of abilities I can think of. Perhaps it could have some type of resource to manage other than energy, like a natural build up of solar energy to use and perhaps an ability that can quickly add to your solar energy at the cost of something else, perhaps your shields.

Maybe the ring is an exalted weapon? Maybe the frame has small orbs orbiting around it as if they were planets, which can do things like grant buffs or act similarly to sentinels. Maybe the frame takes on phoenix-like qualities and has an ability similar to Inaros' sarcophagus? What if it's themed after the greek god Helios and this ring on its back is its crown, a radiant halo around it? You could take this frame in a lot of different directions, but I feel the core idea of a solar themed frame capable of flight is worthy of being added to the game, especially with the open areas we've had added in the last couple of years. Despite being an aerial themed frame, some of its abilities could very well work indoors too, especially now that self damage is no longer a thing.

Hephaestus, The Forge-master

Bringing forth the cores of worlds, this Warframe forges himself and his allies into true weapons of War.

Combines a bit of Earth & Fire themes - Magma/Lava.

Generalized Concept:

Stats:

  • High Health/Armor
  • Low Speed
  • Little-to-No Shields

Looks:

  • A bit of a rocky texture with veins of glowing molten rock peeking through.
  • Thinner-than-normal legs (after his name-sake)
  • Alt-helms named after Volcanoes 😄

Powers:

  • Some powers work by erupting magma/lava out of the grounds/walls which quickly harden with veins of molten rock emanating heat, slowly cooling off until they collapse under their own weight.
  • Probably has some way to improve the weapons of himself or allies; possibly by forging shareable exalted weapons for his team.
  • Maybe his passive gives some buff to hammer-weapons?
