Open Call for Warframe Theme Ideas!

Name: Moirai (/Clotho/Lachesis/Atropos)

The warframe of Fate.

Based on Greek goddesses of fate.

Background:
A warframe created by the Orokin to attempt to control their own fate. But with all things where you attempt to control that which is beyond your power, it backfires.

Design aspects:

1. Associated weapons could be needle & thread(whip type) themed or scissor themed (dual 1 hand sword type) (totally not a rip off of *cough* Kill la kill *cough*)

2. She could turn into 3 different forms based on the last ability used, default Clotho form

3. Built in Syandana would be the “celestial weave”, the universe's fabric of fate.

Abilities:

Passive: The Eye of Fate:

While stationary, or while in melee mode(?), all living beings become visible/emphasized, even through walls. Basically a passive to highlight targets and make them stand out to be targeted for the weave ability.

Or

A different passive for each goddess of fate form.

Clotho form passive: health re-gen for teammates while within range

Lachesis form passive: decrease teammates negative status effects duration while within range

Atropos form passive: bleed status effect for enemies within range

Ability 1: Weave

Target selection mechanism, attaches thread of fate to target(enemy or ally). As ability levels up, the more simultaneous target can be selected. On repeated cast, the first target gets dropped to add the new target. It is TBD if it should be single target selection at a time or AOE around the warframe, it depends on the usability/flow. If it is AOE, you can hold 1 to switch between prioritizing enemies or allies.

Small enemy speed de-buff while entangled/woven

Small ally speed increase while entangled/woven

Ability 2: Thread of life/Clotho

Restores health to allies that are currently targeted by weave.

If used after cut, the life cut from enemies, is added to over-shields or over-health of allies?

Ability 3: Thread of destiny/Lachesis

Buffs allies that are currently targeted by weave. Damage up

De-buffs enemies that are currently targeted by weave. Damage down

Ability 4: Cut/Atropos

Cuts the tread of life for enemies currently targeted by weave.

Insta-kill for mobs, but deal a large amount of damage to boss enemies, assuming they are vulnerable. This would obviously need some work with scaling damage based on level.

Animation: when ability is triggered Morari grabs the treads connected to enemies and cuts with a pair of scissors.

Earth. What comes to mind when you read this word? Regardless, the one thing that binds is all to together is the land beneath our feet. Imagine the power that resides within? It provides our food, space for our homes, and materials for everything we need and want. And what is the world’s favorite “material”? Gold. It’s pretty, it’s versatile, and it’s valuable.

Now, I know gold is off-limits for Tennogen applications and typically reserved for prime frames. But this is an anniversary! 7 is a special number!

This warframe theme originates from the Greek figure, Midas! Midas’ abilities (though, not taken into account, are still worth mentioning) would be based on manipulating weapons (turning them impotent and into gold), using the altered metal to build up his currency (a metered resource much like Baruuk’s restraint) and using this resource to bribe enemies, rendering them mercenaries for hire. He can violently dematerialize into gold and reform himself in the heat of battle, dousing his enemies in molten aurum. The Tenno who can master his resources can even manipulate the earth itself to encase his enemies within the ground and transmogrify their very essence into explosive energy. The master manipulator of fortune and the harbinger of eruptive forces, Midas won’t just bullet about, turning everything into gold, he always adds a touch of despair!

Seeing how several Warframes take a foundation from a mythological figure or have strong callbacks to various themes of legends, I think continuing the trend is well in-line with the styles we usually see.

With that, I would propose a Warframe based on the mythological figure "Varcolac" (or "Vrykolakas" depending on the world region).

Originating in Romania, Varcolac can be considered as the possible origin myth for both vampires and werewolves, as well as revenants, given the properties often attributed to it, and in later works such as the Dictionnaire Infernal, Varcolac is reclassified as a unique demon prince associated with lycanthropy more directly.

Such a frame would be able to pull from most traditional gothic themes and still be cohesive to the figure it represents. Among the abilities that seem consistent across the board is Varcolac's ability to create more of itself through infection of people it kills (as with most creatures it appears to have inspired), the ability to change forms at night, the desire to cannibalize the living, and the power to inflict sleep paralysis.

A number of frames already utilize the theme of "consume enemy, get power" as a mechanical method, so it may be best to play it differently (such as gaining energy from slain foes to fuel transformation times instead of power or health, for instance) or avoid it. In this case, as Varcolac is a "creature of night" in all senses, perhaps instead such a warframe could play with day-night cycles (admittedly only present on Earth at this time, but technically any planet could -and should- have these cycles, or be locked into one or the other for this frame's purposes), giving the frame different abilities depending on the phase of the map. Alternatively, this could have a more classical toggle ("forms", as some frames have) to make it less time-dependent -or it could even influence the day-night cycle for the instance, if we're shooting from the hip for ideas.

Appearance-wise, of course the wolf-theme comes to mind. Such a frame would also lend itself to infested themes, insofar as lore links are concerned with Warframe canon, and in the case of a transformative frame with overt model differences, this could be a result of a damaged or partially infested/out-of-control frame that shifts back and forth across a precarious line of madness and stability.

So there's the idea, in a word: "Varcolac".

warframe_concept__timber_the_werewolf__b

THEME: Werewolf themed Warframe. There is a small community that have been waiting years for a werewolf. Meanwhile we've seen vampire, zombie, mummy, monkey, dragon, ghost, and ogre influences. It's time for the wolf to shine. There are hundreds of versions in the forums that have been submitted. My is a Shaman Werewolf that plays off of Mesa's cowboy theme, since there is little representation of Native American concepts in gaming.

BACKSTORY: The New War has brought decimation across the system, destroying scores of Grineer troops. In a panic, the Worm Queen does the unthinkable. Resurrect the Warframe program. Her options are limited. She has no Dax, no Ballas and no functioning Orokin equipment. But what she does have is access to the Silver Grove and plenty of Feral Kubrow as test subjects. Nothing can go wrong...

DETAILS: A Werewolf Warframe falls more in line with a tank/support role, borrowing from the unstoppable monster and the pack nature of the wolf. The tank is self explanatory. But what if the support expands on Zephyr's Tornado absorb, by giving standing AoE abilities additional Status (Toxic Snowglobe, Cold Bastille, etc)

How about a legion based frame? It could have a risk/reward setup involving sacrificing a portion of your survival stats to either summon a capable minion/clone or buff your allies, depending on if you're aiming at an ally or not at the time. Buffs could also be determined by a sacrifice setup similar to Nidus, Trinity, Garuda, etc., where an enemy is locked down to the benefit of everyone. The buff in question is dependent on the enemy type (robot, grineer, corpus, infested, sentient), with corrupted being the most versatile enemy for buffs thanks to their wide variety of enemy factions/types at their disposal. The playstyle would heavily change based on factions and whether or not you're alone, and (preferably) encourage buffing/splitting over just using the base setup in most situations.

Theme: Drunken Fist

The ultimate master of space booze and martial arts. Sober, he may be nothing to look at, but after a few drinks, becomes an unpredictable master of the fist where every trip and stumble is no accident. The more booze he downs, the better he gets...or so he’d have you believe. He kinda forgot where he was 3 drinks ago...

Heavily inspired by the movie Drunken Master.

Cute/eldritch horror warframe, like the protagonist of Hollow Knight, who, for the most of the game, is kind of innocent-yet-capable-of-fighting, but over time (especially during endings) reveals its horrifying, Abyssal powers.

My idea is a warframe themed around fog and mist that fits the whole "fog of war" idea that's often used in strategy games. But oh man so many good ideas that I wanted to say and have already been said so that's awesome! I'm stoked about this.

I'd really like to see a gladiator warframe that has a kind of spartan/gladiator design to it. Back story and lore could be tied to Kela de Thaym's arenas as well as where you could get the parts to assemble it. His abilities could be centered around mastering all types of melee weapons and rallying/bolstering allies to fight. Name him Dominus or some greek/roman name and make him beefy like rhino.

Just thought up a infinite energy warframe that's a "defender" like frame. Uses "shields" as its energy source but it cannot use the shields for taking hits, only as an energy source.

1st ability drop a big bubble shield (Depending on how long you hold it the shield gets stronger and consumes more shield energy), Double tapping 1 (holding would have the same effect as what's stated above) would give a weaker shield to nearby allies, the 2nd shield that will act like another short term shield gate for the warframes' shields (Once broken it's on cooldown per person and refreshing gives diminishing effects and also holding so you can't make everyone super tanks with their own extra shields/shield gate.).

2nd ability drops your held weapon and gives it to a turret. Don't want afking so it's on a duration. The turret won't scale with power only duration and your equiped mods for health/shield/armor. It's 360 degrees so range would only effects the distance before it can start attacking. Holding would put down a easily destroyable regen station so you can albeit slowly recover shield/hp.

3rd ability is an ability boost to both ones and both twos. Depending on the average lvl of enemies damaging the team including the placed items by this frame the shields temporarily can be placed tankier while 3 is active (it scales basically) and the turret that that borrows your weapon gains increased firerate/reload depending on enemy level while the regen station ticks faster both while the 3rd ability is active.
(alteratively if toxin/slash/magnetic/aoe attacks is an issue) when held
the bubble shield can blind enemies when broken, personal shields removes status', gun turret slows down its attacks and applies dmg reduction to the shields from the 1 and to the team

4th ability drains over time and links every nearby player and produces a circle around them which both are effected by ability range. Depending on how much enemies are within each individual circle everyone gets a damage buff.
Player 1,2,3,4 gets the 4th ability activated but player 4 wanders too far and unlinks. Everyone is spaced out and player 3 is meleeing enemies. Player 1 has 4 enemies in their circle, player 2 has 5, player 3 has 10 and player 4 has 5 enemies in their circle. Even when killed the buffs are additive so players 1-3 gets a (number of enemies in the circle)19 x (avg enemy level so lets say 90) x power strength + base amount of damage added into each shot. They'll get scaling additive void power added onto their attacks so if they find a tanky enemy you can just kill/mark the weaker ones to then target the tanky enemy when buffed up. Player 4 while alone will get only a 5x multiplier but when nearing allies again and linking the circles everyone will get a 24x multiplier for enemies marked (even if they die they count as being marked)
20 Lvl 90 enemies will give a 20 x 90 = 1,800 dmg buff + base so lets say 500, everyone will get a flat 2,300 dmg added per shot (idk about melee)
Ideal play style is to shield everyone/objectives and to protect whatever you placed.

TL:DR Auto self recharge energy based frame.
ability 1 drops a big shield and gives personal shields to everyone.
ability 2 drop a turret and a health/shield regen station.
ability 3 acts like an ability steroid/changer.
ability 4 scaling dmg buff but is best when every player stays together.
Passive increases dmg reduction depending on how much energy is held.
Kinda like the "energy is overflowing" Broly passive from DragonBall Xenoverse

translation from google

Theme: Mimic
First mention: (XB1) The Neko Otaku (look at the end)
History
During the old war, many mind-owners were captured. Among them were facial expressions, with very useful abilities. They have been studied. Based on them, a warframe was created that could take any appearance for one purpose - to penetrate the enemy’s lair unnoticed and destroy the source of decision-making.

A little more in support of the warframe mimic.
1) From the mission "ropalolyst" we already know who Lotus / Nata is, therefore the mimics were captured and studied. Their abilities could not be ignored, since they needed a victory, and according to the video from the Erra quest, ordinary warframes didn’t really succeed.
2) A new wave is on the verge, so it’s time to “recall” this unique warframe in order to repeat the outcome of the old war - to win.
3) The capabilities of the warframe will not be limited to copying the appearance, but most likely they will copy the abilities, allied warframes, or enemies, which looks like a more universal version of the warframe.
4 *) "there is no more gold spear", or maybe this warframe is the same gold spear from the dialogs of the Erra quest?

Lux: The radiant master of light.

She has a luminous core of pure light surrounded by floating armor plates that make up her humanoid form. The plates have an iridescent rainbow shine to them over whatever color you choose, and the seams between them glow with her inner light.

Standing in bright light charges her abilities, and her various abilities summon floating prism crystals that create things like linking laser turrets and blinding light barriers. And for her ultimate ability, whatever it may end up being, her armor plates separate and expose her inner core.

A manticore themed frame would be nice. I have seen versions that have a dragon head instead of a snake tail, but some have all four, lion, goat, and dragon heads and a snake tail. Lots of creative ideas for abilities, possibly one for each part. The design could have scales towards the bottom and slowly transitions to fur or something else that makes sense. Horns for the goat.  A mane around the main head for the lion. Could also have the ability to change heads. Possible wings on the back. Claws on the hands and feet. Also, just saying the idle animations could be very creative, like the snake hissing and biting or even having the heads fighting for control or constantly changing.

Name: Brawler
Description: The martial artist, user of inner ki.
Passive: The higher his combo count is the stronger and faster his martial arts is
Abilities: 1)Tornado Kick: He does what the name suggests with a whirlwind that does knockdown to his enemies
2) Eruption: He dropkicks the ground and make a little shockwave eruption that's lifts enemies in the air
3) Steady Breath: Can slow down the area around him
4) Forbidden Charka: He goes into a primal fury with increased damage but when the time runs out he is slow and weak and you have to wait a certain amount of time to be back to normal

Ok so what about a build-a frame. Like we have zaws and kit guns now... why not build a warframe.

I.e.    chose a head that determines how much energy you have, chose a torso that determines health, arms that determine shields, legs that determine armor.

Then for the abilities use systems from other frames, like if you want to have embers 1, volts 2, frosts 3, and nyxs 4. You slot there systems into the build-a frame.

I know this isnt a "warframe" but how cool would it be to have a warframe thats unique to you.

We have a Sword based Warframe. Excalibur.

We have a Bow based Warframe. Ivara.

We have a Gun based Warframe. Mesa.

We have a Spear based Warframe. Nezha.

We have a Staff based Warframe. Wukong.

We DON'T have an Axe based Warframe.

So how about a warframe with a large axe or twin axes? Or based on a mythological warrior who used large axes? To round out the weapon based Warframes?
