IPS mods should work like elemental mods

in the past, that would have devalued the benefit of Elemental Base Weapons - now that Elemental Base Weapons have only a marginal benefit for Status weighting over other Weapons....

i don't know what to think anymore.

It's not even just that. If you're building to weight for a particular IPS proc, that's harder to do now for the same reason. Obviously you'd only ever do that for Slash, but considering that the Slash damage type is not actually good by itself and it's all about the proc, the logic kinda stands. Slash builds lost a lot of Slash procs in the update, this would give them back a little of what they had.

For that matter, the fact that Slash is the only IPS proc that counts just means that weapons with a lot of base Slash have a benefit over others for those particular builds. Otherwise, the base damage type distribution doesn't really matter much. You wouldn't benefit from building for Puncture damage when Corrosive exists, and Impact kinda doesn't do anything as a damage type or a proc. So the effect of making these mods work like elemental mods would be to make Slash builds possible on weapons with little innate Slash, "devaluing" high slash weapons, but I'd be pressed to see that as a bad thing.
