You know that key icon that appears in the upper right corner when you equip one of the dragon keys? It would be interesting if, as you get closer to the general area of the Vault, it begins to change color and pulse faster, in order to give you a vague idea of which direction you should go in without pinpointing it's exact location and spoiling the exploration factor.
