There is no diference anymore. Its more generic than ever....

And why is that a bad thing? Status actually works no not just bloodrush crit heavy blades and polearms, and completly and uterly broken whip slide.
Generic doesn't mean bad. Now almost all melee is good not like in the old system where only those that I already mentioned existed and it was horribly unbalanced.

I don't think it makes sense to change an aspect of the game that the entire user base interacts with to better suite the niche audience of players who do 4+ hour survival runs at the possible detriment to their physical health. 

I also rather like (almost?) all melee weapons being viable, instead of cheesing mechanics of a select few.
