We’re calling upon the Warframe community to create the next Warframe! You can stay up-to-date on the design phases in the official Community-Designed Warframe thread.

Community artist, Eornheit has created the official Warframe concept art based on the Broken Warframe submitted by eaterofstorms!

We need four Abilities and a Passive to complete the community-designed Warframe. Share your ideas with us! The Warframe team will be using your ideas in-game.

Assembled from the remnants of Warframes destroyed during the Old War and held together by Void energy. 

How to submit:

In this thread, share a description of 1-4 Warframe Abilities and a Passive. Base your ideas on the Broken Warframe theme and Eornheit’s concept art!

You may include values with your Ability ideas, but please keep in mind that these values might be changed by the Dev Team later in the design phase.

Guidelines:

  • One submission per player. Be sure to include all of your Ability ideas in one post!
  • 1-4 Ability ideas and 1 Passive idea per player.
  • Ability ideas can’t be changed after they are submitted. You may edit your post to make small changes like fixing typos. "Reason for edit" will be reviewed.
  • If there are duplicate submissions, only the one that was first posted will be considered - we’ll be watching!
  • Ability ideas must be original. Your submission can be from a post you made elsewhere as long as it’s your own!
  • Abilities might be slightly altered by the Dev Team as needed to ensure consistency with Warframe’s overall design. 
  • Do not reserve spots in this thread.
  • Only post submissions in this thread.
  • Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered. 
  • Chosen Ability ideas become property of Digital Extremes.

We understand that we can’t avoid duplicate submissions, so please do your best to submit ideas that have yet to be presented, and we’ll do our best when sorting through to ensure there is a fair opportunity for all!

The Warframe Team will review all submissions to select the community-created Warframe’s Abilities! We may mix and match submissions from multiple players. Please keep in mind that we might make small changes to Abilities to ensure the community-created Warframe is consistent with Warframe’s overall design.

1 - Invasive Spear. Bludgeons an enemy from a distance with one of the warframe's body parts. Stuns the target and deals damage over time that transfers as health to the user. If the enemy dies, the body part will seek a new target.

2 - Dismantle. The warframe dismantle itself and becomes a mess of body parts on the ground. You can still move around with vastly increased speed, but you also gain the ability to move on walls and ceiling. Loss of precision for enemies who target you. Attacking cancels the ability. You can use other abilities without cancelling that ability.

3 - Anomaly blast. Blasts a wave of energy with strange effects. Repulse enemies strongly while lowering their current level. 

4 - Bury. Generates an anomalous shockwave that buries enemies halfway in the ground. Using anomaly blast on buried enemies will make random items pop off the ground.

Passive:

Emergency Fix

- Can reassemble itself from spare parts lying around.

- gets 1 extra revive during missions

 

Ability 1: Jury-rig

- 4 select-able self-buffs that deteriorate health after a period of time

- Buff 1: Buff fire/melee rate (put some fast servos in them arms, too bad they burn up on use)

- Buff 2: Buff armor (slapped on some metal, hope it sticks)

- Buff 3: Buff bullet jump speed (new springs in the legs)

- Buff 4: Buff accuracy (more eye-to-brain-to-arm processing power, which wire was that again)

- Augment mod: short-circuit - drains energy instead of health

 

Ability 2: Bolt shooter

- what do you do with leftover parts after assembly? Use them as ammo

- stockpiles spare parts every time the warframe is jury-rigged or reassembled(via kurplunk)

- launches stock piled nut&bolts/parts at enemies

- increase counter by X when jury-rigged or kurplunk is used, decease by 1 when bolt shooter is used.

- bolt shooter can only be used while the part stockpile is > 0

- Augment mod: death refund - if an enemy dies from bolt shooter, recover 1 spare part

 

Ability 3: Kurplunk

- warframe falls apart, enemies treat warframe as dead and drop argo/awareness of warframe

- when activated again, warframe reassembles, and regains some health

- Augment mod: quiet assembly - reassembling does not cause noise, allows warframe to perform stealth

melee finishers again, assuming they weren't in enemy visual sight

 

Ability 4: Stalled(/Hung process)

- Paralyzes(/stun) warframe while active, then radiates an AOE when timer expires, energy runs out or ability

is activated again

- longer the warframe is paralyzed, the more range/damage is dealt

- Augment mod: Cascading Errors - enemies that touch the warframe while it is paralyzed, become paralyzed(/stun) for X time

I don't know who this warframe is, but seeing them do some akira-style gigantic-handed punch with all their weird tentacle-meat would be amazing.  Big impact, maybe a bit of a shockwave, sent some baddies flying or do some massive damage if they get slammed into a wall.

Oh!  Or maybe breaking into a big cloud of pieces and launching themselves at an opponent, surrounding and latching onto them to use their body as a temporary puppet.   Could have the puppet body act as a temporary health pool for the warframe, taking all damage for the frame until they die.

It might also be neat to have him take a page from Chroma's book and have the armored parts and his spindly white noodle seperate.  Maybe he could fling some of himself at the head of a target and turn them into an ally, lowering his armor in the process?

1 - Script Error

Change the vulnerabilities of a single enemy to ones that fully match your current weapon. I.E. you can change the vulnerability of a Grineer Bombard to your Electric + Gas + Slash weapon.

4 - Connection to the Host has been Lost (Placeholder Name) / Void Scream of Death (Themed name, after Blue Screen of Death)

All enemies in an area stand in place continously repeating the last action they were doing (shooting in the direction they were shooting, running in the direction they were running, etc.) for x seconds. Inflicting damage to them doesn't "wake" them up.

After that time passes, they are Confused for x seconds.

Passive: Stack Overflow

The Warframe has a <5% chance to recieve double the amount of any pickup.

Passive: Every shot has a % chance to fire twice expending 3x the ammo,

 

1st ability LoS targeted  - blink rapidly to up to X enemies while blasting them with ill harnessed void energy, each subsequent hit drains more energy per enemy for more damage.

2nd ability - you are yanked away from real space, while leaving a tear where you stood. In this blank void you are channeled ammo and health back. you may terminate early to exit before the full duration is up.

3rd ability -   Extend your influence to a small pocket, sending enemies into your tormented space, each enemy gives % weapon damage, higher value targets give you more. enemies take % health ticks

4th ability - Discombobulate your self to shoot X times huge albeit slowish energy blasts, each ally that it passes through gains a soothing heal/s of void energy and fights with increased vigour, gaining fire rate, reload speed and melee attack speed. enemies feel the void burning their essence applying a DoT and reducing % armor, also with a % panic proc (akin to fire procs)

 

A bit of this is the idea of an incomplete system while also the frames frankenstein monster origin tormenting it to belonging in that blank void in their mind, and sometimes in reality. I really wanted to get through the 4th ability should get a ripped apart frame, maybe using only energy color to recreate it in its disjuncted form to fire, and in this case it would not need to retain your cosmetics while you are in the ability, returning to form after it finishes. The 2nd ability could pull you out to a space colored by one of the color channels to customize, I envisioned at a very dark purplish room, which it would share with that 3rd ability cast.

From the looks, I think it'd be cool if he could drop the body parts to infest an enemy with his tendrils and take control. Could also switch to another enemy from there but it'd be dangerous without going back to your parts because then your body wouldn't be protected therefore leaving you very vulnerable against attacks after a slight grace period. Maybe he could also take control of enemies around him if the enemy is an eximus or a non-generic enemy. Would be forced out by nulli bubbles and the like

Hi there Spaceninjas^^

Please Keep the Topic "Broken" in mind. The following ability ideas are meant to show how something can be broken/bugged in any online-game out there.

PASSIVE:
Small chance (maybe 10%?) to "break" an Ability. It will not activate. Instead, the energy cost is halfed and you will receive 1 out of 4 random passive buffs/effects.

Spoiler

1. Pre-Reload:  (30% Chance to activate) 
Seems like the next time you reload your weapon, it will have double it's original magazine size! 
(That's how reloading a weapon a 2nd time before it needs a reload works, right?)

2. Balancing 1x1:  (30% Chance to activate) 
Changes Health & Shield values. Gain increased Shield reload speed and small health restoration for a certain amount of time.
(Shield was blue and Health was red, right? Or was it the other way around? Anyway, we need more balance & that's the correct way!)

3. Fashionframe:  (30% Chance to activate) 
Your Warframe will partially look  like a different Warframe you already own for a certain amount of time. You also get the same passive as the Warframe you look like during this time! 
(All of your Warframes are sooo pretty, look at this one for example!)

4. Dragonkey: (10% Chance to activate)
Applies a random dragonkey-effect to you for a short period of time.
(I did unequip the Dragonkey before this mission, right....right?!)



ABILITIES:
1. Phase-Fail:
Target a small area. The player vanishes from the current location and will appear/teleport somewhere inside the targeted area. If there are enemies inside that area, they might get damaged if you land/get stuck inside of them!
 

2. Glitch Walk:
The Warframe is able to glitch through most of the objects in the enviroment, even walls and can go outside of the normal map for a few meters.

While out of bounce/ inside an object: 
The Warframe is not able to attack/dmg/affect Enemies&Allies inside the regular map. It is basically some sort of "safe space" if you do not want to get hit for a moment / if you want to travel faster.
While inside the normal map:
Enemies won't be able to target you correctly and have a higher chance to miss you as a target. Touching an enemy might cause them to fall out of the map for a few seconds and dmg them at the same time! (They will appear above their original position at the end, slamming on the ground)

*² Small chance that you will buff a random ally instead. Energy cost & duration is halfed.

3. Bugged Out/Looper:
Every enemy around you in a radius while being in your active line of sight suffers "real-life-lag".
The enemies are unable to move away, looping in their animation....Furthermore half of the dmg dealt during this time might be dealt again if the timer runs out.

4. Error:
The Warframe fails & explodes, dealing damage around it while splitting apart in multiple Warframe-parts. 
If an enemy gets hit by such a Warframe-part, they will receive extra damage or get stuck at that part for a few seconds. Afterwards, the Warframe will  assemble at the origin of the explosion. During that assembly-time, each part will deal a random status-dmg around itself in a sphere until they are all back together.

1. Copter: Rapidly spin and propel the warframe forward while cutting enemies along the path
2.Unstuck: Relocate nearby enemies to a chosen location

3.Power donation machine broke: Sacrifice warframe stats to improve nearby allies

4.Ability use prevented: Sends a wave of energy that disables all enemy special abilities, auras and weapons in the local area

Passive - Hotfix: Chance to cleanse debuffs and reverse damage when hit.

Passive: Stutter

Every 30 seconds, broken warframe or one of his allies recieve a 3seconds 300% increase to one of their weapons properties (except damage). The weapon is random. The stat is random too. It CAN be recoil.)

 

Ability 1: Headshot ?

Deals 0 damage to target. Deals 100/300/500 damage to up to 3/5/10 targets that are at least 10 meters away.

Ability 2: /stuck

Broken warframe can freely travel through obstacles, grounds and walls while this ability is active. 

Ability 3: Disassemble/Assemble

Broken warframe splits into 3 parts, the player can choose which part to control at will. Those 3 parts are all playable in their own way but they all have Dissassemble/Assemble as one of their abilities.

-Neuroptics is an offensive caster

-Systems is a Support

-Chassis is a mobile disruptor

The parts do nothing while the player don't control them. If one of them dies Assemble is automatically cast.

I can't detail the parts's abilities as it would be against the rules.

On Dissassembly, Stuns ennemies for 1 sec within a 5 meters radius.

On Assembly, Gain 50% shield regeneration and 15% speed.

Ability 4: Generator

For the next 3/5/7 seconds, every ability of the broken warframe is replaced by 4 random abilities from 4 different other warframes. This includes this ability.

I feel that rng abilties are humorous but noit  fun to play as. Hope some joke submisions are presented for a laugh I guess. But please don't penalize your own frame with debuffs.

Health/Energy Charge/Overload passive:  When the Warframe collects energy and health orbs to the the point that it has full health and energy, excess fills up a meter. Once each meter is filled, energy will result in a radial shock that stuns enemies while health will provide a small health bonus to allies, both within a certain radius.

Passive: After dying, the warframe will attempt to reform itself. If the parts are killed, the resurrection fails. Has a moderate cooldown, but allows to cast the 1 while resurrecting to help the process. Additionally, it self-repairs, regenerating a % of health each second.

Ability 1: A targeted circular area will be highlighted. Upon release, any enemy in the area will be left rooted to the floor by the energy - root things.

Ability 2: Leaves behind its physical form, being able to move through the battlefield. Can shoot energy orbs that deal moderate damage and ricochet between rooted enemies (non exalted, maybe draws from secondary?). Deactivating returns to cast location.

Ability 3: Warframe is unstable and explodes, dealing scaling radiation damage in an area. Costs % life. Returns  energy from killing affected enemies. Subsecuent casts increase area, damage and decrease health cost.

Ability 4: Receive a series of offensive, mobility and defensive buffs. These will rotate for the duration of the ability, each taking 1/3 of the total duration. Starting buff can be selected.

1- the bonds of the abyss envelop the enemy and cause the rest periodic damage
2 - adaptation reduces damage taken
3 - summons the obsessed abyss sentient
4 - the abyss field deals periodic damage to enemies, stealing 5% health

-Passive deal double dmg to stunned enemies

-first ability a dash that works and looks something like vanellope’s dash from wreck it ralph. When you dash therw an enemy you stun them 

-second ability you stun a large number of enemies of enemies around you. The stun could be cooler like you put your hands to the gronie and create an explosion that stunns them (only enemies that are not behinde walls are effected) the ability could have a limit to stunned enemies (could be increased by power strength ) 

-third break yourself into pices so only the white sceleton remains and that would give you evasion could be increased by power strength mods, the ability would grant mobility evasion and enemies that are touched by the pices would be confused

-fourth ability an primmary exelated weapon that would be shooting large projectiles with infinite pt (something like fluctus) and would have a small chance to stun an enemy

Honestly this Warframe make me think of Knack from games named after him so here is an idea for kit for him

Pasive: Loose Structure - reduces incoming ranged damage by 20% and melee by 10% (explanation,  enemy hits don't hit actual parts but instead the gaps between them)

1st Ability: Assimilate - Warframe  pulls towards itself remains of enemies and gains the "chimera armor" meter, increasing it's  armor and health but decreasing the sprint speed(the remains are effectively rendered useless for abilities like desecrate),

2nd Ability: Return - Sacrificing some of the "chimera armor" Warframe launches a projectile of enemy parts at direction we choose, damaging enemies, after hit projectile explodes turning into shrapnel made out of various enemy parts, dealing  different types of IPS damage

3rd Ability: Disassemble - Wraframe breaks down turning into a floating cloud of parts,  it cannot be damaged in this state but cannot attack either, yet any enemy corpse it moves over in this mode can be assimilated to increase chimera armor meter

4th Ability: Chimera - needs "chimera armor" meter to be full to activate it, upon activation warframe  turns chimera armor into Chimera, AI controlled entity that will be fighting for us for limited duration of time(can be affected with mods) types of it's attacks depends on what kind of corpses we had in armor, (simply inherits attacks of enemies that got absorbed into armor, yet damage is dependant on power streetlight not levels of enemies absorbed) if interupted before duration ends it's being  assimilated back as armor, but if duration ends it dies exploding enemies within it's range and effectively can't be assimilated back

Hope this makes for interesting skill set, not heavy on numbers as I'm not really sure how to adjust them to make them "balanced"

Passive:rage (name) gaghers rage from damage taken and damage dealt giving him boost in attack speed that scales by x percentage of equiped attack speed caps at x percentage and gives him armor x percentage to base armor he also has no shields (need more frames like nidus and inaros)

 

1st ability: (siphon){name} latches tendrils to enemies and siphons health of them. Scaling by power strength and duration 

2nd ability: (blinding dash) he blinks a shorts distance and instantly blinds enemies surrounding him opening them up for finishers killing enemies blinded by this abilities allows him to gain more rage

 

3rd ability: (void channel) he channels energy of the void through himself to enhance his abilities and survivability at the cost of rage stack

 

4th ability: he channels a concentrated ammount of void enegery through his entirety allowing him to wield 2 swords made purely from void energy (hybrid exalted weapon)
