Protea Files Now Available!

Recommended Posts

Protea’s Files are officially available in the Steam Workshop!

Much like Revenant and all Warframes following him, she is made using new tech, so there are some missing textures in his ZIP file. It’s on you as the creator to make these maps yourself without any reference files.

Below is a list of what is included in the ZIP:

  • Normal
  • Emissive
  • Tintmask
  • Body, Helmet, and Attachment* meshes

To be clear, you are expected to still make the specular, roughness, and diffuse maps -- we simply can’t send you a reference for comparison.

*ATTACHMENTS
Protea has attachments on her body that are used to manifest her abilities: the belt around her waist becomes a turret when she casts her 2, for example. You can see these in action below:

Spoiler

You will need to provide custom materials for these attachments to match the rest of your design. The mesh cannot be changed, we are only taking custom textures for these.

These attachments are pre-placed in the correct position in the provided files, do not move them from their default position in screenshots. You can remove them entirely to show detailing under these areas, or to emulate her casting her abilities.

HELMET VISOR
On Protea’s default helmet, there is a brief visor transformation when casting her 1. You are welcome to integrate this in your design, but it is not necessary!

Two questions.

  1. Will these new textures show up on her abilities/deployables when active?
  2. Is the Tennogen submission end date still the same despite Tennocon 2020 being pushed back to August 1st?

Let the skin-makers make Protea more corpus-style. The original view is absolutely not authentic to the history of this warframe.

It's an Orokin warframe made for a Corpus. And it looks Orokin. It absolutely fits the "authentic" history of this warframe.

The Corpus style is allowed to be used by TennoGen artists, so they should be able to... not sure why you have to call for it.

1. Yep, just like how Grendel's meatball form would change with new textures.

2. Date is not changing. 🙂

I wish all Warframe abilities were eligible for retexturing with these projects.

It's probably not worth it to some extent considering how many Warframes already do have TennoGen skins and that would require those artists to go back and modify them again. It would be neat and be more convenient though it the files for the abilities were separate and they could be retroactively updated. And it could even allow the artist to not have to worry about abilities immediately if they so choose (I assume as long as it's not required for submission, such as with Grendel or Protea since it's apart of their model).

Can you please scrap that new tech or at least work on it further, because whites, bright and light colors do not look how they people would expect them to. All the colors on new warframes appear much darker than they are supposed to be and it makes customization really annoying as long as we are stuck with limited pre-determined color options without having access to a full color wheel.

not as easy to do as helmet mesh swaps, body retextures, melee weapons or attachments. Custom warframe abilities would need the full access to their particle system. Would be cool to see more of it tho, like another form of attachment or more deluxe skins with custom particle effects like with Nidus Deluxe

Wasn't talking so much about changing the meshes and particles, just retexturing the abilities that have meshes to retexture.

You're in luck then, I took a look at Protea's files and all of her summons (dispencer, turret, balls) can be retextured.

I would love to see a “sisters” pack:

”Corpra” Protea and “Graxx” Protea.  Oh, why not, let’s see what Vulbi can do also so we have all 3 factions.

We can call it the “Sisterhood” pack.

My #1 gripe with her current look is that for a Warframe centered around gadgets and tech... she does not look techy whatsoever. So I would love to see some skins that show off that side, lots of metal, futuristic glowy bits, not necessarily Corpus style, but emphasizing the futuristic/techy idea.
